What, no new minion? :(

I love that background a whole lot!!

I may not be one of the main buyers for minions and books, but when I do its only with sp. I dont have much cash to put towards subeta, so for me it goes to wears as they can be both tc/wear/gallery due to the ci and such. Im all for books and beanbags/minions/plushies elsewhere, and it sounds like they will be. So all in all it gives me a chance to buy as I always have with more choices for non wears. I dont see any issue with this or it being more on quality wears.

Especially with my lack of liking many collection items for a while, or at least not liking them enough to spend 250csc each.

These though are amazing, the victory roll hair totally reminds me of dolores and I want it even though its blonde and I very rarely buy blonde wigs here. So to me that goes to show that the quality can mean even colour doesnt matter to me.

Plus these violent delights have violent ends, and I cant complain when that sort of logic is part of what I see ;D

@Keith: I guess I was used to seeing 10 items in one box and the sudden change made it feel a little bit odd? And I suppose I also forgot about the one item per box before and also now, cause I haven't been purchasing the collection boxes. Always kept forgetting about it when I wanted to buy each month.

I think the new change is AWESOME!! It should allow me to catch up on all the DC's I was unable to buy bc they held books & I can't just read 1 book to just 1 pet, then I have to put 1 in my gallery, so ALL of those add up!! The only change I do NOT like is the elimination of "my" Keith items!! Question: Do we get any compensation for the items you take away from us?? I know I have spent a fortune in sP getting a majority of my Keith, Amy Lee & my NPC's (I have a horrible memory & can't remember if they were trapped or captured, it was something along those lines)!! Otherwise, I have been very happy to have been playing SUBETA as long as I have, good times & bumpy times. I've always been impressed with what Keith started & at what age he did it!! I know I sound like a suck up but I'm very sincere when I say that. I <3 this site & the wonderful ppl on here!!
0

Shadow

Well, I for one appreciate that I don't have to buy double what I used to anymore lol... unless I want duplicates x.x crud. Didn't think this through.

@FLUX now i just turned green an purple rofl :)

...and dont give her ideas !!! just dont !!!!

*whispers* i am 8 plushies away from a full collection !! so wait a little year with that ( fu*K you idea ) for complainers okay ????
0

theladywrath

The sands of time poster reminds me of that aurora place (or is aurora the person you go see? I can't remember its been a long time) in fable 3. I like it.
0

Beren

@FLUX I am still laughing so hard thinking about the plushie chance machine *epic*

I also want to add
it sort of makes me angry and sad to see all those complains.
I have soend some time on other pet sites adn to be honest the staff here is doing an awesome job.
I've always had fast responses - things seem to be though through (and be changed for a reason)
and we get an explanaition.

Maybe I am not choosy enough - but I feel pampered with the way the stuff handels things here.

As said before, I am happy that there are only 5 items now, since I still need bunches of items from old collections -
so I am not complainng.
0

Cerredwyn

@CaveAdsum I don't understand the complaining either (I had a bit of a rant about it, but I deleted it before I sent it, lol) and have to say that I'm SO glad Keith addressed the issue of why would the price change. It's pure logic that one item from a collection is the same price, regardless of whether the choice was between 5 or 10 items. It's still a rare item that cost 250 CSC.

. . . and NOW my pet has read 2000 books!! Hooray and thanks, subeta and Keith, for another book!!!
0

Keith

@MOKONA Why would the price change? You were getting one item before and you're still getting one now.
7

CaveAdsum

I really don't understand any complaining. I really like the change to only 5 Items. I also hope there will be less wearables next time. Far better for us. Love this collectionn though I can't find out the actual reference, still a least two items I really really want! Hopefully that means we now get some more regular items and artists habe more time for other stuff. The art quality has been getting better and better already and I can't wait to see what more is to come now they'll have even more time!
0

Cerredwyn

I was going to say something about the olden days but I decided not to. Instead I'll just say that I don't mind waiting for things, so if one of these months a collection did NOT have a book in it (MY personal fave are the books) I would actually be relieved. I am working constantly at keeping my pet as high on the readers list as I can. Every new book that comes out is always going to (eventually) be bought and read to all the other pets who are vying for position. OMG, I just realized that as soon as I buy this and read the book to my pet she will be at 2000 and I just checked the list. "Penny" will then be in 24th place and tied with another pet (Pinna who is at 2000 right now). OH MY goodness how cool is this!! My baby will have read 2000 books, in a matter of minutes. Whoot!! Scurrying off to do that, and before I leave I will say "How COOL is it that we can now earn CSC at the bathhouse, I am SO glad of this cause my little retirement check from Soc Sec can't handle much with the rising price of everything in the world. :) Thank you Keith for that!!!
1

