Gersemi was born minutes after her twin sister, Hnoss, to Odin and Freyja(the King and Queen) in Asgard. She and Hnoss were Odin’s only daughters(as well as only legitimate children), and so he doted upon them as his little princesses. Though Freyja had a daughter before her marriage to Odin, she too doted upon the little girls. Hnoss and Gersemi were given everything they could ever need or want in life.

Of course, none of that changed even when her mother and father split up. It was said it was due to Freyja’s infidelity… but Odin was just as adulterous as her mother. Freyja never spoke ill of their father, but only told the girls it was because they were too independent for one another, and that Frigg(his new wife) was a much better match for him than she was. Despite the fact that Odin could have easily had his suspicions as to whether Hnoss and Gersemi were actually his… he knew they were and still claimed and doted upon them.

From her father, Gersemi inherited a deep and endless well of wisdom. And from her mother she acquired beauty and a romantic, easily lovable nature. Indeed, Gersemi is well loved by all who get to know her, and she gives the same platonic love back tenfold.

One person whom she has a special fondness for, however, is Hodr, the blind god of Winter and Darkness. Whereas most people seemed to love and appreciate her for her beauty, he loved and appreciated her for her soul. But alas, poor Hodr was not only blind to the world, but blind to Gersemi’s affection for him. After all, who could love a blind man in their world? Nanna certainly didn’t… she chose Baldr over him.

For now Gersemi continues to live her easy and cherished life… completely unaware of the doom that approaches in the form of Ragnarok.
