HISTORY:
Jareth is the ruler of the Labyrinth; the Goblin King. He is worshiped and feared not only by goblins, but by all creatures in the Labyrinth. Jareth is known for being cruel, persuasive, and demanding. He is skilled at disguises and shape-shifting. He often appears in the form of an owl, as he did to Sarah on the night that he captured her baby brother, Toby.
Jareth had been watching Sarah throughout the course of her life. When he took Toby away, he offered her gifts, such as a crystal that shows you your dreams. When she refused to forget about Toby, Jareth became angry and gave her only 13 hours to solve his Labyrinth and rescue Toby from his castle beyond the Goblin City. Every time Sarah was on the right path, Jareth hurled obstacles in her way - he was keen on turning Toby into a goblin. At one point, Jareth gave a poisoned peach to one of Sarah's friends, Hoggle. When it was consumed by Sarah, she had dreams of herself, dancing happily with Jareth, until reality set in. When Sarah awoke, she had forgotten what she was doing and Jareth thought that he had won - he was wrong. To his surprise, Sarah had made it to the castle, rescued Toby, and defeated Jareth.