Oasis

At least I'll be spending CSC on the older items then. The items in this bag don't appeal to me at all, not even for TC items for my pets.I hope with the item reduction in both this MC and future MCs,this means they'll finally update some of the older items in the DPs and past MCs.Some of art for the items are pretty badly dated, especially some of the wearables.I also hope things will be switched up through out the MCs over the months, and it won't just be wearables all the time.
0

MOKONA

Hmm... So the price is still going to stay the same even though the number of items has dropped down to 5 per box? It seems a little pricey... *shrug*

So collectibles will be bought separate or the collections can be alternated. I'm definitely not against this change...
3

Trendy

I just wished DP wigs were unlockable in the saloon. Some are some pretty, but I'd prefer the styles in a different color or two. :(
5

Ambition

@Amber
lol ok, no tease, I'll wait (quite impatiently). lol XD

;)
0

Amber

@Ambition We’re going to move away from zodiacs, that’s for sure! Who knows what’s in store other than that for Delish though!
3

Ambition

@Amber

Ohh, that would explain why I have noticed it. I really really really hope we do not get another theme that centers on that theme again. I just need some new variety.
Any hints? lol

If my two cents count I like tropical themes, or European themes, since we have not done those (to my knowledge). Or color theme, each set focusing on different colors and their associated emotions/feelings.
1

Amber

@Ambition Well, we did two zodiac years. The first were the Capricorn, Leo, etc. The second year (which we finish this month) have been the chinese zodiac, which is why there’s been a lot of heavy asian influence.
1

Ambition

@Amber
I forgot to ping you in my last post - sorry. ♥️ :cookie:
0

Kaiidth

@Keith @Amber
You guys are doing a good job.

Now I love wearablez like a lot. I like the change to 5 items I think. I was worried originally rhat my phone hadn't loaded properly. I love the quality and that it gives artist a chance to work on revamps or other stuff for the site.

I do agree with @buttercreme how the are mostly theme based when they are been released on site lately, when not through the collections. I do also really like @Ambition suggestion about having a csc market for minions for like 100 csc might help bring them back to a profitable margin.

This is my two cents, no one has to listen to it or he'll read it.
2

Ambition

lol :D I love minions and cute things. ♥️

Well I do hate chance machines, but outside of that I have yet to hate anything coming from the CS (at least in terms of item variety and release time frame).

I do have a random question: is it ever going to be possible to step back from creating only Asian-kimono themed boutique sets? Just curious because they seem to all have this theme over longer than a year.
1

Xenalicious

I'm gonna pass this month. But, I'm gonna get a few items from past collections. <3
1

Amber

@Ambition just u wait YOU’LL GET SO TIRED OF THEM
@FLUX perfect, don't forget stray hairs
2

FLUX

*animal dolls I hate you phone
0

FLUX

@Amber
Just add some stitching to the animals fills and BAM there's a million plushies ready
0

Ambition

@Amber
Yes, I know but I like seeing the new ones every month or so and it seems like we only get new CS items rarely (usually in the boutique really).
0

Amber

@Ambition We already have that in themed items (and the minions/collection items are generally cheaper so they sell a bit better)!
@Buttercream Honestly, I didn’t think about the asian influence when I put the rooster at Dara’s. Keith and I were brainstorming something to do with it other than making it a free gift (making you work for it a bit!). I get your point though, and like I said we’re working on it. :)
@FLUX THAT IS A GREAT IDEA I LOVE IT
3

Jules

I will not ping people (cause I'm lazy and don't want to scroll up and down through the comments) however, who ever complained about the site being down a lot... what? are you kidding? The site used to go down for days at a time and was super super super laggy all the time. I just started visiting/playing again on December 1st 2016 after only playing sporadically for the last year or so (prior to that I was a more consistent player) and I have to say the site is the fastest I have ever seen it! Super fast! Short down times! Issues addressed super fast! KUDUS SUBETA TEAM!!! You guys rock!

While I was a little shocked at first about the collections going from 10 to 5, I think in the end it's a good decision. And my favorite part is this:
"Previous January Donation Presents and Collections are now available in the Cash Shop!
You can now choose what you want out of the January Donation Presents rather than receive a random item when you open it!"

Thank you thank you thank you!!!
Now I just have to make sure I visit every month to catch the collections I missed last year and also the ones from the earlier beginning years too!
4

FLUX

I'm just sitting here waiting for @Amber to reveal a chance machine with 100 plushies as a fuck you to all the people whining about there being none

Would plushies that double as a wearable be an option? I know that this has been avoided in the past but it's actually quite cool when we get dual items that are food wears and such.
5

Andrea

Okay so I am totally legit with just five items as long as long as they stay wear heavy and don't go book heavy because you can resell wears not books so that mess adds up fast. I could go as high as two books but anymore than that and I'll be cranky.
1

RoxyWolf

@bonecrivain
"you kept the money-making ones and chopped off any that weren't creating a profit for the site."

