What, no new minion? :(

I love that background a whole lot!!

I may not be one of the main buyers for minions and books, but when I do its only with sp. I dont have much cash to put towards subeta, so for me it goes to wears as they can be both tc/wear/gallery due to the ci and such. Im all for books and beanbags/minions/plushies elsewhere, and it sounds like they will be. So all in all it gives me a chance to buy as I always have with more choices for non wears. I dont see any issue with this or it being more on quality wears.

Especially with my lack of liking many collection items for a while, or at least not liking them enough to spend 250csc each.

These though are amazing, the victory roll hair totally reminds me of dolores and I want it even though its blonde and I very rarely buy blonde wigs here. So to me that goes to show that the quality can mean even colour doesnt matter to me.

Plus these violent delights have violent ends, and I cant complain when that sort of logic is part of what I see ;D

@Keith: I guess I was used to seeing 10 items in one box and the sudden change made it feel a little bit odd? And I suppose I also forgot about the one item per box before and also now, cause I haven't been purchasing the collection boxes. Always kept forgetting about it when I wanted to buy each month.

@Keith: I guess I was used to seeing 10 items in one box and the sudden change made it feel a little bit odd? And I suppose I also forgot about the old one item before and also now, cause I haven't been buying the collection boxes. Always forgot about it when I wanted to buy one each month.

I think the new change is AWESOME!! It should allow me to catch up on all the DC's I was unable to buy bc they held books & I can't just read 1 book to just 1 pet, then I have to put 1 in my gallery, so ALL of those add up!! The only change I do NOT like is the elimination of "my" Keith items!! Question: Do we get any compensation for the items you take away from us?? I know I have spent a fortune in sP getting a majority of my Keith, Amy Lee & my NPC's (I have a horrible memory & can't remember if they were trapped or captured, it was something along those lines)!! Otherwise, I have been very happy to have been playing SUBETA as long as I have, good times & bumpy times. I've always been impressed with what Keith started & at what age he did it!! I know I sound like a suck up but I'm very sincere when I say that. I <3 this site & the wonderful ppl on here!!
Shadow
Well, I for one appreciate that I don't have to buy double what I used to anymore lol... unless I want duplicates x.x crud. Didn't think this through.

@FLUX now i just turned green an purple rofl :)

...and dont give her ideas !!! just dont !!!!

whispers i am 8 plushies away from a full collection !! so wait a little year with that ( fu*K you idea ) for complainers okay ????
theladywrath
The sands of time poster reminds me of that aurora place (or is aurora the person you go see? I can't remember its been a long time) in fable 3. I like it.
Beren
@FLUX I am still laughing so hard thinking about the plushie chance machine epic

I also want to add
it sort of makes me angry and sad to see all those complains.
I have soend some time on other pet sites adn to be honest the staff here is doing an awesome job.
I've always had fast responses - things seem to be though through (and be changed for a reason)
and we get an explanaition.

Maybe I am not choosy enough - but I feel pampered with the way the stuff handels things here.

As said before, I am happy that there are only 5 items now, since I still need bunches of items from old collections -
so I am not complainng.
Cerredwyn
@CaveAdsum I don't understand the complaining either (I had a bit of a rant about it, but I deleted it before I sent it, lol) and have to say that I'm SO glad Keith addressed the issue of why would the price change. It's pure logic that one item from a collection is the same price, regardless of whether the choice was between 5 or 10 items. It's still a rare item that cost 250 CSC.

. . . and NOW my pet has read 2000 books!! Hooray and thanks, subeta and Keith, for another book!!!
Keith STAFF
@MOKONA Why would the price change? You were getting one item before and you're still getting one now.
CaveAdsum
I really don't understand any complaining. I really like the change to only 5 Items. I also hope there will be less wearables next time. Far better for us. Love this collectionn though I can't find out the actual reference, still a least two items I really really want! Hopefully that means we now get some more regular items and artists habe more time for other stuff. The art quality has been getting better and better already and I can't wait to see what more is to come now they'll have even more time!
Cerredwyn
I was going to say something about the olden days but I decided not to. Instead I'll just say that I don't mind waiting for things, so if one of these months a collection did NOT have a book in it (MY personal fave are the books) I would actually be relieved. I am working constantly at keeping my pet as high on the readers list as I can. Every new book that comes out is always going to (eventually) be bought and read to all the other pets who are vying for position. OMG, I just realized that as soon as I buy this and read the book to my pet she will be at 2000 and I just checked the list. "Penny" will then be in 24th place and tied with another pet (Pinna who is at 2000 right now). OH MY goodness how cool is this!! My baby will have read 2000 books, in a matter of minutes. Whoot!! Scurrying off to do that, and before I leave I will say "How COOL is it that we can now earn CSC at the bathhouse, I am SO glad of this cause my little retirement check from Soc Sec can't handle much with the rising price of everything in the world. :) Thank you Keith for that!!!
Oasis
At least I'll be spending CSC on the older items then.The items in this bag don't appeal to me at all, not even for TC items for my pets.I hope with the item reduction in both this MC and future MCs,this means they'll finally update some of the older items in the DPs and past MCs.Some of art for the items are pretty badly dated,especially some of the wearables.I also hope things will be switched up through out the MCs over the months,and it won't just be wearables all the time.
MOKONA
Hmm... So the price is still going to stay the same even though the number of items has dropped down to 5 per box? It seems a little pricey... shrug

