Pet Toyboxes!

Every pet on Subeta has a Toybox now! It keeps a record of the toys you've played with that pet (just like food or books), and it gives you a much faster way to play them.
You'll find it on any of your pets: open the options menu on your pets page and pick Toybox, or jump to it from the pet's profile.
Here's how it works:
- Playing a toy makes your pet happier and adds it to the Toybox. Each toy counts once per pet, so once it's in the box it stays logged.
- Your pet can keep playing past full. Happiness still tops out at 10, but a toy run can carry your pet a little past that, so you can keep filling the box in one sitting. When they get too excited to keep going, give them a bit to calm down and pick it back up.
- Mass Play. Instead of playing toys one at a time, the Toybox pulls every toy you own out of your inventory and your vault and plays a whole stack at once. Pick the ones you want, or grab up to 10, and your pet plays through them until they've had their fill.
- A checklist of what you're missing. The Missing Toys tab lists every toy in the game your pet hasn't played with yet, so you can see exactly what's left to play with. There's an achievement tied to how many you've played, too.
While I was in here I also changed how pet happiness goes down. A pet that's looked after now settles at a comfortable, content level and stays there, instead of quickly dropping all the way to miserable (0) and staying there. Toys cheer them up well past that and can go post 10. Every pet that had been sitting at the very bottom got a little nudge back up to content to start.
The Toybox starts from today, we never kept a record of which toys a pet had played with over the years, so there's no way to fill in the past. Every pet begins with an empty box, and I'm sorry that history isn't there to recover, but it's counting now! Go play with your pets 🎲

How long is cooldown? I've had a pet stuck at ecstatic since day 1 of the ToyBox, though they are in the resort as well? Does that factor in?

Took me a while to decide what pet to use for this new collection, but I'm pretty excited about it! Always happy for anything new that involves pets. :D
Although, I am also having some confusion over the cooldown. Not sure if my pet being in the resort is keeping them too excited for me to play again?
Also, could we please get a link to the toybox on the pet page that's accessible through the dropdown on the main site layout? (The page with a URL like https://subeta.net/pet.php?petid=448630) I have 139 pets and sometimes my full pet page takes a while to load, so I generally use the dropdown page instead to access things like a specific pet's food eaten/books read.

I'm confused by this a bit - So I played with 10 toys with my pet -its estatic, as are most of my other pets - it cannot be played with anymore - but my other pets can be.
I removed the toys from the toy box - to see what happened - and nothing seems to have changed, I still cannot play with this pet? And now I can't tell which toys they already played with either?

I just realised the creative potential for this and would like to ask if there will be a way to remove toys (like removing other items that disappear when removed, so like, if I want a rainbow of toys but add a toy of the wrong colour I can remove it, and it's played with status, and the item evaporates.) So there's no way to have that item count as played with without the item being displayed in the pet's toybox.

I gave one pet 10 toys 24hrs ago and they still are too excited to play. What is the cooldown?

will the toys played with ne visible eventually on pet pages? Maybe as an optional add for people who want it shown.

This is a fun new thing to work on!
Would toys be able to get the same treatment as books/food - in that they show up on account search as played with by X pet and also in the item menu "X pet has played with it before"?

"Why are some of the balloons toys and others aren't?"
Asking the important question ;) Seriously though, I agree; since some balloons are toys, they all should be.

Wooo! It's here! It's here!
Wonderful
navigating across the toy section of the store I have to pick so many things, I'm eager to use it, but first, is first
Blue Yoyo
Your pets will have hours of fun learning tricks with this yo-yo!

I guess I'll be the only pessimist in the comments here. Sorry for that. Is there any plan to prevent the few users that were online when this was announced from going through and buying up all of the cheaper retired toys and jacking up the prices? There was a push for YEARS to keep players from hoarding, but here is yet another thing that only rewards people that have spent years hoarding. I don't want to sound like I think this is a bad feature because I don't. I like the idea. I just think there are going to be a couple of people that ruin the fun for everyone else. Also, can there be a bit more consistency in what is considered a toy now? Why are some of the balloons toys and others aren't? There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it lol
To end on a positive note, thank you for another cool feature that I'm sure a bunch of people are super excited for!

very nice!!
any chance we could play with the ones in pet's treasures without having to take them out? my pet treasures are all sorted in a certain order so taking them out and putting them back in would be a pain :k

Oh this is going to be interesting to mess around with , especially to see what is/isn't considered a toy! Maybe I'll finally be able to reduce some numbers from me "but what if" gallery.
Ps: once this is operating more smoothly, what's the chances of the "no direct use" items being considered for toys?
(I am very not casually glancing at some of my theme based pets then at shops like thimble

This is so cool!! It's going to be such an adventure for me because I have mostly ignored toys all together! I love this so much, what a great addition.

This is so fucking huge, a whole new collection to start working on is amazing! T___T Going to spend like all day removing all the toys I've been hoarding over the years from my vault to start chipping away at this collection. Thank you!!!!!

@Trees
The good news is that it looks like this feature allows you to remove items from your pet's lists in case you accidentally play with something with the wrong pet and don't want it showing up in the toybox (similar to how you can remove foods now). Your item will still be used up, but the list can be reset if you choose.

a new collection is announced and i start vibrating so fast out of excitement that a new type of molecular fusion is discovered

I'm actually glad it's not retroactive because I want all my pets except for my main one to have played with the same amount of toys (along with having the same number of food and books) and if it was retroactive then some might have gone over the number I wanted to keep it at.

I'm trying to play with some toys but it's not registering them, they stay in the inventory as well, does it mean that it's like food and every 10 toys it stops adding them to the collection?

Suggestion: add a "your pet has played with this before" the same as there is for foods if the player is playing with toys individually. Especially since the toy gets used up!

I don't even care that it's not retroactive I'm just rabid over getting a whole new collection to work on LOL

With the site being old enough to drink at a bar now (or almost!), it would be such a massive feat to make something like this retroactive 😅 Besides, there's much more of a reason to engage with the toys and playing now =] Renewed interest!

What do you mean, "Toybox pulls every toy you own out of your inventory and your vault"? I do hope not!!! Also, how would they be distributed if you have more than one pet?
Are toys consumed when they are played? Like, can be used only once?

Thank you, I love collections, they give me something to work towards. Would also love to see high scores for this like there is for books and food.

Even though I don't bother with many achievements on Subeta, I still think this is a nifty little addition.

I will add my name to adding toybox to account search.
Also, can there be a cleansing pool option (or somewhere else) for happiness like there is for appetite?

I'm not super happy because it can't be retroactive and it's mire work and money gor those who are achievement based. Also, a lit if toys are retired and I wonder if they'll come back into recirculation?

Also seconding the request to have items in our pets' toyboxes show up in Account Search, would be very helpful as another way to check which items we still need.

So cool! Another collection! I've always wondered what the purpose of happiness and playing was, this is so exciting!
