GELATIN WAR!!!
Do you feel the ground shaking? Do you hear that wet squishing sound? THE GELATINS ARE COMING!
...Or the GELATIN, I should say. Normally when these things invade, the first thing I hear is the disgusting noise of thousands of mini gelatins sliding across the land, but something's different this time. I can hear the minis, of course, but they're faint, farther off in the distance. This thing out in front... it's heavy. Massive. I think it's Hydragellos... and I think it's been working out. Doing some core strength exercises, if you will! I know, I'm hilarious.

I don't want to discourage anybody here, but I have a feeling that we're not going to be able to take this thing down completely this time. With any luck, though, we can make its stay in Subeta so miserable that it won't stick around for longer than a week. Tell you what: as motivation, I'll personally retrieve a Hydragellos Maniacal Core from the beast for each and every battler who manages to do 5 million damage to it by the end of August 30. Don't worry if you can't hit that total; I'll still scrounge up some other rewards for you based on total damage dealt, and you can of course hack away at any smaller gelatins to see what kind of loot you can knock out of their jiggly insides!
WE CAN DO THIS, battlers! Now come on, let's show that gelatinous beast who's boss!

I'm excited for this, but it would be great if at least for this guy we can get a running count of how much damage we've actually done. ;u; Not just a death counter haha...
throws her T6 pet at him Looks like I'l honestly need to do about 7000-10000 battles oh no..

welp my t11 manages to do about 700 damage per battle
maybe it's time i buy myself some decent weapons i guess lmao

I hate to suggest this, but it would be really nice to have a damage counter...
If it creates too much load on the site, maybe one that updates once per hour?

I have been saving to buy the Hydragellos Core for my battle set. I saved 500 million SP and nobody was willing to sell it for that. Now I need to spend what, 6 million on heals to get it? It's super cheap :O
Consider yourself lucky that it only costs you 1200sP per turn. My cost per heal 15k sP which means I'd be spending around upwards of 6 mil (probably closer to 10-15mil) to get to 5 million damage. I haven't calculated my exact damage per battle but I figure I'm in he 5-10k range.
I get the idea that this is supposed to ne an sP sink designed to offset the Questathon, it's just a tad bit unfair to the battlers who have already spent millions to train a high stat pet. Spending 15k per heal can be bit of a strain when you're having to heal 500 times or so.

Yeah. Not really? I've started Monday.The gelatins wanted to invade before school starts back up... they're considerate like that!
Not even trying anyway.

This is a bit poorly timed with the quest-a-thon but at least there's a week to do this and not 2 days straight of sleepless nights

Whew! My T7 gets in a wildly varying amount of damage averaging out to about 1800, so I'll need 2778 wins minimum. Gonna go for 3000. I'm already 10% there :0

Just to clarify, there is absolutely no reason to go over 5 mil damage on a single pet. I don't want to get to the end and hear there are also prizes for people that did top damage beyond 5 mil.

@Solsticesprite
Wuf is actually a fairly even build. It's still good information :) I figure that my estimate is on the low side but I'd rather be underestimating than overestimating

@kbbob I don't build my pets the way that's the consensus in Battle, so I'm not so sure how useful my data is to you. Magie only has 168 AP for instance (not that more wouldn't be helpful, it's just too much of a pain to sneakily buy all those Shinwas Flowre of Mornings without driving the price wild). Magie is currently ranked 76, and she is even-statted around 6850 weighted ever so slightly for speed and defense for those weapons that fiddle around with what they do based on "which one is strongest".
I have chocked Earth damage baguettes in all eight of my mod slots since my two weapons already do these icons, this seems to get me a better overall damage punching through the (random) Maniacal Absorbtion than chocking in Critical tears, which got me around 20K per battle. I did twenty battles each (after I realized that my blessings were worth spit since they are disabled).

calculated I'll have to do around 2000 battles with my t11 pet to give 5mil damage...
I'm going to skip this one haha

thanks. I like to hear other estimates so can judge if my own estimate is realistic or not. so around 200 battles for you, that's not bad at all

I have a tier 13 pet and just calculated it out on my averages and it will take me four hours, so I'm not sure what Mike is getting at. I've fought for four hours before in competitive boss battles, and have not gotten the top prize, nor even close.
You could also spend hours battling and not get the top prize. This just takes the chance out of it. I'm not saying it's perfect, but at least no one is wasting their time aiming to try and make top 20 and miss out by one or two battles.