That's kind of the point. The point Keith and co are trying to make that, regardless of the theme or (wholly subjective) quality of the items put out in collections, the items weren't selling enough to make up for the cost and time investment of designing them. Regardless of how the items look or what they are themed around, the collections items were simply not big sellers, not even enough to break even -- and since Subeta is ultimately a business, they had to go.

And, as other staff have said, the make-up of the DC boxes will not be static, and the items within will continue to vary between wearables and other items to give everyone an option of something to purchase if HAs aren't their thing! Collections items will be implemented in other parts of the site as regular content, so it's not as though beanbags and plushies and (my favorite,) minions will be gone forever! It's all going to work out. This is something new to adjust to, but it's a change for the betterment of the site overall.

Ultimately this change is a good thing, because it allows the artists to focus on more productive tasks that benefit the site as a whole, like revamping old pets and items and creating content for other parts of the website. Which will, indirectly, make the site money, by keeping users engaged with new features and the new content down the road, instead of costing them money by designing for-profit items that do not turn a profit. It's a move that makes sense.

And, respectfully as art is subjective, I absolutely disagree with your perception that the art quality on the site has gone downhill. I've honestly not been this engaged with Subeta in a long time, and I'm a fan of what I've been seeing from the artists. To each their own, but please don't disparage the hard work of the people who put their skills to the benefit of the site.
8

Buttercream

@Amber - I completely understand the reduced art team and I understand that we're coming off the most packed part of the Holiday season. The issue I am having is the LACK of opportunities for wholly unique items. The minions released during Luminaire were all winter themed (aka a Snow Man, Gingerbread men, a cat in a blanket, ect), the ones for the New Years shop are all party oriented, the ones from Charity during Fireside are the most unique and special but based on real-life creatures, a group of color filled Alchemy werepups, spooky/pumpkin/phugs in costume themed Morostride, and a lot of nifty RL insects from Quentin, Pirate and RL aquatic creatures for Keelhaul.

What I am seeing is a recipe being followed, which the Collections didn't follow. Yes, the Collections have themes but those themes aren't normally integrated into the Subetan-verse. I like that there will be new minions released but like the newest one, its a Rooster and it fits the mold of the Chinese Zodiac and it released in Dara's shop, which is Asian influenced. What gets released into the Carnival shop will be clown themed or really odd derpy minions. Again, I'm back to the fact they are following a recipe. The expectation is that when these items are created they are following an already established format.

My issue has been solely focused on NEW items. Re-Releases in the TS do not fit into that. I appreciate the releases of some items but what is new is skewed towards wearables.

@Keith - In my first post, I stated that I understood the changes. I'm not screaming for minions to be re-established into the Collections. Instead I am pointing out that the Collections were one of the last places for really special unique minions to be released that don't fall into already established formats elsewhere on site.

Look, I get the change. I understand that Subeta is a business and it needs to make a profit. My worry is that all the money making eggs are going into one basket, books and wearables. I have purchased a Collection or 5 almost every month for the time I have been playing Subeta and for me this change makes me less likely to spend anything and that makes me sad is all.
3

Ambition

put the minions in cash shop separate? I would buy cute foods/minions/collection items from the cash shop for a lower price, like 100 CSC?
3

Sleeb

As long as there's cool wearables! :D
1

Tammy

Make no mistake, that sundial is GORGEOUS. whomever did that should be showering themselves in, well whatever one showers themselves in when they want warm and fuzzies ;)
0

Keith

@bonecrivain "A site run purely for money" wouldn't look anything like Subeta - you'd have twelve ads on the page and only be able to reach parts of the site if you'd paid for them. That's just a ridiculous statement to make when there are such obvious examples of that type of site in all of our minds (Neopets, marapets, etc) and Subeta is not that.

