can there be a head one too?

@Kaiidth Ah, when I've tried to commission those, people have told me they won't do it but not said that it was a rule.

I want animal-evolved but not fur-covered semi-digitigrade legs and feet with claws and no tail; I also want a thylacine butt but they had long, slender tails. They were marsupials and had thin, muscular tails with short fur. There is nothing in the thylacine evolutionary pathway that would give you a giant plush tail you could stick flowers in. I've never understood what the issue was, because sure it won't cover the HA base, but that doesn't mean you can't put something under it that will!

If they'll let us do it now because these background-killing abominations exist, so be it--there are better ways to fix that problem, though.

Kaiidth

@Valiska
It's in the cw laws for body mods the appendage had to be covered. I am asking staff if with these we dont need that now. For example my lynx booties just be the booty with out the flowers.
1

Valiska

@Kaiidth was there a reason we couldn't before, other than artists not wanting to do them? Because frankly, most people that use booties do use backgrounds, and there was never ever anything stopping us from layering them on top of items like skirts, then putting shorter skirts, long coats, etc, on top of them.
0

Kaiidth

@staff does this mean we can have animal booties that dont need to fully cover the legs?
2

Owl

CAN YOU IMAGINE ALL THE ANIMAL BOTTOMS WE CAN HAVE NOW. 8D

Izabel from Saga? lol I dunnoI tried. :D
9

spiralgalaxis

hehehhhh I can think of a few ways to use this in morostide or survival :D
0

Georgie

But can we please have gloves for the right hand? That is the one most vexing for me.
2

monie

useful as fuuuuuu-

when ur light up sneakers are too bright
54

egg

imagine all the cute shoes now that we can just get rid of the frickin feet
17

Hosui

Wardrobe usage aside, I actually think the item image/name they went with is clever and super creative. I'm gonna have to get for my crafty themed pet's treasure chest. For all those times they've tried to draw a figure and went, wait no that's not right, and had to erase.
6

Darkrai

There's not a way to make parts of the HA base actually transparent unless they split the base up into pieces that can be hidden behind backdrops or release pieces like the sheer gloves that could replace individual HA parts

With regards to the thumb, unless a piece of clothing (mainly skirts or repositioned/animal limbs) already covers the HA's left hand, the thumb is always going to show because clothes have been drawn around the hand with the way the HA base works (and even with a different workaround that doesn't create the white space, there will at least be a hole in the clothing where it was drawn around the thumb). There are limitations with the way HAs work that there may not necessarily be an elegant fix for at this point
11

Valiska

@Moran I'm hosed because I always, always, always use backgrounds except when it's Masquerade and the coding that suppresses them on the dance floor is not working.

But there are items that cover the hand (which is why we have those "sheer gloves") and any of those would cover the thumb notch.
1

Valiska

@Christopher now this is an appropriate use of yikes.
4

bixbite

YESSSSSSSSSS
0

SYLVAN

Now folks can have that fresh out of the Apple Store look.
6

Lypsyl

Looking forward to finding creative ways to use these :D
1

Moran

I wanted to make a HA with the missing arm but sadly the thumb shows over the clothes and that looks really weird. :c
4

thercery

These need some work, definitely, but I'm so thrilled by the prospect of what it indicates about what you're prioritizing with HA's. I so.appreciate that you're indulging users that love to get experimental with layering and backdrops!
8

feral

I'm really hoping this is just a temporary fix for a problem that staff has hinted will have a fix in the next wardrobe for.
If this is the 'solution' we've been told to wait for... This is just incredibly limiting and disappointing. These can definitely be used while we wait, but I hope a real solution IS in the works.
6

Lullaby

@Stellar

It whites out everything outside of the line art of the avatar base.
1

cherub_730

i get the use for these, and as much as i'm always wanting to get rid of limbs-
i feel that maybe instead of hiding limbs this way, as they won't work on anything with a bg, could the base not simply be snipped into seamless, separate parts that are able to be toggled off and on in the wardrobe? like hiding layers in a drawing program. it wouldn't require a base redraw at all, and from a technical angle it seems like it wouldn't be that hard to implement (although admittedly being that i'm not a coder, i don't actually know if that's true)
19

jensen

@Luck you can be an torso

this will be nice for people who do crazy layer shenanigans but don't use backgrounds? i guess?

@Porygon
if they redid the thumb, they'd have to do one for every base ;o simpler to leave it, since the thumb is generally covered with clothes.
9

Stellar

I'm not very smart, @Decadent, what does that Whiteout do exactly?
0

Serena922003

INTERESTING!
0

Tarnished

so does this mean we can finally have body mods that aren't required to cover the base
4

Porygon

Kudos to people who have figured out uses for this, I sure haven't. My biggest complaint is that it looks sort of messy. Especially the thumb left over. Like, couldn't it have just been completely erased and the base redrawn in that tiny spot? Though I suppose it could be noticeable if they did that in itself.