So collectibles will be bought separate or the collections can be alternated. I'm definitely not against this change...
Trendy
I just wished DP wigs were unlockable in the saloon. Some are some pretty, but I'd prefer the styles in a different color or two. :(
Ambition
@Amber
lol ok, no tease, I'll wait (quite impatiently). lol XD

;)
Amber STAFF
@Ambition We’re going to move away from zodiacs, that’s for sure! Who knows what’s in store other than that for Delish though!
Ambition
@Amber

Ohh, that would explain why I have noticed it. I really really really hope we do not get another theme that centers on that theme again. I just need some new variety.
Any hints? lol

If my two cents count I like tropical themes, or European themes, since we have not done those (to my knowledge). Or color theme, each set focusing on different colors and their associated emotions/feelings.
Amber STAFF
@Ambition Well, we did two zodiac years. The first were the Capricorn, Leo, etc. The second year (which we finish this month) have been the chinese zodiac, which is why there’s been a lot of heavy asian influence.
Ambition
@Amber
I forgot to ping you in my last post - sorry. ♥️ :cookie:

@Keith @Amber
You guys are doing a good job.

Now I love wearablez like a lot. I like the change to 5 items I think. I was worried originally rhat my phone hadn't loaded properly. I love the quality and that it gives artist a chance to work on revamps or other stuff for the site.

I do agree with @buttercreme how the are mostly theme based when they are been released on site lately, when not through the collections. I do also really like @Ambition suggestion about having a csc market for minions for like 100 csc might help bring them back to a profitable margin.

This is my two cents, no one has to listen to it or he'll read it.
Ambition
lol :D I love minions and cute things. ♥️

Well I do hate chance machines, but outside of that I have yet to hate anything coming from the CS (at least in terms of item variety and release time frame).

I do have a random question: is it ever going to be possible to step back from creating only Asian-kimono themed boutique sets? Just curious because they seem to all have this theme over longer than a year.
Xenalicious
I'm gonna pass this month. But, I'm gonna get a few items from past collections. <3
Amber STAFF
@Ambition just u wait YOU’LL GET SO TIRED OF THEM
@FLUX perfect, don't forget stray hairs
FLUX
*animal dolls I hate you phone
FLUX
@Amber
Just add some stitching to the animals fills and BAM there's a million plushies ready
Ambition
@Amber
Yes, I know but I like seeing the new ones every month or so and it seems like we only get new CS items rarely (usually in the boutique really).
Amber STAFF
@Ambition We already have that in themed items (and the minions/collection items are generally cheaper so they sell a bit better)!
@Buttercream Honestly, I didn’t think about the asian influence when I put the rooster at Dara’s. Keith and I were brainstorming something to do with it other than making it a free gift (making you work for it a bit!). I get your point though, and like I said we’re working on it. :)
@FLUX THAT IS A GREAT IDEA I LOVE IT
Jules
I will not ping people (cause I'm lazy and don't want to scroll up and down through the comments) however, who ever complained about the site being down a lot... what? are you kidding? The site used to go down for days at a time and was super super super laggy all the time. I just started visiting/playing again on December 1st 2016 after only playing sporadically for the last year or so (prior to that I was a more consistent player) and I have to say the site is the fastest I have ever seen it! Super fast! Short down times! Issues addressed super fast! KUDUS SUBETA TEAM!!! You guys rock!

While I was a little shocked at first about the collections going from 10 to 5, I think in the end it's a good decision. And my favorite part is this:
"Previous January Donation Presents and Collections are now available in the Cash Shop!
You can now choose what you want out of the January Donation Presents rather than receive a random item when you open it!"