I'm not going to go into depth on how budgeting from our end works, but the collection was becoming unprofitable because of the items that we've taken out. That's the long and short of it, and we've made a change that makes the collections a better investment of our time. I'm sure the items that were taken out (minions, beanbags, plushies) will find their way onto the site in other ways, and quite possibly in the cash shop for less CSC (because 250 seemed to be too much).
14

bonecrivain

As for the quality reduction...you've burned out some of your artists and lost others over the years by pushing unreasonable quotas on them. Some weren't able to continue drawing at all; others started churning out lower-quality items or "sets" in a variety of colors because it was easier to hit a quota with those than it would be to spend time thinking of truly unique, interesting items. Subeta's art is still, overall, pretty dang good, and I'm obviously still sticking around and occasionally making new pets when there's new art I love. It's just not at the height/output that it used to be. Seems like a lot of that's due to having to hit a bottom line, which is understandable enough but a real shame. Especially when the site is still plagued by constant downtime and other issues that a site run purely for money shouldn't be struggling with at this point in its lifetime.
2

bonecrivain

"Because they're taking a spot from an item that will actually earn money" - but you didn't replace them with ones that will make money? You just reduced the number of items. You didn't make more high quality items that would make the site money - you kept the money-making ones and chopped off any that weren't creating a profit for the site.
2

Saber_Lily

I am hoping you will make certain months back to 10 items, like October
1

Sopheroo

@Keith

Are collections on average more profitable than themed sets released in the past? Talking thing like the Jeweled Hippocampus stuff, where most items are around 150 CSC a pop.

Collections have the "hurry up you only have 30 days to buy them factor" while the themed sets are often there for 6 months, but the average item price is lower.
0

Keith

@bonecrivain Also I absolutely take offense to the idea that the quality of items has gone down, and 100% disagree with that premise. I'd be interested to see items that you're talking about, or what creative items you've had in the past that you think you aren't seeing these days.
1

Keith

@Sopheroo Sure, except that we have access to the amount of items sold from collections, and those items don't sell and we lose money on putting them in there instead of a clothing item.

@bonecrivain Because they're taking a spot from an item that will actually earn money. When we put out the collections we anticipate them making a certain amount based on the items inside, and the number of hours worked by the artists to put them out. Unfortunately, the collection items (plushies, beanbags, and minions) have stopped passing that threshold but the wearables always go past it, and have subsidized the other items for the past 6-12 months, but we've decided to stop doing that.
2

Roybn

I think people have a hard time accepting the argument that the staff has offered up because logically speaking if you deminish the amount of items in a set it should mean the artist that's doing the items should have more than enough time to wow us with the quality of what they do roll out and these items don't cater to collectors of stickers, minions, beanbags etc so while five items may be more "economic" I agree with the idea that cutting these items out of the set this month wasn't a good economic move on the soul basis that these items aren't up to par with the items in past collections that have had ten.
1

Sopheroo

@Amber @Keith

The thing is - we have a lot of Cash Shop items, so turning the collections into Yet More Clothes And We Guess Another Item is...not that interesting to people who don't buy clothes.

I seldom bought collections in the last two years, and it's going to turn into "I never buy collections" because there are already a lot of outlets to have cash shop clothes, and really few for everything else.

Outside of the obvious custom wearables, we already have a lot of outlets for wearables: we have two permanent chance machines who give out wearables (plus the seasonal ones), we have the Boutique, we have the costume trunk section, and most of the themed items added are wearables.

It was fun to have at least one thing in the cash shop that wasn't 90% wearables, something that made everyone happy. Even if some items were less profitable, at least, everyone felt included.

In the past two years, I seldom bought collections, now, it's going to slip into "I never buy collections" because I feel like you're putting all of your eggs into one basket.

tldr - non-wearable cash shop content is also important if you want to make money
3

bonecrivain

If you can't afford to have artists draw minions for cash shop items that still sell (if less than wearables), how can you afford to have artists draw minions for non-cash shop items? It makes no sense to me, and it feeds into this pattern I've been seeing of Subeta losing artists and the quality/output of art/enjoyable items going down significantly over time. I've been on this site for YEARS, and I used to always have stuff I needed to buy, including things I'd periodically spend real money on. Nowadays I add very little to my wishlist. I'm one of the people who doesn't care at all about the wardrobe, so unless the item itself is pretty (like this sundial is), I just scroll past without bothering. I understand a business has to make money, but in order for a business to make money, it's also gotta keep its customers happy and invested.
2

Cass

I'm excited that we're only getting five items. So much less pressure if the monthly theme is one that I really like. x:
2

Christopher

I can't wait until March when there's 3 beanbags and a plushie in a single bag.
3

Tammy

*throws 2 cents in*

Coming back after a long hiatus I see it like this, that I bought a DP like 5 hours ago to sell, and I still have it. Never in my 9 years here have I held on to a DP/collection (whatever you wanna call them) that long without offers or comments on what I will take. I don't know if that is a reflection on the reduction in items, the lack of collection items or if DPs are not as popular as there were when I last played.

My opinion on not having collection items in the DPs, only because others are making comments is this: completion of collections are not supposed to be easily attainable, so having super hard to get or crazy expensive collection items should happen regularly to give people something to work for and to make the accomplishment of finishing a collection actually be of value.

