Pet Toyboxes!
Every pet on Subeta has a Toybox now! It keeps a record of the toys you've played with that pet (just like food or books), and it gives you a much faster way to play them.
You'll find it on any of your pets: open the options menu on your pets page and pick Toybox, or jump to it from the pet's profile.
Here's how it works:
- Playing a toy makes your pet happier and adds it to the Toybox. Each toy counts once per pet, so once it's in the box it stays logged.
- Your pet can keep playing past full. Happiness still tops out at 10, but a toy run can carry your pet a little past that, so you can keep filling the box in one sitting. When they get too excited to keep going, give them a bit to calm down and pick it back up.
- Mass Play. Instead of playing toys one at a time, the Toybox pulls every toy you own out of your inventory and your vault and plays a whole stack at once. Pick the ones you want, or grab up to 10, and your pet plays through them until they've had their fill.
- A checklist of what you're missing. The Missing Toys tab lists every toy in the game your pet hasn't played with yet, so you can see exactly what's left to play with. There's an achievement tied to how many you've played, too.
While I was in here I also changed how pet happiness goes down. A pet that's looked after now settles at a comfortable, content level and stays there, instead of quickly dropping all the way to miserable (0) and staying there. Toys cheer them up well past that and can go post 10. Every pet that had been sitting at the very bottom got a little nudge back up to content to start.
The Toybox starts from today, we never kept a record of which toys a pet had played with over the years, so there's no way to fill in the past. Every pet begins with an empty box, and I'm sorry that history isn't there to recover, but it's counting now! Go play with your pets 🎲

I'm actually glad it's not retroactive because I want all my pets except for my main one to have played with the same amount of toys (along with having the same number of food and books) and if it was retroactive then some might have gone over the number I wanted to keep it at.
I'm trying to play with some toys but it's not registering them, they stay in the inventory as well, does it mean that it's like food and every 10 toys it stops adding them to the collection?
Suggestion: add a "your pet has played with this before" the same as there is for foods if the player is playing with toys individually. Especially since the toy gets used up!
I don't even care that it's not retroactive I'm just rabid over getting a whole new collection to work on LOL
With the site being old enough to drink at a bar now (or almost!), it would be such a massive feat to make something like this retroactive 😅 Besides, there's much more of a reason to engage with the toys and playing now =] Renewed interest!
What do you mean, "Toybox pulls every toy you own out of your inventory and your vault"? I do hope not!!! Also, how would they be distributed if you have more than one pet?

Thank you, I love collections, they give me something to work towards. Would also love to see high scores for this like there is for books and food.
Even though I don't bother with many achievements on Subeta, I still think this is a nifty little addition.

I'm not super happy because it can't be retroactive and it's mire work and money gor those who are achievement based. Also, a lit if toys are retired and I wonder if they'll come back into recirculation?
Also seconding the request to have items in our pets' toyboxes show up in Account Search, would be very helpful as another way to check which items we still need.

i normally have to quit those because my pets were always happy and never wanted to play.
i was excited for a few weeks a bit ago when pets were glitchy in the resort and half the time i had several pets who could play...but that got fixed and all my pets were happy all the time again.
so yes! this makes my day. and im perfectly fine starting from scratch, gives me something new to do!!

This is excellent!! It was one of my major (no pun intended) issues when doing Major Drills quests. (is it a good thing or a bad thing that all my pets were happy?)
More work to do. First to finish with the minions for the zoo. Can we get something like this for the minion zoo please? I mean, I would love a set up for missing minions in this fashion.
It is a little sad it can't be retroactive but I also like the idea of starting a new "collection" on some of my pets. Actually according to the achievements none of my pets have ever played with anything. I thought I had played with them at least a few times over the years just by accident.
With this new feature will we see new toy achievements for our pets in the future and maybe some rewards? I hadn't even thought of changes or improvements to toys but I'm so excited for those items to have more purpose. :) Thank you!

great to finally see an incentive for playing with toys! I'm not sure I ever played with a single toy so I do not care at all it isn't retroactive lol

Updated the news post to reflect there is a limit of 10, and I'll make the feature more clear too. Also sending out events + refunds for the items that got eaten by the void
Always loved the toys so I'm pleased to see them have a proper utilization like other items. Subeta is a work of art in progress darling. Its wonderful to watch it evolve over the years!
I got a white page when I tried playing with my first batch of toys from my vault. I hope it didn't go through because I tried doing 100 toys and then realized some might be minions. I gasped at my realization and then got a white page and some relief! My pet is registering that it hasn't played with any toys as well. I'm also missing 3 toys. I believe they are 
. My pet went up by 3 happiness points.

Mass play taken down temporarily while I refund those toys and figure out what was going on 🔎 You'll have to play by hand for a bit!
I also lost two toys using mass play. Just a blank page. Items consumed but no credit for playing with them. Playing from the inventory works fine.

Ahh! @Caterpillar and @Balloon Let me take a look / take it down! I should be able to restore those toys 🧸
I'll have to start going through all the event shops to get the items I need whenever those come around again lol, but not super mad it gives us another thing to work on. I do like that we can go past 10 happiness, that kind of solves the issue of being able to keep minions attached and still play with the pet(s) we want for this collection.
Not annoyed that we're all starting fresh. I just noticed it while clicking through my pets is all.
I am not bothered at all that we are all 'starting from scratch.' Everybody starts in the same place. I enjoy collecting things, so this sounds fun to me. :)
I don't mind starting from scratch! Like I mentioned on the forums, I NEVER play with my pets... and now I'm going to (or at least my main pet, that spoiled little so-and-so lol). Glad I saw the news post in time to pull all the toys from my shop ;) This is a great way to add value to items by encouraging people to use them up!
Also, thank you for fixing the happiness issue, because I was really nervous that I would have to remove a minion that I really like XD
