A Grave Confession

Inspector Thorpe is interrupted by Gunter.

Thorpe: Well, it seems I've cracked the case! I mean, is that right, son? If you'd like to come with me, we'll go down to the local station and go through some questioning and get this all written down. It's nice to have a break from work but it's even nicer to close a case! Now, follow me this way-
Inspector Thorpe is interrupted again by a suave official-looking gentleman.

Thorpe: What the wizard! Taking my case from me? I'm not sure I'm happy about this, who are you anyway?
Cardale: Cardale. Jack Cardale. I'm with the SAI. We have a high security detention facility up in the Arctic Frost, and this is a little out of your jurisdiction, wouldn't you say? I can't promise he'll be comfortable there, but he'll have plenty of time to do a lot of thinking. Good work, Inspector. You're doing a fine job.
The inspector huffs and puffs but accepts.
Gunter: Thorpe, can you give this to my niece, Anne? She works at Quick Bites. She needs to read this. I think she may already know a lot of it, but I need to tell her the whole story.
Inspector: Hmm, I suppose a nice meal wouldn't go amiss.
Cardale: It's doubtful you'll find one at Quick Bites, Inspector. And I'll be taking a photo copy of that letter before you go.

Man, after reading all the comments I'm totally bummed out about this whole thing. Lore building is nice and all but a plot would be stellar right now. Please tell me this will be a future plot of some sort.

Was very excited then i have finally gotten a chance to read the comments by staff and so sad and disappointed now to find out that all this is just lore building and no mini plot or anything going on as of right now! :(
i come back from a hiatus and the alegarten guy has killed the quick bites' girls father....... i ..........

I went to visit Gunter at SAI headquarters and Gunter wasn't up for talking right now...I think he just needs a little time to adjust to his new life.

Dude goes into a vat.... instant superhero, or.. zombie, close enough. Wonder what year it'll be when Thorpe gets tired of Cardale's crap and he mysteriously disappears?

Pretty soon Thorpe is going to absolutely lose it finally this time, what with Cardale stealing his cases LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE TIME lol
@Lariel,
I probably won't be doing much in the way of the plot Wayward Squirrel has started already and that is my priority
@Tea_Roll
Oh bother! Circumstantial my Aunt Fanny! I provided an eye witness who saw the whole sordid affair played out, saw the Papa who built him a home, who fed him and nurtured him framed-yes framed! by Lovecraft-Why? To replace the hops and barley crops in Veta with vineyards

Oh man. I don't know what I find more disturbing...
Gunter's & Bubbles' backstory/lore or that this is not a plot.
I liked him. :(
Also, I'm not sure that I even like Anne that much.
I kinda wish she was the one who was pushed into the vat. :o ;) lol

@Diprosopus: No, we didn't. Burkhart is Bubbles (so-called either based on his initials, or because that's what surfaces when someone is drowning) from The Lost Skeleton.

I'm kind of curious how one handles a murder when the victim is still walking around running a pub. I have been wracking my brain trying to figure out why it doesn't particularly bother me that Gunter killed a dude and was getting away with it and then it struck me that turning someone into an Unliving (however that happened) without their consent isn't the same thing as completely removing them from the world of the living. I mean, sure he deserves to be punished, but I wouldn't punish him the same way I'd punish someone who actually killed someone non-recoverably dead.
I mean, if Bubbles gets his memories back and his relationships with old family and friends are restored... he's not really dead. And I've also wondered if the reason he's dead has anything to do with the zombie pandemic. Because if you kill someone in the process of becoming a zombie before you know that zombification doesn't destroy someone's personhood, that's not the same thing as killing someone because they pissed you off.

@MajorVariola I think she means where is he buried? Since I doubt he has an actual grave (since he's off being a zombie and all) so she might be wondering where Gunter disposed of the body.

.... I'm not being punished by our Empress for starting a feud in the family??..
@Chat
You seem to be building a character strategy in your accusations but that's circumstantial evidence. I'm pretty sure you still need to be able to link her to the murder. There are no witnesses that tie her with any association to any of the parties that are apart of this. She likes her wine not her beer, so she has no reason to frequent this establishment....
@lovecraft @Lariel @Frieda
We may have a case for the Empresses Court....

Gunter confesses to her father's murder in a letter to Anne,which she read-yet she says " Where on Subeta is my father?" Curious.
Is it bad that I had to use a text reader to read that letter for me XD I'm just too tired to read everything lol

I believe the staff care about more with plots with quality than plots with quantity.
The lore is interesting. Up to now I like it how the staff share their lore with us little by little. That's nicer than when they put the whole story in one time. This way to follow a lore is much more exiting.

oh wow i thought Gunter's brother's death was related to the zombie virus. This is pretty heavy stuff.

Hmmm first bubbles is added as a friendly challenger, then gunther is, then this plot happens.........is something going to happen in relation to the other friendly friday challengers? like is Gabriel gonna become a friendly challenger and then there will be a resolution with Olivette and the.....things? that her fear manifested as?

Not a plot but lore is always great! I wonder if we’ll be able to visit Gunther in the detention facility starting Monday?

@Laurey in my country RL raccoons are a major reservoir of rabies. So the rabid formerly zappy but still madsciencey terracoon will-inject-for-sP? Graveyard and Nightmare as colors for pets are potions and not a zombie bite thing like in humans. There's still room for conspiracy theory and epileptic trees in there, I think.
@mouse NPC Bubbles first appeared as shopkeeper with the appearance of the shop The Lost Skeleton. We only knew him as Bubbles because that's how the URL of his image is listed. Burkhart and Brauer are both new names to us.
@disprospus ancient and medieval workers were paid in beer as food for their labor. But really with the unliving and the Omeni, what's a little cannibalism between friends?

OHHHHHH MAN that's a nice revamp! It's so nice to see SAI brought back too!
Can't wait to see where this story goes~ I'm totally okay with no plot tbh, I don't have the energy for it rn and I'm just interested in reading the new lore!
Poor Anne and Burkhart. :(
I may be dumb but did Burkhart/Bubbles only just appear in the Underground already Unliving or was Living Burkhart around a long time ago for Alegarten? I honestly can't remember.

@Solsticesprite
During Survival, if you choose one of the new strains for the current year, you can pick one of them with the description that appeals to you, but you have to wait a couple of hours for the infection to take hold. If you visit the terracoon guy, you can pay a small fee to be infected instantly with one of the new strains (no wait time), but it's random which one you get.

@lovecraft
Pfft! Do you have a witness that can confirm your story? I'm prepared to bribe Oatmeal to claim he saw you give poor what's his face a shove into the masher...I mean encourage the poor orphaned goat to come forward
@Frieda
Obviously anyone who would shave a sweet lil weasel girl such as yourself no doubt has murder and worse in her heart

The Undead Subetans start talking about how they died and soon a bunch of folks gonna go missing.
NPC Bob the Fishing Ontra had something unspeakable happen to him, too. My current headcannon on him is that he fished up a clue about the third stage to free our very own sea-witch and was gonna tell about it. Merana's minions may still be picking his bones.
Me, I pretend to be a zombie hunter during Survival so I have never visited the VIP and have no zombie skins. I thought that was all NPC Gunnar (another NPC with "gu" and schwa-r in their name? Oh noes...). What does the VIP terracoon do for all y'all that go get yourself seriously fatally infected all in the holiday spirit and stuff?