I love having 10 items in DPs only because I like options and I am super picky about the stuff I will spend real life money on. TBH nothing this month blew my dress up, so I spent my CSC on one to sell for people with no CSC and saved the rest

/2 cents for whatever it was worth
3

crashingnightingales

@Keith Thank you for taking the time to give us such a detailed explanation on the reduction in the number of items for the Monthly Collections. It totally makes sense to me, why subeta would need to reduce the number of items being put into monthly collections if they aren't selling. Glad to see that the books were kept. Really excited about the background for this months theme and I love seeing the representation of the concept of time.
1

Skolletta

Less items = happier me! I like the idea of higher quality items too. c: I'm very happy to hear that there will be more revamps too.
1

Amber

@Geek maybe I'll do some more NPC cards!
0

StarShadow

Love the color on the wig but not the style. Too bad. Otherwise I would have bought that one. But like the poster backdrop a lot. These are very nice.
0

Geek

I for one am very excited for the change of 5 to 10 items! It just means I no longer have to buy as many collections!

As for the lack of collection items and mostly wearables, while I don't care for wearables I know people love them and I do think that staff will try to put more beanbags, plushies, books and minions somewhere else in the site! Plus there's always next month c; (though I'd love a new trading card to show up somewhere on the site!) Thanks Staff, I love this change.
1

egg

@Amber no collection items thank u i love u cuz i gotta buy hella old collections still

:*
0

Julie

My goal for each collection that came out monthly is to put one of each item for my gallery and then put an extra one for the various collections... books, stickers, plushies and beanbags. They become unbuyable very fast. Let's see how this turns out this year and give them a chance.
0

Reykur

^^ I'm one of the few persons who usually needs the minion from the collections.

It's kinda sad that we don't get 10 pretty items to look at each month, but that is my only complaint. It's nice if you don't need to buy as many boxes and if there will be different kinds of items every time I think it's perfectly reasonable. Subeta is still a buniness and while you want to please as many customers as possible in the best way possible you'll always have to make sure it pays off (or at least breaks even). Artists get paid for items they draw, regardless if it will go into a collection or just any other shop. If people don't choose minions from collections most of the time you don't make money with that AND have to pay the artist for another minion that can go to the MC, TS or just any other place if you want to release one there. With less items in collections you can focus on good quality in more areas of the site, while the profit from collections can stay roughly the same. Also really if things don't work out and there is LOADS of negative feedback chances are that the collections will recive more items again. And a rotation of item types, as well as the missing item types (aka minions, collectibles, food, etc.) going to other places of the site, was already confirmed by Amber. So it won't be (almost) all wearables every month!

Aside from that I really like this months theme! Especially if there will be revamps and fixes. Also really hoping for tons of time themed minions and useless, pretty trinkets for TCs. :)
1

Bliss

@Amber
Is there any chances of the DP's getting lowered in price? I need to collect all the minions lol
0

Darkrai

@Masquerade Yeah, that at least makes more sense than dropping it. That was kind of my point lol
0

Amber

everyone is full of typos today
1

Bliss

@Julie
Maybe I don't understand what's going on? I thought we went from having 10 items in a DP to 5?
0

Julie

I meant 10 to 5. LOL.
0

Julie

Going from 5 to 10 is awesome and I can concentrate on finishing up getting 2006-2007 items I need for my gallery.
0

Bliss

@Masquerade
Damn typos. I meant I wouldn't pay more, for less. I think if the prices went up, there would be less people buying them.
0

Masquerade

@engrave exactly that.
0

Bliss

I have to collect all the minions from the DP. They're too expensive in shops or there's non available. Collecting any kind of DP is expensive.

@Masquerade
Are you talking about the prices of the DP's going up? I would pay more for less items :/
1

Marlboro

In my opinion, collections items needs to slow down and give people the opportunity to catch up, so it's good that they are not in the monthly collections now.. especially when some people are 2-3 items away from finishing any collection but the items are not available so they need to waste 250 or 500 every month to add the new items from the monthly collection.. as someone who had experienced it, I can tell that it was very annoying..
Now the collectors can actually save some csc..
2

Masquerade

@Darkrai it could also be argued that because there are less items than before that the price should increase. Reasoning - less people buy the collections because there are fewer items = less money for Subeta.
0

DarkVixen28

Victory rolls! Yeeeeeeeees.

