The craft appeared to resemble a huge tortoise shell. Black in color with bright green alien etchings upon the bumpy upper most surface.
The smooth not so flat underbelly too was black with four small blue evenly spaced pot-lights along the edge. In the center of the underbelly a large flat round light glowed brightly.
With a soft hum the craft of unearthly origins zipped and spun. Zigged and twirled as it traversed the night sky. The lights and etchings twinkled and blurred with the erratic moments of the craft.
Lowering towards the ground, it brushed the tops of the forest canopy. The central light glowed brightly sending a wide swatch of blue against the forest below. Illuminating the area in some sort of a twisted opal noon.
The sudden brightness stirred creatures out of slumber with startled animal noises only to quiet quickly as the light passed over engulfing them into confusion and darkness.
The light retracted and the craft glided further into the night. Over a large barbed wire fence and into an army base.
The blue central light again illuminated, scanning various vehicles.
The sentries paused as the foreign light within the compound caught their attention. Shouts of alarm, pointing to the strange machine. Searchlights, brighter than the sun swiveled and latched upon the craft, bullets sang out, with a dull ting they bounced off the armored shell.
As fast as it had appeared the crafts lights blinked off and it zipped up towards the sky and out of sight.
Leaving the army base in a scrambling chaos to give chase to something no longer there. Or within the Earths atmosphere.
In a galaxy far away; the spinning craft approached a metallic planet scared by war and ruin. Emitting a high pitched trill of sound in greeting to a winged metal creature standing upon a rise over looking a desolate valley.
"Greetings Wavelength." The winged creature Startalon trilled back in relief. "Welcome back."
Wavelength's smaller lights glowed brighter in response. Zipping over the area, the round craft lowered; occasional the central light would send down a bright beam scanning over a debris pile or wrecked building there.
Startalon watched her subordinate survey and occasionally cast a scan of blue light towards the surface of the still dark planet. Then move off with erratic flight patterns to another part of the landscape. She had yet to understand how Wavelength could not get dizzy zipping in circles all day long.
The discus space craft lowered above a mountain of twisted metal that could at one time have been a building.
Had the round craft been a turtle, where the four fins would be, slid four long tendrils tipped with two sharp pincers lowering to the planets metallic surface, the pinches started to grabbed at debris and flung it hitcher tither digging away deeper and deeper until only the faint glow emitted from the deep hole and pile of scrap metal surrounding it. Eventually even that glow faded to darkness.
Impatience started to wear at the seekers wings until the green glow rose up and then out of the hole. Wavelength flickering lights swirled as it headed back to the small group. Wavelength had found what they were looking for.
FINALLY!
