Story Preview:

The art of being a street-performing mime is a dying profession that not many want to dip their toes in. Similar to the clown, people can feel threatened by mimes and become violent towards them. One old joke goes something like, "if I were invisible I’d go to Paris and beat up a street mime. The applause he would get would be incredible." Some go so far as to alter the joke to say they would beat the mime to death. People even hate mimes so much that there’s a trope dedicated to the hatred.

Dvakto was aware of the backlash towards mimes, but he performed anyway. Every day he would take to the park in his costume and put on a show. Admittedly, the negativity towards him did make him feel depressed, and he would often have an existential crisis; but the occasional laugh from a child or even an adult made it all worth it. The persona he was developing, the main character of his performance, was a clumsy but optimistic man who would ride his bicycle everywhere. Dvakto became a master at pretending to fall off an invisible bicycle and go rolling across the ground. He’d always get up with a smile on his face and shake his head at the bike as if to say, "oh, that pesky thing."
