🚅 Lag update!
hey everyone — sorry for the quiet week. here are some updates:
- lag on both sites. we hit another AI crawler situation, which is becoming a recurring theme honestly. the good news is i've gotten faster at identifying and blocking these — you should already be noticing both sites feeling snappier now that that traffic is cut off.
- broken cron jobs. a bunch of the timed features that folks have been bringing up: the recycle beast, the potion lottery, pet spotlight, these all run on a scheduler, and something's been off with that scheduler. some things aren't firing at all, others are running at the wrong time. i'm tracking down what's going wrong and getting those back on their normal schedule.
- 404s: this was an issue for a few minutes due to the bot blocking. should be resolved now!

uuughhhhhhh ai crawlers. yeah that explains a lot :/ thank you for taking out the trash <3 site's running much more smoothly now!!
I did notice some sneaky javascript kept showing up randomly, getting blocked by an add-on of mine. I figured it was something like that. Glad the crawler issue is fixed now.
Thank you so much for all the hard work! It's pretty minor but Rock, Paper, Scissors is also affected; my active pet has refused to play with me for days (which is funny ngl).
I think it would be a good idea to give each of us 1,000 CSC every time we encounter an error tag. That way, at least one side benefits, and to keep Subeta from going under, the programmers might show up to work a little more rested. It’s just a suggestion.. 🥳

Yeah, there is a [url="https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2025/06/keeping-web-under-weight-ai-crawlers[lot of writing[/url"] on this - lots of sites suffering from the huge traffic (but no $$) that comes from these bots :/ And since Subeta has so much "original" content on it, it's a really rich target for these kinds of bots.
Thank you for the update. I just now discovered a problem with my CW shop. When I edit the shop to check prices, it only shows about 24 of the 68 items in my shop. I'm guessing this is something new because I haven't checked the shop for a while. Thanks for all the work.