Honestly, I really like the 5 items more right now; its nice to only want one item without actually needing 3 others besides. As someone who wants to complete the collections (plushie, beanbag, etc) this makes it seem a little more achievable. More diversity in later collections would definitely be welcome (as in not so wearable heavy) and as Amber noted they'll be expiermenting with item combos. I understand why some things were cut from the collections, but don't rule them out completely. They don't have to be included every month. I guess I'm just asking you to keep them in mind.
4

Yuzuru

Cool! I was waiting for these to get the Ice Skate Friendship Charm from last years collection, needed it for a pets TC :D
The new wig looks nice, too, but I'm not sure if I'd ever use it myself
0

Balloon

Nothing in this collection I need... thank goodness because I just WLed like five of the old ones for pet treasure ;X; I like the change to fewer items.

Also omg love what Amber said on down about phasing out the Keith items around the site. No offense intended, I always found those to be rather creepy. *didn't stop me from getting the Keith balloons for my gallery but WHATEVER*
0

Beren

Happy that the items are reduced - since I still need a lot of items from prevoius years
this should make it easier to get my hands onto those.

The art is amazing
*drools*

Thanks for explaining @Amber
1

Hylian

Moar minions in other places of the site then! I'm happy with 5 item change if that means more minions for me NOT in a collection! ^_^
2

everdear

I'm in love with those wigs and the background ♥️

Besides that, 5 items in high quality sounds perfectly fine for me. The artist team does such a great job in making tons of new items; I'd be happy if they try and revamp some of the old things :3

I hope they aren't *all* as wearable-heavy as this month's is.. I totally understand why the number of items has been reduced but I hope later months are a bit more diverse, for people who aren't into wearables. :)

Ambition

Awwww I liked the 10 item bags.... more to look forward to with the hope of something I will like. I liked nothing in this bag. :(

but I hope others find it cute!

@Buttercream Amber has done a great job of explaining this, but it comes down to economics. Unfortunately, the minions just didn't sell well in the collections and in some months this year ended up costing money for us because of the way we count cash shop items (they're the items intended to make a profit because they're in the CS) and the weight they are supposed to pull.

What we want to do going forward is provide five high quality items every month that are intended to pull in money (we are running a business) and hopefully that gives us the bandwidth to add minions elsewhere. Obviously the minion zoo / minion battling feature was a big focus of ours 2 years ago and that didn't pan out (but we've still got plans for it to merge with something else we've been working on) that would have been how we'd give those out.

TLDR; Minions (and other collection items) were sometimes costing us money to release in this way, and so we've removed them from the collection and hope to be able to release them elsewhere on the site without the expectation of making $$.

CMYK

costs actual money* sorry I was multitasking
2

CMYK

@Sekhmet
Think of it this way, say a store stocks products that doesn't sell well and hasn't been for awhile. Demand doesn't meet supply, therefore the store is actually spending more money stocking said product that won't sell.

In this case, the artists don't need to be paid for their time drawing an item that costs actual and has consistently sold the least.

Amber

@Buttercream Again, like I said we have a very small art team and we just got over a holiday period where we had to get a lot of different types of items out in specific places (holiday special shops, melody, etc). Now that we’re past that, we have time to work on getting things out in various places like Dara’s or the Carnival Shop, etc.

Also for your token shop count, are you just doing new items or things that have been rereleased (if you’re doing rereleased, you’re off on stickers!). We might not always have new releases of beanbags/plushies/etc there, but I try to get old ones back in circulation all the time. I can only work with what I'm given from artists, and generally we have a lot of wearables left over from various things that I throw in the Token Shop (which is what holds the TS etc over while artists focus on those holiday shops and what not)!
8

Evanesce

Five items is MUCH more reasonable. I hope it gives the artists time to work on other things, such as items that desperately have needed revamps. I do agree that they need to be DIVERSE though, as much as I love wearables more than anything else on the site.

Buttercream

@Amber - The primary reason I purchased Collections was for minions and potential TC items. I understand that minions aren't the best sellers, but my issue is that the track record for Subeta shows that unique minions that aren't following some event or holiday theme are quite uncommon. I'm not discounting that minions are released, I'm having issue that very rarely do they NOT follow some already established form due to where they are released at.

Token Shop - From June 22nd till now
48 Wearables
10 Pet Colors
12 Books
4 Plushies
1 Sticker

I think you are missing the point I'm trying to make. The TC, which does release unique items, is HEAVILY skewed towards wearables. Some other types of items are released but RARELY. One sticker? No minions...I didn't see a Beanbag either. That isn't something for everyone.

The very shop that stocks minions had one restock last year. The last handful of minions that had been released are 3 for partying aka NYs, a unique one from a Quest Giver, 11 that are winter theme aka Luminaire, 2 for the bath house, 2 from collections, a new Bone Fairy in the CS, 5 from food donations to Charity (which is probably the most unique set of minions released because they don't seem to follow any particular theme).