I am going to hate every goddamn minute of this. hahaha.
(and I was concerned about posting a too-large version edit... :p )

For calculating how much you got: I got an excel open split screen and split screen my battle screen and every move I just add it to the column and it shows on top of the row how much I currently got.
So I know I got 104.563k in 6 battles :)

Also good grief calculate your damage average by watching what you do for the first like 3-5 battles or something like people have done in the past to work out scores it is the opposite of hard.
God people are so damn whiny
The prizes were different and you 'bothered' because you CHOSE to and wanted to win a prize. There are way more users around now that are high tier battlers and this is a much more sensible way of doing rather than forcing the top 20 people to not sleep for three days.

/wonders how the hell I'm going to calculate this
/decides not to bother and just to SMASH IT UP

Is there really no way of knowing what the total damage is you've done? It seems really strange that we have to calculate this ourselves...

@kbbob
Even making it to 10 is straining my ability to concentrate. My pets aren't very strong anyway (not really an avid battler) so for them to fight - it's less like attacking with weapons and more like licking an ice cream cone the size of mt. everest. And the ice cream squashing them every half dozen licks or so. XD
Also, to whoever put this in -
"You lost to Hydragellos. Visit the Healer before battling again!"
Healer link! Thank you!

thanks. I tend to get distracted easily if i don't have a specific goal to work for, though.

@Bleak_Light
I'm pretty sure this time all prize tiers will be done by total damage, with 5m being the highest tier.
I'm not sure what the other tiers will be. Keeping track will take you a lot of extra time, just do as many battles as you can.

Could someone please explain the prize tiers to me? or are they different every time? Is it by number of battles or amount of damage done? Should I bother keeping track of either? It seems like I'm always only 3 or 4 battles from the next tier and kicking myself.

Anyone confident they've hit the 5million yet? Should just ease on into another 40ish battles on my end and I'll be done.
we have 8 days compared to what? a couple/few days it took to beat him in the past. I think they actually made it easier for more ppl to get a core.

While i'm excited for this to be different this time around. It feels like too much with the quest-a-ton which is already a way too high goal.
Mind you: i'm probably only excited for this because I haven't done the math yet how many battles I'm supposed to do.

This completely destroys the only competitive aspect of battling at the moment. I'm not even sure if I can muster up the motivation to get the top prize :(. I was reallllly looking forward to a boss battle, I love boss battles. This just makes me sad :(. I understand that it's tough for people to devote 4 straight hours to battling for a top prize but, then like rewarding the people who do isn't a bad thing. Nobody loses anything when they don't manage to get in the top X. But the people that do devote the time get to compete with each other and bond over it as well. I dunno this seems like the worst possible way to do a boss other than just making it a regular 10 win and done challenger :(.

And to whine further, a chance to get a conconction too would have been nice. Perhaps next year, then. This is a nice treat anyway!

@InnAmoramento @Allegria
You can use hoarded or cheap healing potions and fully heal fighting a small challenger.
Would be more effective, if the little ones would already be around serving as bait.

So I reached 10K damage and felt pretty proud of myself. So then I did some math and didn't stop at the amount of battles I need to fight, but actually figured out the time I'd have to spend if I spread it out the whole week. Yeah.... we're talking quite a lot of hours each day and man... my Netflix playlist is not going to watch itself so I'm going to have to have a pass. Kudos and a half to you guys who do it though... you are my heroes.
