Name: Eir
Goddess of: Healing, Medical Skill
Aliases:
Race: Aesir
Gender: Female
Alignment: Lawful Good
Age: Ancient, but appears to be in her twenties
Sexuality: Straight
Halls: A small hall on Lyfjaberg(healing hill)
Magical Items: Mortar and Pestle, Herb Sack, Svanhvít(swan feather cloak of the Valkyries)

Eir was born to Jord and Ve. Jord was an untamed, wild beauty in those days, and so as soon as Eir was old enough she passed the girl off to her father, just as she had done with all her previous children. Ve was not ready to be a father, especially a single father, however. And so he brought the babe to Lyfjaberg a great hill upon which the Jotunn Menglöð lived. Menglöð, who was known for her healing arts, took the babe in, and she and her handmaidens raised baby to be another handmaiden of Menglöð.
Eir had a knack for natural healing. She picked up very quickly how to grow and tend healing plants, and how to use them to staunch bleeding or break fevers. She then went on to learn how to stitch and cauterize wounds, and how to remove arrows, among a great many other things. Of Menglöð’s nine handmaidens, Eir was one of the best. And it seemed the Aesir preferred going to her than any of the others, considering her one of their own since she was the daughter of Ve.
Then one day both Freyja and Odin approached her and asked her to join their host of Valkyries, they needed someone with healing skill to help heal the wounds of the dead who would join Freyja and Odin in their halls in the afterlife. She could hardly refuse the King and Queen of Asgard, nor could Menglöð. And so she was given a Svanhvít (swan feather cloak) and accepted amongst the ranks of the Valkyries.
Freyja taught Eir how to fight, which was a skill foreign to Eir. Eir was better with the shield then the sword or spear, but knew enough to protect herself and her sister-valkyries if needed. Her main focus and role was to heal. And so she joined in many battles, healing those whom her sisters plucked up from the battlefield for Odin and Freyja.
When Freyja and Odin divorced, and Odin remarried, Eir then had four masters. For she still served Freyja and Odin, but also served as a handmaiden to Menglöð still and now also as a handmaiden to Frigg. She didn’t mind, she enjoyed living her life in service to others. She enjoyed tending the sick and healing the injured that came to her.
And she was good at it. She had a way about her that was firm yet soothing, and could put anyone at ease. Blind Hodr could not see what she was doing, but she would soothingly talk to him and explain what she would do before she did it so he knew. Silent Vidar came to her often and though he could not speak she still spoke with him as though he could, and she figured that made him feel better.
Indeed, Vidar did feel better in her presence. For it seemed she was one of the few who actually saw him for who he was, and one of the few that actually paid attention to him and listened to his way of communication.
One day after stitching up one of Vidar’s wounds, as she placed the bandage around it to protect it, he took hold of her hand. Her heart lept into her throat and she looked into his eyes. She could see something deeper in them, something unsaid that wanted more than anything to come out. For a moment, it seemed as if he were going to break his oath of silence… but he kept it, and instead pressed his lips against hers.
Eir returned the kiss, and one thing led to another. Now that she is with child she no longer goes with the Valkyries into battle. But you cannot take the healer out of her. Eir has her home on Lyfjaberg where she continues to heal. Vidar visits her frequently, only this time without injury.
