The Free Shop has opened it's doors, and it is where all future giveaways will be held! Tonight we will be testing it out :)

You might want to watch for these two items, that can only be found in this giveaway!
Just so you know - this shop restocks just like any other shop. Meaning that all the items in the giveaway will be restocking over time ;) This means that one time zone is NOT favored over others :)
Also, if it's empty, make sure to stick around. This giveaway should last through to tomorrow :)

Keith what a lovely idea! I wish I were not on my blackberry or I would join in on the fun!!
Starshadow: if it wasn't for the codes in shops it would increase the risk of hackers......capotcha code is needed these days on websites....
Its something to get used to as it won't be going away any time soon.

Nice idea but if we have to put codes in for this also I think I'll pass, it's enough nuisance in the regular shops so much that I don't RS hardly at all any more. The codes are too hard to read, maybe I'll try it again in a few days. Good luck to the rest though.
Darkmatter: thats nice of you <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />
Everyone just be patient with the free shop, give it time and it shall hopefully have been fixed.

Okay. I just got a "Brown Thank You Bear" and the process worked fine. I put in the code and it didn't ask for Sp, and I got the item.
I clicked "Back to shop", chose another item, and it started asking for Sp again...

@level27freak
Yea, you're right. I mean, earlier on in the giveway, there were some actual "Free" items, and even now, there are some Users doing a small giveaway of their own in the DC. Heck, after I finish vending, I'm gonna dig some items outta my vault and shops that aren't selling and 'em as well to the DC.
Maybe that'll help out with what's going on for now.

@ MVP = Perhaps Restockers aren't the only people with a ton of sP, but having solely Quested for nearly two years, I can safely say that Questing alone doesn't do it. <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_wink.gif" border="0" /> Plus normally the Forum posts about making millions -are- from know Restockers.
Also while you may not have gotten everything you want, there are many who haven't been able to get anything at all.
I have to agree with MyLilLisa - "it's nice that's it's free but it's like playing a game and losing over and over again. Not fun."
So with that, I am out to partake in RL and enjoy myself. <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />

It is a great idea...but as its in testing mode its understandable there are glitches.lets just let them patch the shop up a bit before ripping into them more over the same thing. I am sure it will be fixed soon when they are aware of the fault.
shoot, if its already hosing up-- I am off for some tv.. <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" />
It was fun being part of the testing however.. and I still scored that shirt! so Big Thanks!

Sari - There is a fault with it. Its not free. You click the item, and you still have to pay for it.

Seems like now, instead of just putting in the code, you now have to haggle sP for the item... and then get transferred to one of the main shops INSTEAD of back to the Free Shop! >_<
...This said even though the price of the items in the shop said "Free"... So, what's going on now, guys?
...This said even though the price of the items in the shop said "Free"... So, what's going on now, guys?

Now, that I have hung out in the shop.. I do like the DC area better, its faster thats for sure.. even with the lag, you go there and items are appearing so much faster, and easier to grab. Just my two cents. I hate putting in codes too.. I always type the wrong thing or worse cant read what the heck it says..
If this is a giveaway why does it still come up with a price? thats where I am confused.......

@Windsong:
I just wanted to point out that the RSers aren't the only ones with a huge sP amount. <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" />
You said:
And I only wanted to say that the sP don't come from only sitting in front of the computer. ;D
And no - I'm not getting everything I want. I can't say how many Items I missed in the Free Shop because of invalid codes or only because it was sold out within 1 second. So...it's not only RSing skills. <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_raspberry.gif" border="0" />

there, I've actually gotten something from donation and nothing from the free. <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_wink.gif" border="0" /> I think it's time to work on my web page and not worry about this for now.

I don't think anyone is expecting entitlement to free, rare items - only an equal chance at them. =/ And generally I am seeing more hostility coming from people complaining about complainers.
@ MVP - Where did I say that Restockers -didn't- work hard? o_0 Clearly there are many people that do not have the time to devote to it, nor the fast connection with which to compete. Which also explains why there is such a huge discrepancy between the average players amount of sP and the richest user. <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_wink.gif" border="0" />
Without the five minute wait, and with the addition of the codes, it seems that some are getting everything and many getting nothing, which is not conducive to an equal chance for all, as much as the old system was. Frankly the only issue I saw within the old system was regarding time zones...one would think that could be easily remedied, but then again I know diddly about coding. cough

I think I like the donation thing better too. I've actually gotten things from there. I've yet to get anything from this one at all. So, though it's free, I'm getting more frustration than anything.

I have to say... I don't like this method. I'm a fairly decent RSer, with a pretty good connection speed, but I still can't get anything. I've arrived right at restock, jumped on something with seven or ten in stock... and by the time I'm at the haggle page, it's gone. I used to just get some cheap plushies or beanbags at the DC, but I can't get anything out of this 'free shop'. Maybe if giveaways were switched back to the DC and sent out in batches of 3-4 thousand, instead of 20 thousand, over a day or two, that would allow people in different time zones or who are on at different times a chance to get the 'really good' stuff, while still giving us who have slower computers or reflexes a chance to get anything.
Good luck to the staff trying to make this work.
Gives up on the Free Shop and heads to the games room

They aren't free anymore, guys... I was going for the White Inflateable Pool just a moment ago, and it brought it up where you had to make an offer of points along with the code... Even though it said "Free" on the first page.
Maybe I'm missing something, but the Free shop deleted about 4k from my funds when I tried to get something. I have to agree with the others, I'm a much bigger fan of the donation center.

actually, I think it's great to have this. I'm more annoyed at my connection than the site things. The house I live in has a very thick wall between my computer and the internet thing so that makes mine slow. <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_wink.gif" border="0" /> but oh well. THey're only pixels. THough I woulsn't mind being able to get maybe one. <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_wink.gif" border="0" />
dear keith. you let me get the best things in the world. I love you. I love you. I LOVE the world! -screams and dashes around room- -jiggy dance-
Windsong, the thing is that very few people are actually offering constructive criticism because that typically involves some sort of suggestion on how it can be improved. All I've heard people say is that it's unfair and such and that is not going to help Keith fix anything. I really am curious what people expect him to do though. It was in the DC already and people found problems with that, now he tried shops and people are complaining about this too. =/ He's human, unfortunately, he cant make it perfect for everyone.

