Upload pictures to your profile
You can upload pictures to the new profiles now.
Add an Image block and put up to three pictures side by side, up to 400px tall. GIFs stay animated, which is how a Britney Spears GIF ended up on my profile. You can also upload a banner from Style, and any block can drop its frame and header so the picture is the only thing there.
Uploading pictures is getting harder across the web. Imgur doesn't load in the UK anymore, so a lot of profiles here are full of broken Imgur links for players there. We're nowhere near Imgur's size (good!), and we trust you, so your pictures can live here now. Each one gets shrunk when you upload it so it loads fast. Pictures can be up to 3 MB after that, or 10 MB with a Gold Account.
The new profiles are where I'm spending my time. There are cursors, drifting shapes like snow and bats and hearts, preset looks to start from, and fonts and colors you can change in a couple of clicks. If you want to go further, the profile help page lists the CSS classes for every block. I really want to see what you all make with them.
If you haven't switched yet, turn on Use the new profile layout on your preferences page. Your old profile stays saved, so you can switch back whenever you want. I'm going to keep adding to these, and I just think they're cool.

I just tried it to see how it would look and I'm wondering how do I keep my comments private? I don't want them showing on my profile.

@Lexiana Wow, hi!! Yes, I totally get it. I'm next going to add a background ability, which would honestly get your profile a lot of the way there. I'm going to add a to do that after the next round of updates if I can't make a profile that is a copy of yours & orgasmics that you can just copy in
I turned on v3, had a mild panic, and switched back. I know I need to tackle it at some point but I'm not yet sure where to start, it's been so long since I built mine from scratch.

in it - which makes it so the page can't scroll. this works great for your current profile! I'm goign to fix this in a way that should fix it for anyone with a profile rule set up like that

@Keith The page freezes and doesn't respond to me using my touchpad to scroll down, or any keyboard controls (page down/down button/home/end) to scroll the page. I can still click on things and add sections, but I'm stuck on only the top part of my profile, so I can't rearrange blocks or even see how they look.
I'm excited for all the changes you're making to profiles, and for all the features they have! However, every time I try to edit my v3 profile when I swap over to it, the page won't scroll at all. So, I haven't been able to test it out yet. I do use Firefox with ublock origin, does that interfere with the way the edit page works?

@orgasmic That's what I'm talking about with @Lyn here :( The new profiles support custom CSS - but they're built differently and someone will need to migrate your profile to the new styles. Now that the user profiles are connected to the shared styles system i'm hoping some very brave and kind users put together a few default templates 
every time we get a reminder that these user profiles are going to be the base of new pet profiles i have to forcefully restrain myself from being annoying oh my goddd. i am So Ready.

We really need a way to edit or news comments. I look like a two year old with all my typos and spelling. :(

@Frost Yup! Any blocks that can transfer over (text, images, comments??) will (and obviously be optional), and then new ones for pets that include lots of stuff that just aren't on pet profiles right now because i've been afraid to touch them for a very long time, but things like battle wins, friends, different treasure chests, could all be on there as blocks that are way more customizable.
This is like 10 years of pent up creativity all flooding the site at once. Incredible how much is being released and the vast majority of it just works.
Some v3 profiles tended to be a little laggy for me when scrolling, so I was not sure if I wanted to switch yet. Buuut all the new stuff is making me want to sit down and actually convert my existing profile over (hopefully before the end of the year hahah).
The image upload is a huge plus and I'm getting the feeling that image upload is also going to be a thing for the new pet profiles?

I love the look of the new profiles!!! Thank you Keith for doing all that you have for the past 20+ years, you have been through and done alot for this site and the community. I am not only happy to have found this site way back then but also feel that this place is my home away from home. ❤️

@Lyn You can, but like everything else... the old profiles are going to go away at some point - the code is just not going to be possible to upkeep.
After another couple rounds of updates to V3 profiles I hope you come back and give them a try - I bet your profile isn't that hard to replicate (bring over the images and stuff) and then you get the benefit of the new blocks, which is where any future updates will be.

I really like my old profile that Retro coded for me with the artwork gifted to me from Nikki and Jessyta. The only bad thing is it has an ugly comment box on it now though. :(
I am sure others are loving the new profiles, but hope our old one are something we can keep and use! :)

speaking of things that drift... balloon shapes would be fun on user profiles...
okay I'll shut up about the balloon icons now. Seriously though, thanks for alloing the picture uploads. I've been moving all of my pet profile images from imgur to Cloudinary so everyone can see them (and I don't like imgur anyway), but it would be a lot more convenient to have them here.
