A Grave Confession

Thorpe: Greetings, Subeta, I am Inspector Thorpe of the Ziara City Police Department. Delightful evening, isn't it? I was on my holidays in Veta this week when I got the strangest call to my personal telephone. It appears I will be lengthening my stay here, as a certain Alegarten…that is, "Neugarten" figurehead has been causing a bit of a stir, and things possibly aren't what they seem to be. I'm going to be making some inquiries, looking around for some evidence, I expect this will be a long and tiring case that will take many days if not months to fully understand, I'm not sure my-

Inspector Thorpe is interrupted by Gunter.

Gunter: Inspector Thorpe, I am glad to see you here. I have a grave confession that I need to make. Something that has been haunting me for many years now, und I have come to realize that there is only one thing I can do that will make it right. Well, it won't make it right, but it is what is deserved. I'd like to confess to the murder of my brother, Burkhart Brauer.

Thorpe: Well, it seems I've cracked the case! I mean, is that right, son? If you'd like to come with me, we'll go down to the local station and go through some questioning and get this all written down. It's nice to have a break from work but it's even nicer to close a case! Now, follow me this way-

Inspector Thorpe is interrupted again by a suave official-looking gentleman.

Cardale: Hello, Inspector. I'll be taking it from here. We've had our eye on this man for a while, and we'll be taking him back with us.

Thorpe: What the wizard! Taking my case from me? I'm not sure I'm happy about this, who are you anyway?

Cardale: Cardale. Jack Cardale. I'm with the SAI. We have a high security detention facility up in the Arctic Frost, and this is a little out of your jurisdiction, wouldn't you say? I can't promise he'll be comfortable there, but he'll have plenty of time to do a lot of thinking. Good work, Inspector. You're doing a fine job.

The inspector huffs and puffs but accepts.

Gunter: Thorpe, can you give this to my niece, Anne? She works at Quick Bites. She needs to read this. I think she may already know a lot of it, but I need to tell her the whole story.

Inspector: Hmm, I suppose a nice meal wouldn't go amiss.

Cardale: It's doubtful you'll find one at Quick Bites, Inspector. And I'll be taking a photo copy of that letter before you go.

@Laurey another murder yep
Laurey
@Amber
Oh wait, I knew the old zapper lab got destroyed, but I didn't realize that character actually got blown up too. So that terracoon is one of the unliving now? :o
lovecraft
@Chat
I have an alibi. I was killing someone else at the time.
Frieda
@Chat : Drown 'em in a mash tun, roll 'em down a cliff...yup, I confirm your suspicions.
capper09
snieff... i no understand that, is that a plot or event? who can translate it in german please?
Amber STAFF
@Solsticesprite No, the wyllop was Euclid at one point. I’m talking to Terracoon that was blown up by Euclid :p and now does shading dealings underground wit the VIP program.

Selcoeurl
@Amber: Yeah, they need bigger gloves.
But on a more serious note: I think it's mostly foreshortening. He's holding out his badge so that we can see it; therefore, his hand is closer to the fourth wall and looks bigger.

@Lin: I'm fine with the vegan food being there as an option, as long as "option" is the key word. But, seeing as Gunter had gone vegan, I don't think him not being in charge from here on out would really make a difference as to whether it's vegan or not. And based on his letter, it sounds like Anne—the only other known Brauer—is going to be a lot busier around Alegarten/Neugarten time for at least a while.

@Solsticesprite: I took it to refer to what stops surfacing when someone drowns.
ayashe
Aw, no plot
Masquerade
And now I have Pipping shouting in my head "He's not dead, he's not dead!"

Mayano
I feel that this is a setup for a later plot...

