It's still much better than the old malticorn, but I think PonyCrazyHorseMad's edit will make it better.
I also think the fur around the cheeks could be fluffier for a chubbier and more playful appearance like the old one, but I'm not sure. o-o Still voted for the new one.

I voted for the new one, but I think it still needs a LOT of work. The face for one, is really wide and flat. The muzzle needs to be a tad longer and the face should be slimmed down a bit. The hooves look, frankly, stupid. That perfect half-circle cutout thing in the front doesn't look cute, doesn't look quirky, it just looks bad. Follow the example of the old design as far as the hooves are concerned, because that's how cloven hooves should look. Everything else looks great though, I love how floofy the tail is, now nice the fetlocks look, and the shading is really effective here. :3

Finally! The line art on the malticorn was bugging me so much. I know i don't have the pet but just seeing it...ugg. As far as this revamp goes I think that the bangs shouldn't be so parted. Put some of it infront of the eyes,it'll look more natural. Other than that it's a bit stiff but it seems as though all revamps are going like that so whatever. With that said I have to say that this is definitely much better.

It looks entirely too fluffy and the horn curve looks awkward. The fur collar looks deflated and that curl looks unnecessary. The eyes are generic cartoon eyes. The legs looked better more slender with the widening from the knees to the feet of fur. The tail is too puffy towards the hindquarters. The highlights are excessive where they don't need to be (the body) and muted where they should be (the mop of hair on the head). All in all, I'm not fond of it strictly in comparison of the old. I notice pets are bouncing artist to artist, but please, don't change the Reborn; that one is perfect as is.

I sincerely hope this isn't done yet...I honestly don't like the shape of the face and the expression of this new one. The face is much more slender and feminine and it's missing the neutral maturity in the expression of the old one. And as others have mentioned - there was an elegance - that seems to be missing here. (...ahem, my apologies, Serenade, if this is the same criticism "over and over"...) I like the old malticorn, there's just something about it that I love. The new malticorn doesn't look as fluffy, I think there is too much detail.
I like pretty much everything besides that face. /: It looks very bored and lacks the funny personality of the old malticorn. Sure, the old one had it's problems, but I'm still voting for it. And I swear, if anyone changes the angelic malticorn, I'm gonna freak the big one. xD;
The malticorn is a puppy/goat creature, so I always thought it was weird that it had a unicorn horn in the first place. I like this new one a lot; the fur looks so soft and the pet does have a personality -- it actually looks rather impish to me.

This is the first revamp I actually voted for the old, because the old one actually has more appealing art all the way around. This Malticorn seems to be bow-legged. That is, the legs are too far apart and none of them have nearly enough joints in them. The shading is very nice, I will say that, though, and I do like the line quality much better than the old one.

To the artist: Copy this baby and flip it horizontally in Photoshop if you have to and just LOOK at those eyes. They're just staring into space. It gives the Malticorn a very - for lack of a better word - <i>stupid</i> expression. Like he should be looking at something, but he's staring into space instead. I actually prefer the crossed eyes to this, because at least that gave him a little personality.

mycenae, you hit the nail right on the head. Common pet colors can be neutral without being static and boring. Just because a color lacks specific mood standards (Spectrum, DM, etc) doesn't mean it has to lack personality. And this revamp doesn't improve the Malticorn's design; it's just a revamp for the sake of a revamp. This one, like so many other recent "revamps," is actually more of a devamp. It completely destroys the elegance, vibrance, and personality of the old Malticorn and covers it up with tight outlines and shiny shading. And I think everything else I could say about this revamp is in my comment on the main forum post.

despite being better drawn, I voted for the old one because in my personal opinion the old one is cuter and has a nicer shaped face, and I also like how the old one's hair hangs over it's face. :]
I miss how the horn used to look like a unicorn horn. This one looks more like a knife. also, the tail Extremely brothers me. It's too fluffy and big. The front legs are also too big for me. The fluff on the chest is also way too big. Over all the pet could be a lot more graceful looking, and less fat. I would like to see another revamp to vote on.

This one just doesn't have the charm of the older one. It's stagnant and lacks personality, whereas the older one seems to have a sort of spunky, confident air to it. I liked how the old one's little tuft of hair at the top kind of fluffed upward, but on the new one, it looks like a normal head of hair. The fluffiness of the chest tufts and tail seem to be far diminished on the new one too. The muzzle is too narrow, which pushes the eyes too closely together. The body and legs look stiff and blocky, as if they couldn't move in reality. The hooves also look too spaced apart.
Don't get me wrong, it's good art, but the Malticorn has a certain personality that's lost with this one. The trouble with these polls, however, is that most people will vote for the new one simply because it is new art. So, while flawed, I'm glad we can still be heard out in comments.

The only thing that I don't like about the new one is the face - The older one had a cute, more pug-like face, but this one made it all stretched out and awkward. However, I love the more textured design of the legs and hooves, but the tail and the pose still look really stiff to me.

True. But 'at rest' doesn't have to be the same as boring. Look at the Sheeta, for example! Then again, this is of course a matter of personal taste. And perhaps, if its other features (eyes, legs, etc) didn't look so stiff and lifeless, I wouldn't find the pose itself as boring.

I don't mind the revamp too much just a few minor things. The pupils and irises in the eyes seem to be shrinking with each revamp. Rounder irises and pupils would make it... more elegant? The body seems a little stiff. I don't like the horn that much, either. Maybe some more color added into it will give it some depth (crystal-like?). Something about the maw is kindof... off? But I do like it. ^^

I'm not fond of the current Malticorn, mostly because of the outdated art. But I'm afraid that I don't like this one either. The horn doesn't look like a horn to me, more like... a claw or something. The face looks almost a little creepy. This huge, hysterical, happy eyes are just not... my thing. Besides, it removes the pet's former personality which was more of a serious elegance. Now there is a sterotypical, cartoonish feeling to it. The whole pet looks stiff, as someone already pointed out. The pose doesn't look natural. Above all things, it's a pretty boring pose, to be honest. There is no movement, no life, no personality. The art is nice, no question, but this new version does not improve the pet in any other way at all. In fact, it's the other way around. At least the current Malticorn as grace, movement and personality. Sorry to sound rude, that's just my opinion.

ok, I looove this revamp for the most part. It's gorgeous. I would just suggest a couple of minor little changes.
Other than those 2 miiiiiinor little things I absolutely LOVE this redraw!!!!
- The hooves, ummm not yellow. I think the artists are trying for a golden color or something but it just stands out way to much with the rest of the coloring.
- Honestly this is such a minor thing that most people probably haven't even mentioned or noticedi t. But I would remove the curly Q in the fur by the neckline. The first time I saw it, at a quick glance I thought it was a jewel. I was like WTHeck is a Malti doing with a jewel in it's fur LOL.

The front legs look VERY stiff, almost like they aren't able to bend, and the back legs could be a little thicker, but I love this revamp from the belly-up.

I hope that highlights most of the points people are trying to make =) I think with the right adjustments it will be superb, it's not the art/style that's the problem(which is beautiful by the way), just those tiny anatomy(mainly) adjustments =DD

I think I agree that the re-draw is not as 'feminine', but honestly, the current malticorn already has huge eyes (compared to it's other facial features; the angelics are proportional). You can see more of them in the redraw though, maybe if it's fluffy mop of hair that needs to be moppier and fluffier? (I can't believe the artists kept the curli-q's in the fur around the hooves... kudos.)
Other than that I like this, great job!