I love this new system. Maybe because I love to restock. It's too bad no matter what you do people are going to whine because they just want free rare stuff. Thanks, this is a really innovative idea I love it <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />
I am one of those who do not like the new system. I know of people getting things each rs..while I have got nothing. To level the playing field..a cool down period should apply.
This is an awesome idea, and I have no problems with it, considering that I do like free stuff. But I do feel that the old system was better; first, you had to wait for a while before getting a new item, which prevented everything from disappearing within seconds. Secondly, you only saw 12 items at a time, which made it more even as you couldn't see all the good items at once.
I do not mean to be disrespectful in any way or to whine, but I feel that the old way was better. In any case, I'd like to thank the staff for the giveaway~

I really like the new giveaway system. More than anything I'm just happy to see that there is a new giveaway since I wasn't expecting one until at least Christmas after what happened last time. Thanks!

I wouldn't mind not getting them so much much if it didn't take half a minute just to find I didin't get it. ;P

Agreed, MVP =)
Perhaps they system will be tweaked to increase the number of items per restock, so more people can at least get one item?

@Windsong:
RSers are doing HARD work for their sP. o-O
I have to earn my sP with RSing...and I RS for some hours per day. And I can say that it's not only sitting there, clicking a few times and then you have 6mil sP profit. So...the RSers aren't always the richest. <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_wink.gif" border="0" />

I wouldn't complain... it's fun to look for goodies... you need to look at getting things from the Free Shop as a game, not as a some sort of entitlement

grr. I can't even get anything because of my connection. everything just gets sold out no matter how many they are. not so fun to me at all.

It seems that some have difficulty with assuming that constructive criticism is automatically complaining. If the Staff do not know what the majority feels on any given change, then how are they ever to improve Subeta and thus acquire more members?
Now, I have a fast connection, and can even manage the odd Subeautique restock when I have the time. I clicked on 6 different items in the Giveaway and every one was sold out, so I do agree with the majority that this will only enable the rich to get richer. (AKA Restockers)
However I do appreciate Keith trying to cater all time zones and the attempt to create balance...perhaps if the codes were removed this would happen full circle for all Users equally.
Thank you to those sending items to the Donation Center, that was awesome of you and I was able to snag a Spectrum Potion, which likely wouldn't have happened in the real giveaway. <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />

im confused because somtimes you click on an item and it says that you need to pay for the item but I thought it was free?

weird.... I had clicked on an item and it asked me to haggle... is this supposed to happen? I left it blank, entered the code and the shop keeper said I didn't offer enough <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_sad.gif" border="0" />
I doubt the problem is ABer's actually. In my experience it took between 9 and 20 seconds for me to reload the shop. Assuming that since my connection is good its the site thats lagging, that means that when I refresh and see Restocked: Now! it could have been anytime in the past minute. Including the second where I actually clicked to refresh. Anyone that clicked before me will get the refresh before me and therefor has at least the 20 secs it took me to refresh ahead of me to shop.

Looking at how the Giveaways are done to be fair to everyone is a good idea 'but' I'm not liking this idea of giveaways either. This is just a 'testing' stage so lets hope all of our feedback will be looked into and maybe even the giveaway idea can be improved some more.

I'm not keen on this idea at all... = Not complaining, just saying.
I have decent internet. I can restock. But I just don't like it at all, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Best of luck to people who try to get stuff, but I'm just going to wait futilely until giveaways make their way back to the Donation Corner again.
Thanks for trying to appease everyone's wants though, Keith. Most people would have given up a long time ago. <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />

But I would think donation center would be a little easier on the servers, it's taking me too long to catch anything. XD

cool. I almost got something <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_wink.gif" border="0" />
Thank you kind DC'ers I actually got something I wanted! Yay!
If nothing else, this shop idea spurred a lil cross-user kindness. Now for me to repay the favor and toss a few items out that way <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" />

They can't make a program to grab the items. You have to type in that same security code as you do for the other shops.
ChillyKitten: The use of the word "filthy Restockers" is way harsh. No one becomes good at restocking by sitting around moaning and groaning. It takes time and patience. My advice to you: GO PRACTICE.

Moguri: I suspect people are using ABers, too... 3 secs to selling out everything? Even if there are 500 people online, not all of them are in this shop, I'd guess only 100 of them. Or Keith stocks more stuff, or hunt those who are using ABers. There's a way to detect fast from slow connections, and buying times.
Whoot.. Got the I Hate You shirt! Thats the only thing I wanted! Yeahness.. oh and I didnt see any comments or 'complaints' when I made my last post, I was just talking about the complaints last time there was a DC giveaway, and it was shut down.. I wasnt directing my comment to any posters this go around.( Just started reading the comments made here, about internet connections, )
Whew. I think my strategy is, as soon as I've realized it restocks, just scroll down and click on something without looking at it. 'cause if I stop to go "hmm, what do I want?" I certainly won't get it. (Not to say that I'm getting it now, but at least I didn't waste any more time <img src="http://www.subeta.ws:8080/images/smilies/6398_emoticon_raspberry.gif" border="0" /> )
