A Grave Confession

Inspector Thorpe is interrupted by Gunter.

Thorpe: Well, it seems I've cracked the case! I mean, is that right, son? If you'd like to come with me, we'll go down to the local station and go through some questioning and get this all written down. It's nice to have a break from work but it's even nicer to close a case! Now, follow me this way-
Inspector Thorpe is interrupted again by a suave official-looking gentleman.

Thorpe: What the wizard! Taking my case from me? I'm not sure I'm happy about this, who are you anyway?
Cardale: Cardale. Jack Cardale. I'm with the SAI. We have a high security detention facility up in the Arctic Frost, and this is a little out of your jurisdiction, wouldn't you say? I can't promise he'll be comfortable there, but he'll have plenty of time to do a lot of thinking. Good work, Inspector. You're doing a fine job.
The inspector huffs and puffs but accepts.
Gunter: Thorpe, can you give this to my niece, Anne? She works at Quick Bites. She needs to read this. I think she may already know a lot of it, but I need to tell her the whole story.
Inspector: Hmm, I suppose a nice meal wouldn't go amiss.
Cardale: It's doubtful you'll find one at Quick Bites, Inspector. And I'll be taking a photo copy of that letter before you go.

@StarShadow There is a link to the letter in the text at the top under Anne’s NPC image :)

@Fyreheart
I'm guessing that maybe the SAI being there has something to do with Bubbles becoming a zombie after he died, because weren't they part of the original investigations during the first couple of Pandemic/Survival years? That's all I can really think of for why they would be involved.

I also feel like there is still some stuff to be developed eventually. Like does Gunter know that his brother became Bubbles after he died? Bubbles appeared in Gunter's nightmare challenger image, but I'm not sure if that was just for us the users or if Gunter knows. Because it seems like Anne still doesn't know.
And I guess Bubbles is kind of remembering some of this, so will he try to contact Anne if he ends up remembering more?
I need answers. ;~;

This seems odd. I don't see why the Subeta version of the FBI is suddenly involved when the murder wasn't seen as a murder at the time. If Gunter has confessed then he just needs to go to prison and the end happens.
Methinks something bigger is at hand here....

Okay, where's Gunters lawyer! This is obviously a forced confession, people getting murder around here, everyone knows @lovecraft did it!! Now what kind of blackmail does she have on poor Gunter... Unless @Chat did it!! Mr. Frenchie Mc Stick Thrower!!! (There @Spiderwebby. That's my theory)

I'm confused, what are we supposed to do? I went to the link and bought a food item. Now what. I don't see a letter any where. My Firefox keeps freezing up all the time so I don't have a lot of time to try and figure stuff out right now and I don't see a board in the forums on this. So, confused.

@FelineDreams I don't have an answer for that, but a good example of someone being murdered and then popping up underground is the NPC that ran the other Zapper :x
Reading his letter, I'm pretty chuffed to find out that things played out exactly like I speculated they might have (which I didn't truthfully expect; I thought the real explanation would turn out to be something more extreme and implausible). Which means it was all very nicely foreshadowed by the staff. :)
So many questions still left though! Will Anne track down her father, and will he get his memory back once he has some facts? Will she move to the brewery (giving us a new NPC in Quick Bites)? Is Gunter going to just rot up in the arctic forever more now? Will there even be an X-garten next year, and if so what form will it take? (given the drama this year stirred up I wouldn't blame staff if they wanted to ditch the event entirely.)

@Amber so..he died in the vat...how did he get to be a zombie then and lose his arm...? Is that something that is covered somewhere else in lore...?
Now me, I was always headcannoning Bubbles got named for some suppurating wound that isn't immediately apparent on his NPC shop image. Occasionally, it would let out a floating bubble because y'know, unliving zombies they do that?
But no, it's just from BB. sighs

Please tell me this doesn't mean octoberfest is going to turn into veganfest because, seriously? We're better than that.

But at the least I'm glad to see this finally get off the ground. I feel like I've been waiting for weeks!

What about Manwar and Rumi? They were around with Gunter and seemed somewhat aware of the rumors.

Beautiful. Just, perfect.
Well, that happened. As for motive...yeah, I can understand it. Gunter finally had something he could do that his brother couldn't, but doing it all by yourself is such a burden. Having help makes it easier. So I can understand Gunter's frustrations that his brother, who could pick up skills rather quickly otherwise, just couldn't help with the brewery. Plus, add a little one into the mix, and it becomes a tough situation.

Ah, I see now. Updated text on the SAI page as well:

"If you're here to see Gunter, he's currently being processed. I suggest coming back on a weekday."

@Amber
Makes sense, I guess we really haven't seen him since that old Masquerade plot, if I remember correctly. Hopefully Cardale can show up again in the future now that he's got a spiffy makeover. :P
Also curious about Gunter as the battle challenger, since the Brewery is no longer clickable on the Veta map. I guess something will come of that soon?

I've been on and off Subeta for the past few years so I missed a lot of the lore/plots. This is the first one I've seen in a long time and oh boy is it a doozy...
