Registration & Referral Changes!

We\'ve made some changes to the registration process to make it easier for new users to navigate. Part of that change is removing the avatar customization from the registration and putting it into the wardrobe itself. No more waiting for all of the hair options to load, or breaking the page when you switch between male and female too many times.
That means that when you first view the wardrobe (even as a current user!) you get to choose from one of the basic starter sets, including a few new(ish) sets.
We\'re also updating the referral bonuses. We\'ve removed the flat cash shop credit reward for referring new users, and instead you now get 10% of each cash shop credit purchase your referrals make. So if someone you\'ve referred purchases 5,000 cash shop credits, you\'ll get 500 credited to your account. You\'ll get this bonus every time your referrals make a CSC purchase!

As bummed as I am about the change to referred people, I definitely think that it is a smart financial move for the site.

Not been lucky enough to refer people myself...but my referrer is going to make out like a bandit from this.
Not sure to be happy for her, or really shameful that she'll truly know how much money I utterly spaff on CSC. XD

The only problem is I don't have any left who would be even interested in subeta XD. They are all having kids now and don't have time for that stuff. I've advertising off site and that has never worked for it. shrugs All well I hope everyone else can get benefits from it.

To the people complaining that recruiting people will be harder now that there's an expectation for new users to spend money, I'd like to point out that there kinda isn't one, except maybe on the old player/recruiter's end. You don't have to pressure them the buy CSC, just get them to try it out. If they end up liking it enough to stick around, they probably will eventually.

welp
looks like im out of ways of getting csc without going down to like negative sp < m >
cool sets regardless tho

whuuuuuut?? This is pretty awesome. Wish I had more referrals than one, yah yah I know, I suck at selling things. oO
But if I knew people that would even remotely enjoy this siite... sadly I don't.
But regardless, this is an awesome change!!!!Subeta you're too good to us!

Will there be a way to get items from the other new sets? I was torn between the hunter and sparklepire ones.. I went the the hunter, but would still love to get my hands on the items from the sparklepire set.

I've been waiting for the Sparklepire set to be released forever ;o; Hopefully I can get my hands on the pieces.

not sure if it's been addressed or not, but upon seeing the awesome new sets, can us "old-timers" get some of these clothes? Like I know you can buy the prep/flower/girly/indi/punk, but can we choose a new set/s to add to our wardrobe? Or? On the referral side, no, no one I know is even remotely interested but I can attempt it.

Maybe the person who put me down as a referral will buy CSC.XD Now to get that Hunters Jacket from someone...Somehow. owo
who wants their friends to join hoping they will pay? like "hi! there is this super fun free pet site! Could u please buy some credits to be get some fun pixels in game?"
OMG. You guys did not just sneak some super amaze tribute items in there! Thank you for being awesome!
I still can not refer anyone. My facebook friends are boring, lol... kidding. This is a cool I idea though!

I already have a hard time inviting new people, it'll be impossible for me to also make them buy CSC :(
Getting ride of the wardrobe setup for new members sounds like a good idea, but I don't care for the rest of this.

Yyyyeah not going to be getting any referrals now. :( It's already hard enough to get people to sign up and I never even got the flat reward of 500csc but now that I have to refer people AND make them spend a ton of money just to get a reward myself... Nope, not even going to try that now :disappointed:
Is it just me or is the pin on the hunters jacket referring to the Hunger Games? Either way, I love it :)

Hmm hopefully this will help new users join and enjoy the site better. Thanks for letting us all know of these changes though.
Do we get a notifcation when people put us down as a referral? I think this has been raised before as a possible plus; in my case, at least, I don't know two of the people who put my name down. I'd have helped them along if I knew they had signed up.

Niice xD I must tell my friend that she's gonna get something, haha.
I like the sparklepire set but couldn't pass on the hunters ;-; Time to buy it all off other people!

Will CSC purchases made 7 days ago count? My referral recently bought a ton of CSC and won't buy anymore for a looong time...

Yeah so the story behind these is a long time ago I was working with my friends at hypable and we wanted to integrate hypable with the Subeta forums for cross promotion, and if you signed up for Subeta from hypable you'd get a set of items based on which fandom you looked at the most on hypable. Neither me nor my friend could really get it together and thats why those items got added but never used.
So NOW "sparklepire" ITEMS FOR EVERYONE.

I love this CSC bonus thing, hehe. Thanks!
And hopefully the registration change will help keep people around longer as well!

The CSC rewards being based on whether or not a referred member actually sticks around and contributes money to the site seems like less of a loss of potential income than the old system, so I guess that's good from a business standpoint. That being said, I'm really glad that I got the bulk of my referrals approved before the switch, since almost none of them are likely to spend their own money on CSC. u-u
i've only referred my friends who i would have referred regardless of the bonuses, so i don't care much about that aspect. BUT OMG. NEW SETS. YAY.

I'm personally not too fond of the referral change though, I really liked referring people for the 500 CSC.
But I guess now more people who are more likely to stay active are going to get referred, and that's a better system.