Thank you thank you thank you!!!
Now I just have to make sure I visit every month to catch the collections I missed last year and also the ones from the earlier beginning years too!
FLUX
I'm just sitting here waiting for @Amber to reveal a chance machine with 100 plushies as a fuck you to all the people whining about there being none

Would plushies that double as a wearable be an option? I know that this has been avoided in the past but it's actually quite cool when we get dual items that are food wears and such.
Andrea
Okay so I am totally legit with just five items as long as long as they stay wear heavy and don't go book heavy because you can resell wears not books so that mess adds up fast. I could go as high as two books but anymore than that and I'll be cranky.
RoxyWolf
@bonecrivain
"you kept the money-making ones and chopped off any that weren't creating a profit for the site."

That's kind of the point. The point Keith and co are trying to make that, regardless of the theme or (wholly subjective) quality of the items put out in collections, the items weren't selling enough to make up for the cost and time investment of designing them. Regardless of how the items look or what they are themed around, the collections items were simply not big sellers, not even enough to break even -- and since Subeta is ultimately a business, they had to go.

And, as other staff have said, the make-up of the DC boxes will not be static, and the items within will continue to vary between wearables and other items to give everyone an option of something to purchase if HAs aren't their thing! Collections items will be implemented in other parts of the site as regular content, so it's not as though beanbags and plushies and (my favorite,) minions will be gone forever! It's all going to work out. This is something new to adjust to, but it's a change for the betterment of the site overall.

Ultimately this change is a good thing, because it allows the artists to focus on more productive tasks that benefit the site as a whole, like revamping old pets and items and creating content for other parts of the website. Which will, indirectly, make the site money, by keeping users engaged with new features and the new content down the road, instead of costing them money by designing for-profit items that do not turn a profit. It's a move that makes sense.

And, respectfully as art is subjective, I absolutely disagree with your perception that the art quality on the site has gone downhill. I've honestly not been this engaged with Subeta in a long time, and I'm a fan of what I've been seeing from the artists. To each their own, but please don't disparage the hard work of the people who put their skills to the benefit of the site.
Buttercream
@Amber - I completely understand the reduced art team and I understand that we're coming off the most packed part of the Holiday season. The issue I am having is the LACK of opportunities for wholly unique items. The minions released during Luminaire were all winter themed (aka a Snow Man, Gingerbread men, a cat in a blanket, ect), the ones for the New Years shop are all party oriented, the ones from Charity during Fireside are the most unique and special but based on real-life creatures, a group of color filled Alchemy werepups, spooky/pumpkin/phugs in costume themed Morostride, and a lot of nifty RL insects from Quentin, Pirate and RL aquatic creatures for Keelhaul.

What I am seeing is a recipe being followed, which the Collections didn't follow. Yes, the Collections have themes but those themes aren't normally integrated into the Subetan-verse. I like that there will be new minions released but like the newest one, its a Rooster and it fits the mold of the Chinese Zodiac and it released in Dara's shop, which is Asian influenced. What gets released into the Carnival shop will be clown themed or really odd derpy minions. Again, I'm back to the fact they are following a recipe. The expectation is that when these items are created they are following an already established format.

My issue has been solely focused on NEW items. Re-Releases in the TS do not fit into that. I appreciate the releases of some items but what is new is skewed towards wearables.

@Keith - In my first post, I stated that I understood the changes. I'm not screaming for minions to be re-established into the Collections. Instead I am pointing out that the Collections were one of the last places for really special unique minions to be released that don't fall into already established formats elsewhere on site.

Look, I get the change. I understand that Subeta is a business and it needs to make a profit. My worry is that all the money making eggs are going into one basket, books and wearables. I have purchased a Collection or 5 almost every month for the time I have been playing Subeta and for me this change makes me less likely to spend anything and that makes me sad is all.
Ambition
put the minions in cash shop separate? I would buy cute foods/minions/collection items from the cash shop for a lower price, like 100 CSC?
Sleeb
As long as there's cool wearables! :D
Tammy
Make no mistake, that sundial is GORGEOUS. whomever did that should be showering themselves in, well whatever one showers themselves in when they want warm and fuzzies ;)
Keith STAFF
@bonecrivain "A site run purely for money" wouldn't look anything like Subeta - you'd have twelve ads on the page and only be able to reach parts of the site if you'd paid for them. That's just a ridiculous statement to make when there are such obvious examples of that type of site in all of our minds (Neopets, marapets, etc) and Subeta is not that.

