Old Plushie Revamps
We’ve fluffed some old plushies and given them a fresh coat of stitches. How great do they look? You can find some of them for sale in the Crystal Shop!

No, I think those items are different for the reason you stated. It's mostly just edible pus, poop, vomit, drool, etc from Half Baked that don't feel like they make sense in the context of zombies or anything else on the site. The items really don't even make my stomach turn like some others have mentioned, so that's certainly not why I brought it up. It's not even about being politically correct or avoiding offending anyone like someone else mentioned, it's not even prudishness - those items just don't actually feel like a relevant or cohesive part of anything.
Mostly they just remind me of that stage that very young kids usually go through where they're fascinated/highly amused with bodily functions and want to talk/joke about it constantly. Some of them never really seem to grow out of it, and I guess that's the impression I've always gotten with this line of items.

I probably wouldn't bat an eyelash if I saw these items on Neopets just because their target audience always seemed to be a lot younger. Im all for moving any of those as you guys call them 'gross' or bodily function foods to zombie shops, but phasing out things with eyes/bones/brains and stuff would suck. I think the designs for those are so creative and I have a organ related gallery/zombie ish pet Ive been collecting for.
Sure the poo thing is a bit more out there, but I know people who collect those as well.
I agree they seem weird in the food market, so just move them? Not as many people who have issues with those sorts of things go in to the underground zombie shops I would guess. So they would be less easily seen/weirdly mixed in to real food/etc.

Another 30+ user here, don't you dare change the food. I've been saving gross stuff and all poop items for a tc for forever now. If you don't like them, just collect chocolate stuff instead. Ugh.

@Moin Do you think food items with things like eyeballs, guts and other body parts in them be removed as well? Because that's quite a big chunk of items that would have to go. And zombies don't just eat brains, they eat any sort of human flesh so it makes sense for them to exist on the site.

Bigtime agree with phasing out the bodily function food - I can justify the stuff that's brains and such as zombie food, but some of them are just stomach-turning. I've always kind of told myself it's just my own sensitivities about food, but it's been nice to read these comments and see I'm not the only one??

I don't expect them to all be phased out but I do agree with someone else's comment here that it makes the site's maturity level seem weirdly low, but I don't think we've had really "edgy" items like that come out for quite a while? And the newest zombie food (I do think zombies can do better than poop imo) was those beautiful bug cake items, which where so creative! As long as the site is moving forward creatively I think it's fine.
I mean... we could probably move poopy peanut butter to the lost skelleton or just, anywhere out of the food market haha.

oh please don't change poop to chocolate. I'm a reasonably mature 35 year old. I don't come here with expectations for every item to be politically correct and offensive to none. Hubby saw me scrolling through food related achievements recently and bust up laughing that I was only a couple poop foods from an achievement for my poor pet - bless her she'll eat anything for that gourmand....

I would like more of an exp!anation on this. Are all Keith items to be removed? I was young when my mom and younger sister got into this site, and was a fan of his in that time, even though I was a WoW player, not a virtual pet player. I didn't get into pet sites until later, but I was a fan back in the beginning; right after Xanga, when Myspace was the main thing; when Keith, and his open mind, were so prominent. It influenced a lot of my decisions growing up. In fact, it was the only thing making me remember Subeta after all of these years. This does not sit well with me. Keith is Subeta. Subeta is Keith. Keith being visible and part of the site helped hook me on Subeta. It made this place like a side family. Now I feel sad.

@Brian : I agree with the Neopets thing. I was actually on it for almost 5 years, then the site kicked me out because I was using a friends' mothers' email as my starter because I kept having issues with rememberng passwords/mysteriously non-existant usernames, and the fact that I was 8!...With a retro Macontosh -- one of those cool rounded and colored ones that sometimes had a clear back that you could see the awesome circuits and everything! Still have BOTH/ALL THREE/ I DON'T KNOW in our possession:P
13 years have gone by now, it's been roughly 8 years since I abandoned that game, had two active usernames until that email code crap happened, and to think I had finally obtained a Hissi in one of them.
That code thing was the last straw; I was constantly frustrated at how hard it was to even FINISH ONE DAMN QUEST, or even to get enough points and stuff in events. What kinda kid would know how to conplete all those plotline puzzles?! The petpet and petpetpet worlds were fine, but it lost its appeal with all those SUPER EXCLUSIVE items that cost a crapload of real money to acheive....
I found this world to have an endless supply of pure joy and awe, and a MUCH easier way of expanding your reach. It may have taken me around 5 years to officially get past the 2,000,000 sp mark, but it was well worth it! And the CSC is now MUCH more obtainable ( I came around about 3 years before that even existed!).
Aaaaaaaannnnyyyyyyywaaay, I just wanted to spew out some of that personal history there.....sorry if I broke something in your head!

I'm sorry, WHAT?!!!!! You did NOT just ruin all the Kieth plushies with modern NPCs! Those things took me me 8 YEARS to collect what I have now, and you just RUINED ALL THE OLDIE ART!!!! Keith wanted to leave/sell the site, I am pretty sure he would tell us in a news announcement. I highly doubt he would just have his name taken off of everything and just leave without saying anything.
He just didn't want his 14 yr old self's things all over the site anymore. He grew up, so the site is growing up with him. *shrug*

The new plushies are beautiful and I love them, but the old Keith items were super nostalgic and a part of Subeta's history. I get wanting to phase out real world stuff from Subeta, but Keith is very important to Subeta and an actual character in Subeta universe so I don't understand why they couldn't be kept.

I understand and fully appreciate the phasing out real world things idea. But I don't like the idea of completely replacing items with something entirely different, so there's not even a trace of what the item used to be. At least for the Amy Lee and Nicole Richie plushie, they could have been renamed something like "Goth Plushie/Goth Rock Star Plushie" and "Rich Plushie/Rich Girl Plushie". None of those names are even used by another official item. I can see how the Keith ones are difficult to rename to something generic (though.. King Keith exists as a character in the world, so they could all just be renditions of the character King Keith...?) Also, maybe this is just me and kind of nitpicky... I don't like Melody's Cottage/Advent Calendar items being retconned, even if it is REALLY old. Also more nitpicking... I may be wrong on this, though from what I can tell: Mauve was released as a character after (2007) the existence of the Luminaire Keith Plushie (2005). All that said... I do think these shopkeeper plushies are very nice looking and happy they exist, I like seeing more NPC stuff.

Yes, but say someone had a pet treasure or gallery category dedicated to the site itself, including the entire set of user icon plushies... now suddenly the black one has poofed into something new. It just doesn't sit well with me for some reason. *shrug* The most I had to do was remove what was now a Mauve Plushie out of my Luminaire gallery section. The same thing happened when Subeta changed a bunch of the old trading cards into the newer ones, with new names and art... I had ones in a pet treasure chest that related to the character and they changed overnight and it was confusing. I'm just being nit picky. :P

We've been working on phasing out real world themed items (like holidays and people) and bringing them into the Subeta lore instead for a few years now! We've got quite the backlog but have been making progress updating everything :)

There's a set of User Icon plushies that includes the blue, gold, NPC green, staff member red, and mini mod purple though, so those still make sense as part of the site I guess. At least multiple people have the other ones, the Keith icon was just a special one for him.

Don't really agree with replacing existing items in general though... it's going to mess up galleries and treasures. (as I was typing this my sis had to remove ones from treasures)
Also messed up things on my wishlist. They were most likely the old Keith Plushies, since the White Tiger Plushie was Keith's Tiger Plushie or something like that, wasn't it