Can't wait for a weekday so I can go see what's up down at the SAI.
samson
What's the point of this if it's not a plot?
Didi
omg I first thought it's a plot too!! Cause I was like wow this'll be my first plot xD
SeussMD
I liked Gunter and Alegarten, if this is a standalone that gets rid of the holiday (or the character) or changes it to 'Vegan Fest', I'm going to be SO disappointed. That seems really uncalled for.
Yenetai
Jack Cardale pls

@colorWIRED
Uhhh... we had a plot where we trusted the islanders and they murdered a little girl to appease a sea witch. Subeta's always been dark.
colorWIRED
I'm not complaining but has Subeta got a little dark lately?
I love the effort but i've been watching someone play Life is Strange and i'm like, emotionally overloaded lol.
operationivy
I'm always ready for a good mystery so this is right up my alley!
Isilven
I had to make a crappy meme to commemorate this occasion.

Under Here for quality memes

I excitedly click on the news and think oh holy carp... a plot. Then I come here and see nope.

:(

@Tea_Roll
Stuff and nonsense! This is clearly @lovecraft's doing and more her style and all to frame poor hapless Gunter. Anyone who would slap a pillow for singing a beloved camp song would not flinch at the thought of murder for personal gain
Alcremie
Sure, it's not a whole lot, but at least it's some form of closure.
Isilven
Oh man. After reading Anne's response and the letter?

Ipsi
So we can only read the letter for now?
Solsticesprite
The NPC that ran the other zapper was a subeta pet some kind of wyllop, not a zombie? We know how zombification happens in Subeta, it's an infection,so the whole idea of Bubbles becoming zombified doesn't add up with just being murdered in a vat. I think Gunter wasn't as drunk as he says he was and was subjected to horrible mind-altering vat-chemicals and just doesn't remember it. Thorpe and Cardale are part of a coverup!
MerlinPendragon
Was this your way of getting rid of a character? Don't understand the use of this, if any. I hope I will understand eventually. Does it means no more fest? Or a different kind of fest?
Jotaro
Oh welp, it's not a plot. Why use the exact same set up then? Guess only so many ways to do this.
Hunger
Ah, I was excited this was a plot, lol. But no...
Anyway, it's good to have more lore and you know, murders and stuff
Amae
Anne, are you okay, you okay, you okay, Anne(y)?
Scathach
:o OH YEAH!!! SO EXCITED!
Austria
I guess if only the unliving are meant to go into the underground, Gunther and Anne never would have seen Bubbles in his current incarnation, so they'd have no idea...
beinagrind
oh never mind just read he's an alcoholic, bad taste
beinagrind
also the thought of gunter walking around everywhere constantly equipped with steins of beer is funny to me #lifegoals
beinagrind
(gasp)
lovecraft
@Tea_Roll
I have an alibi!!! I was busy murdering someone else and hiding the body! My wife @Reaper will testify to what I was doing
Jotaro
About time we get a plot.
radiocomputer98
not what i expected
Tali
All this time I thought Oatmeal was a “she.” Whoops!
SpaceKitty
Whoa! Holy shit, not what I was expecting to read! This is my first year on subeta, so I didn't know there was this much drama.
Tardis
Ok ok. I'm ready

Chrysariel
Awww should be a plot - something interesting?
WinterMoon
Boo hoo, I wanted a plot! :C
Wolfmyth
Not a plot they say....*sigh* Lore building is nice though...I hope we get a little more...
Iknimaya
Tfw you think there's a plot but there's only a not :(
Lunarflight
. . . This means that Anne's dad is Bubbles, doesn't it?
Delirium
Cardale and his Yaoi Hands.
Damon
Ooooooh snap D:
MasterSir
SWEET JUSTICE! Well done, Inspector Thorpe! You've done it again!
Fyreheart
@Laurey
I wasn't here for the first ones so I'm not sure. It's possible I guess since before the Skitters/Ecks plot they were giving out the cures.
MagnificentToaster
Yooo, hey there Cardale. And lol at Gunter sadly confessing to his murder while holding two big foamy beers. Weepy drinks for everyone! (Poor Oatmeal! We accidentally put his care in the hands of a neglectful murderer? Though I suppose Gunter had a LOT of worries to feed him, eh?)