Out of that list, I would say the 2 minions from the collection, and the 5 from Charity are the most wholly unique releases. The rest of them follow a set pattern for being holiday/event related.

I guess I'm just a bit sad to see the changes but I do understand them. My only hope is that these changes lead to others around the side to still provide access to really special new additions that do not follow an already established cookie cutter mold.

RubyShades

There aren't any collectibles?! My plushies and beanbags! No! Loving the hair though.

Sekhmet

Not to complain, but won't this mean less money for Subeta, to only have 5 items released instead of 10? I thought that the site was always hurting for money.

Spilled Sands of Time

... Almost my haircut and colour. Oh boi thank you.
I need it af. /waits til csc bonus

Don't really care about the 5 items change tho.
I do care about keeping the quality so ayee let's go.
1

Lantern

Ngl I am a little annoyed with the wearable heavy collection because I do love minions/non-wears, but I so rarely bought the collection minions because they either didn't appeal to me or because of money. If the minions didn't sell enough, I understand why they want to cut back on them. Maybe we can get new minions in Dara's shop instead.
9

Amber

@Buttercream Token Shop has plenty of other items outside of wearables and books. We almost always have a plushie or beanbag in restock or a sticker. We’ve just passed a huge holiday season, which means our small art team has a lot of time to focus on revamps and new items for various shops / areas of the site. :) We already have a few items ready for this month's theme to release around the site (and they aren't all wearable either ;))
3

Amber

The thing is though @Sopheroo, minions don’t sell that well. People hardly ever choose the minion out of collections, so putting one in every month is hurting us more than helping. It’s better for us to put minions elsewhere on site for those that enjoy minions (ts, ahh, etc etc) instead of essentially wasting space every month in the collection.
8

Buttercream

As someone who loves seeing minions, I am not very fond of this change. The reduction in items is severe as the Collections use to offer everyone a little something to consider purchasing. Now...its all wearables and a book. I feel like we won't see as many unique items because they won't fall into the event/holiday themed releases.

The items released into the MC are themed around seasons.
The items released into the Quest Giver shops are themed to match their respective giver.
Most items released through the Free Gift area are tributes.
Token Shop items are primarily wearables and books.
The holiday shop is gone, not really a bad thing, but all the items released into the respective event shop are themed around the event (ie, Zombies = lots of gore/undead, Keelhaul = Pirates, Masquerade = Steampunk and metal)
Trivia is gone, which use to give unique items.
Regular shops receive new stock very, very rarely now. Once a year maybe? Hell, the Minion's Market has released 6 new minions since April 2014.

I guess my point is that the collection use to be a great source for new items that didn't fit into any one mold. They were special in their own way and provided a breath of fresh air. Now I wonder where that will happen.

Foolkillersfancy

@Amber
Oh Damn!! Lmao!! But still, #SaveKeith
0

Gunnarr

I'd rather have fewer items if that means the items that are released are higher (or more consistent) quality, or the focus is on fixing or revamping other things! And that sundial is spectacular!
2

Muerte

I love victory rolls ♥️
The BG is stunning, and the sun dial is clever (and pretty).
1

Sopheroo

@Amber

The thing is - wearables are still going to be bulk of most collections. I get that they sell more, but they shouldn't be too high proportioned compared to everything else.

7 would have been preferable to 5. That would have allowed a minion or a collectible in there.

I know that this isn't a final template, but I'm going to be really surprised if we get a collection of 6 items where only 2 are wearables.
2

Amber

We'll tell him after we revamp the items @Foolkillersfancy :x
6

Foolkillersfancy

@Amber
How does your brother feel about this? lmao!! #SaveKeith
5

Paradise

There might be some collections that don't have a book?? My wallet thanks you.
All in all, I like this new plan. Also the items for this month are GORGEOUS. I am not usually super into wears but good gosh, those wigs are something else <3
4

Amber

We're killing Keith off, sorry @Foolkillersfancy
14

Foolkillersfancy

@Amber
NO!! Some of us oldies have @Keith Galleries or sections in our galleries.. I love my Keith items and also.. They are part of the site's history. #SaveKeith
5

Amber

Like I said further down, this isn't the exact template for every month @Sopheroo. :)
1

Bug

Agree with @Sopheroo. 5/6 wearables is a bit skewed. I have no complaints about having 5 instead of 10 items per collection, but I am hoping to see more non-wearables, or at least wearables that double as minion or food for instance. There are a lot of cs wearables, like cws and the boutique, and I liked the monthly collections giving us some variety from that.
6

Marlboro

@Ariel LOL please make it official for a while xD

The Story That Never Ends

it's an infinity scroll -- i see what you did there!
2

marvel

Wait, there aren't collectibles in the monthly collections anymore? THANK YOU SUBETA THIS IS THE GREATEST GIFT YOU COULD HAVE GIVEN
13

Sirensong

Oh my gosh - Thank you SO much to whomever just sent me the beanbags! What a nice thing to do.
1

Sopheroo

Really disappointed at the lack of diversity in the items chosen.

