SNOWBALL FIGHT!
Earlier today, the shopping district of Subeta was rocked by turmoil as a debate raged on between two shop owners: Tobias of the Toy Box, and Dolly of the Candy Shack. I was able to determine the source of the turmoil in my exclusive interview with Dolly this afternoon:
“Tobias thinks he’s SO cool running the toy shop, like it’s somehow BETTER than my candy shop. I mean come on, no stupid toy is ever going to be as awesome as getting a whole box of CANDY for Luminaire!â€
At this point, Tobias interjected:
“Dolly, you are the stupid one. Like candy would ever be better than toys! Candy is gone in like, 2 minutes but toys can be played with all Luminaire! “
“Pfft, your cheap toys always end up broken in 2 minutes, and then you’ve got a broken toy AND no deliciously full belly. Sorry not sorry, but candy is obviously the winner.â€
“There’s only one way we can settle this. You want to snowball fight for it?â€
“HECK YEAH I DO!â€
I bravely tried to petition for a cease snowball, but it seems that these fierce titans of industry cannot be reasoned with, though I did get them to agree to a set of rules in order to keep the frostbite at bay! As well as battling for honor, the two shopkeepers are willing to give a few prizes to those that help them out.
For participating:
• Team-themed achievement and title

• 3 retired Melody’s Cottage items

• Trow Trophy for your profile!

In addition to the participant prizes, the winning team will receive: 

• 2 retired Melody’s cottage items

• A special winter themed wearable
And that's not all! You can also win a team-themed item from your own team’s captain if you manage to throw a certain amount of snowballs over the course of the battle. The top 10% of snowball throwers from either team will also receive a special achievement and title!

There is also now a Luminaire forum for you to find potential targets! All Luminaire threads have been moved there, make sure to only hit members of the opposing team! Also, you can only be hit by snowballs if you choose to participate in the fight!
Who will rise victorious and who will get the cold shoulder? Only time will tell!

How long is the event, if anyone knows?
I was worried about snowballs being too hard to come by but I love that you can buy them in bulk right from the shop! Ace! Let's do this!
wah! team Dolly has thrown almost a mil snowballs and we're STILL LOOSING?! Ugh. We must have terrible aim. :P
Thanks very much for the clear guidelines on what the prizes are and the requirements to earn them - that's a very welcome change to the usual flailing around the dark not sure whether I've earned little or loads.
How are the points figured out? Dolly has more members and way more snowballs thrown but less points?
Has anyone found out how long this snowball fight will last? I have friends I want to snowball but can't.
In spite of the Unavailable servers, I'm really enjoying the big snowball fight. :D

It's been only 12 hours since I woke up to this event and it's already driving me absolutely crazy seeing my name everywhere.

On a slower internet connection, I managed about 160ish in an hour. I refuse to be deadweight, but I can't be as fast as some. More snow to throw! :)
Why does the number of snowballs to get a prize keep going up? Is that the 10% prize?
This is fun! Luckily I have fast internet so I have been actually ending up throwing them too fast :/ but sometimes the site has gone down, whatevs there are hundreds of people pelting virtual snowballs at each other every second so I would assume there would be some issues. Hopefully this little fight won't last too long because of that. Still fun though! Go team Dolly!
25 snowballs purchased at a time and a 5 second wait between throws? Bummer. I was getting pretty good at snowball-spamming.
You could really add (way) more tiers to the snowball achievements, this fight is a good motivation and there should be a reward for the participants who throw lots of snowballs. :)
If we implement punishments for "deadweight" members, it will also unfairly affect those who have slow internet. I'm trying my best to throw snowballs but with every refresh it seems the site crashes. It makes my computer go slow so I just leave the window and everytime I come back, it's still lagging.
If you buy a bunch of the same snowball, you can just refresh the page after you click the button to throw at a random opponent. You don't have to go back and forth that way.
I hope the prizes aren't too nice because I'm not feeling up to site events lately

For people with slower connections/computers, 100 snowballs would be closer to an hour. That's why I suggested earlier to take out the "throw a snowball at a random person" page and just make it throw at a random person when you click the snowball. That would help with the lag a lot.

For anyone concerned about time, I timed myself, and it took me less than 10 minutes to throw over 100 snowballs at random members of the opposing team, which got me up over my team's average. Not much of a grind. ;)
There will always be spoil sports, debbie downers, and smug folks so just keep throwing your snowballs and encouraging others to do so. It's still a pretty even race so there's still hope!

I don't think it matters that much if people join, but do not throw snowballs - while the team might have to make up for them, in the end the opposing team will also have members like that.
And even if they just joined for the heck of it - the more people joined, the more people you can hit with your snowballs! :D

Well I'm not going to take back what I said about dead weight :) When it comes to a team effort like this, people who join and sit on their ass the entire time actually ARE dead weight. The buying and throwing process is very easy, there's no excuse why you can't throw even one snowball.
Kinda sucks that people are joining teams just to do nothing at all. Especially when you can easily throw snowballs at random people and buy stacks of 50 snowballs for 12,5k sP each stack so it isn't even expensive. They will even count towards the achievments. .__.
Besides, I was indicating that I haven't got the time to not become a 'dead weight' like someone said...

It would probably speed things up just a bit if when we clicked a snowball it automatically hit a random member of the other team, instead of having to load another page.

I'm sure there are people who like the individual one but I think for the event it would be better not to have to load more pages than absolutely necessary.

If it's such a big deal, I can voluntarily leave the team. You see, I have a life and not much time to be throwing pixel snowballs around.
I personally think that people from either team who don't throw a snowball within a certain timeframe should be expelled from the team. It means they get the prizes for doing nothing which isn't really fair?
