Jord was born to Anarr and Nott in Jotunheim. She had a tumultuous childhood in which her mother went through many bad relationships before finally finding the right one. Her father, step-father, and several of her mother's boyfriends were loud and controlling. Some of them scared Jord, and the girl would run off into the woods to hide for the rest of the day. This was where she learned of her affinity for the earth and all things that grew on it.
After seeing what her mother went through, Jord promised herself she would never grow attached to any man. Of course, that didn't mean she couldn't have her fun with them, however. Fun with the Jotunn, Fjörgynn resulted in the birth of a daughter named Frigg, who she passed off to be raised by the Norns. Fun with the Aesir, Odin resulted in a son named Thor, whom she nursed until he was of an age, then sent to live with his father. Fun with Ve resulted in a daughter named Eir, who she passed off to her father. Fun with the dwarf Ivald resulted in a daughter named Idunn, whom she left in a basket on the Aesir's doorstep.
Jord was too wild, too untamed, to free-spirited to be tied down to family life, and so though she loved her children she knew it was best to leave them with someone else who would raise the child better. Jord is difficult to find, and yet easy to find at the same time. She can turn into any tree or plant, and go unfound by anyone looking for her, should she so choose(and she usually does). However, if she wanted to be found, she would. All one had to do was call for her and the plants would send the message directly to her, then she would find you.