I'm not going to go into depth on how budgeting from our end works, but the collection was becoming unprofitable because of the items that we've taken out. That's the long and short of it, and we've made a change that makes the collections a better investment of our time. I'm sure the items that were taken out (minions, beanbags, plushies) will find their way onto the site in other ways, and quite possibly in the cash shop for less CSC (because 250 seemed to be too much).
bonecrivain
As for the quality reduction...you've burned out some of your artists and lost others over the years by pushing unreasonable quotas on them. Some weren't able to continue drawing at all; others started churning out lower-quality items or "sets" in a variety of colors because it was easier to hit a quota with those than it would be to spend time thinking of truly unique, interesting items. Subeta's art is still, overall, pretty dang good, and I'm obviously still sticking around and occasionally making new pets when there's new art I love. It's just not at the height/output that it used to be. Seems like a lot of that's due to having to hit a bottom line, which is understandable enough but a real shame. Especially when the site is still plagued by constant downtime and other issues that a site run purely for money shouldn't be struggling with at this point in its lifetime.
bonecrivain
"Because they're taking a spot from an item that will actually earn money" - but you didn't replace them with ones that will make money? You just reduced the number of items. You didn't make more high quality items that would make the site money - you kept the money-making ones and chopped off any that weren't creating a profit for the site.
Saber_Lily
I am hoping you will make certain months back to 10 items, like October
Sopheroo
@Keith

Are collections on average more profitable than themed sets released in the past? Talking thing like the Jeweled Hippocampus stuff, where most items are around 150 CSC a pop.

Collections have the "hurry up you only have 30 days to buy them factor" while the themed sets are often there for 6 months, but the average item price is lower.
Keith STAFF
@bonecrivain Also I absolutely take offense to the idea that the quality of items has gone down, and 100% disagree with that premise. I'd be interested to see items that you're talking about, or what creative items you've had in the past that you think you aren't seeing these days.
Keith STAFF
@Sopheroo Sure, except that we have access to the amount of items sold from collections, and those items don't sell and we lose money on putting them in there instead of a clothing item.

@bonecrivain Because they're taking a spot from an item that will actually earn money. When we put out the collections we anticipate them making a certain amount based on the items inside, and the number of hours worked by the artists to put them out. Unfortunately, the collection items (plushies, beanbags, and minions) have stopped passing that threshold but the wearables always go past it, and have subsidized the other items for the past 6-12 months, but we've decided to stop doing that.
Roybn
I think people have a hard time accepting the argument that the staff has offered up because logically speaking if you deminish the amount of items in a set it should mean the artist that's doing the items should have more than enough time to wow us with the quality of what they do roll out and these items don't cater to collectors of stickers, minions, beanbags etc so while five items may be more "economic" I agree with the idea that cutting these items out of the set this month wasn't a good economic move on the soul basis that these items aren't up to par with the items in past collections that have had ten.
Sopheroo
@Amber @Keith

The thing is - we have a lot of Cash Shop items, so turning the collections into Yet More Clothes And We Guess Another Item is...not that interesting to people who don't buy clothes.

I seldom bought collections in the last two years, and it's going to turn into "I never buy collections" because there are already a lot of outlets to have cash shop clothes, and really few for everything else.

Outside of the obvious custom wearables, we already have a lot of outlets for wearables: we have two permanent chance machines who give out wearables (plus the seasonal ones), we have the Boutique, we have the costume trunk section, and most of the themed items added are wearables.

It was fun to have at least one thing in the cash shop that wasn't 90% wearables, something that made everyone happy. Even if some items were less profitable, at least, everyone felt included.

In the past two years, I seldom bought collections, now, it's going to slip into "I never buy collections" because I feel like you're putting all of your eggs into one basket.

tldr - non-wearable cash shop content is also important if you want to make money
bonecrivain
If you can't afford to have artists draw minions for cash shop items that still sell (if less than wearables), how can you afford to have artists draw minions for non-cash shop items? It makes no sense to me, and it feeds into this pattern I've been seeing of Subeta losing artists and the quality/output of art/enjoyable items going down significantly over time. I've been on this site for YEARS, and I used to always have stuff I needed to buy, including things I'd periodically spend real money on. Nowadays I add very little to my wishlist. I'm one of the people who doesn't care at all about the wardrobe, so unless the item itself is pretty (like this sundial is), I just scroll past without bothering. I understand a business has to make money, but in order for a business to make money, it's also gotta keep its customers happy and invested.
Cass
I'm excited that we're only getting five items. So much less pressure if the monthly theme is one that I really like. x:
