Any book will increase your pet's intelligence, but you can only read a book to a pet one time. Some items also increase your pet's intelligence, and you can also play the Mystic Spindles game to raise their intelligence, too!

thanks last chance i did wonder about that , i been trying to find out how to make the pet smarter , so is a token book better than other books then? there a lot of books , im thinking that some do nothing?

You can read the book to a pet to increase their intelligence/alchemy points so they're better in battle. Each book can only be read to each pet one time.

I'm loving the small strapped book style of this new bag! I'm just curious about the origin of its' description. Might have something to do with the loster clasp, but the context just leaves more questions...
PS: Rock crabs are less rock-like and more tank-like.... If you see a 'muscular crab', do NOT underestimate those claws! Just stay away in general.