Five wearables out of six. What was fun about collections is that there were fun for everyone. Now, wearable collectors get fun and...people who like minions get nothing.

Hopefully future months won't be this lopsided, because this kinda sucks.
22

Galaxia

@Desolace

And it's one use, a fact I didn't realize until I'd thrown mine at Aboxalypse or some other unworthy foe. :(
1

Ariel

@Marlboro
Right she doesn't even look like that anymore. Here you go, I revamped it for you:

32

fizz

Ugh such a beautiful backdrop :3 and I'm really excited to see what this month's theme brings!!
0

bonecrivain

Oh good, just what we all wanted for the new year: inflation.
0

Darkrai

@Amber That's good to hear! But it's still weird to not need anything at the release (though my wallet says thanks)
0

janine

@Helly, why should there be a price change? You still only get to pick one item per collection box you buy. Why should the price go down just because there's less to pick from?
18

Desolace

@Marlboro
I'm laughing so hard, I didn't knew this item existed?! And it's a Tier 8 weapon?? *bwahaha*
10

Amber

It won't be this setup every month, @Darkrai. We'll be playing with the items some (like one month might not have a backdrop, it could have a critter) or instead of a food item it might be a plushie. WHO KNOWS. IT'S A WORLD OF POSSIBILITIES FOR COMBOS.
1

Darkrai

Anyway I'm sorta disappointed about the lack of collection items but this now is the first collection I haven't needed anything at all from ._.
5

Lantern

Why would the price change though? You still get to select an item like always.
20

Darkrai

"There are less items to choose from, meaning people will have to buy less collections, so they should also cost less!"
What is with this logic
35

Amber

@Marlboro Ideally, yes, we'd like to get rid of Keith items and other real world icons haha. We've got some NPCs we can replace those people with :)
7

bluemoonlightgirl

5? That's a bit disappointing. Lovely items though.
9

Helly

"You’ll notice we’ve decided to change up monthly collections this year. Instead of 10 items, we’ll only be doing 5."

it would be really nice if the price reflected this!
15

Marlboro

@Amber

omg so finally the one and only super weird, please revamp item aka -
Nicole Richie
will get a revamp?!
And no more Keith items but King Keith items? bye bye Amy Lee and hi Gothic girl?
Stay tuned.
11

Amae

@Saber_Lily
I don't understand the logic here. You're still getting one item.

I'm both sad and happy. Sad because less pretty items, happy because there's now less of a chance that I'll need multiple collections.
19

tighnari

on the one hand I'm like :CCCC but the logical side of me is like "yes good less to buy"
2

Kellijuana

I really really appreciate dropping the item count on these! <3 The items are fantastic as usual but five items feels so much less stressful and more obtainable. <3
13

Amber

Nope, price is the same @Saber_Lily.
0

Sirensong

@Amber - nooooooooooo - I'm so close to finishing.
0

Saber_Lily

since there will only be 5 items to choose from are you going to lower the price? maybe to 200 csc?
7

Mythology

Gotta love the background, and I love the cut down on the items in some ways (dislike in another way). I'm glad we're still doing past month collections too.
1

Amber

we aren't doing time travel, @Marlboro. This is a good month where we can do revamps and what not (fixing our past items etc)
7

Marlboro

Why only 5?! :(

Time traveling plot confirmed?!
3

finch

Beautiful items!
0

Amber

We'll have a cool time themed beanbag released in one of our special shops, @Sirensong. SO YOU'LL STILL HAVE TO GET A BEANBAG... SOMEWHERE.
5

Sirensong

I could not be more thrilled that there is no beanbag this month.
7

Backgammon

loving the five-item system! means i can spend more on old collections :3
11

operationivy

Those are incredible and 5 items is fine with me! Especially when their high quality, well-done and well drawn with a good concept. All of our items are always great in my opinion.
18

Hamlet

I adore the male wig! I think there was only 2 or 3 items last year that i wanted from collections but this month alone i want 3!
0

Tigtorres

Nice!
0

Zii

I'm only saying that because it will make each collection more valuable... Just to clarify, because that sounded bad
1

StarShadow

Oh wow, I love the poster :D
0

Digitalis

Victory rolls and armor? Subeta, you shouldn't have.
6

Zii

Sweet!