Anyway, it's great for people who are gonna figure out how to use it, just not something for me.
6

Maniac

@Luck
i'm guessing it's supposed to be combined with the
Whiteout
otherwise it makes little sense

i wish they'd just make items that look exactly like the base but missing feet / arms / etc, you could layer it over cutout-free BGs then
5

Johnny_673

Also a bit sad there is no head one...
4

Luck

Maybe it's because I just woke up but I'm utterly confused on how you're meant to use these. Can anyone do an example? All I see are giant white blobs that are very out of place now that subeta stopped doing cutout backgrounds.
10

Johnny_673

I have no words to express my happiness
1

Blackbird

Certainly knocks out the use of backgrounds, but it's a start!
6

Saturnine

Kinda wanted one for the torso, but these are still interesting.
2

ChatLunatique

Finally! Something in the millionaire center I have no use for.
5

Crab

absolutely overjoyed by these, especially the feet ones! looking forward to having some time in the wardrobe to play around with them c:
0

Bliss

I don't think I can use these. I'm interested in seeing what the more creative people will do c:
0

Eivor

None for the head? Bummer. I have no idea how I'd use these but with Morostide coming up, I'm sure someone will figure out a really clever way to use them.
5

Stiles

Now I need to figure out a creepy floating avatar for Morostide
0

Visforviolet

Yes! High value nothingness! These will be really handy.
0

Judin

This is amazing! Thank you, staff! :D
1

Dice

Kinda disappointed there isn't one for the head. I'm sure I'll come up with a use for these some day.
8

MarchOnOff

Finally you took an arm and a leg :D LMAO!
12

Chrysariel

Very useful!
1

Empathy

? Thank you, Subeta, now all I’m gonna think about at work today is how I’m gonna use these. Seeet idea.
0

Ryuu

Shoes feel a bit too tight?
Jacket just not fitting right?
I've got the solution to your plight!
Let's start by cutting off your limbs tonight! :D
...
The things people do in the name of fashion on this site. hahaha.

& thanks for making them millionaire center items so that everyone has a fair shot at editing the base~ ♥️
25

Tex707

*Panics over what I could use these for* I know the possibilities are endless, but what!? My imagination is imploding.
1

Latreia

Can we also have a version that white-outs the awkward fabric between the legs, please? These look useful and I need to think how to use them all lol.
13

Valiska

@Linnet That may be so, but I'm not sure that, for instance, if I wanted to use cat legs that weren't accompanied by an incredibly unrealistic tail almost as wide as my head, that having white blobs over the background behind those legs would be any better than having the HA base legs show.

(I really want cat legs without a giant tail. But people don't want to make them even if you explain that you understand perfectly that they won't cover the HA base legs, which is why you're going to layer a long skirt, coat, cape or bustle without cutouts behind the cat legs.)
3

Nerds

I'd like to see one for around the head. I'm tired of having cool hair that sticks out from under a hat
29

Maniac

i'm kinda losing my mind from the idea of cutting off my arm or foot to replace it with some fancy expensive cw, like that sounds more outrageously rich than anything saggi ever pulled lmao

but i'm never gonna use that because i don't like white bgs. idk why they can't just give you an ability to replace your actual base / remove it entirely atp
13

Memorv

@Linnet I totally understand that. I'd rather wait until they finished what they've already started as there are so many unfinished projects already. But I think the HA system is in need of a good revamp.
4

Christopher

Yikes.
9

Linnet

I think the things y'all are requesting would require a rework of how the entire avatar system works from the ground up.
25

Jinx

Like the idea of just cutting off the avatar's toes for whatever reason. It's been kind of hard to make amputee avs in the past so I genuinely appreciate these but forever laughing about cutting off the toes.
7

Valiska

This is not a good solution for the problem that it seems to have been intended to fix. :(
5

Memorv

I am somewhat excited about these items but also a bit disappointed. I use Custom CSS with a dark BG so it wouldn't look right for me and those who use it as well. Also disappointing that it would still not look right on HAs with backgrounds. I agree with Sigilmancy on this one. And while i am excited for these items it would be sooo much better to be able to have the option to make them totally transparent. It would be nice to be able to remove the base in wardrobe altogether as well without having to use Vanishing Cream. Maybe in the future.
13

Darkrai

Thank you! I can't remember what I needed something like this for, but I'm sure they'll come in handy next time it comes up :')
1

Pinocchio

Hmm... I'd love to use these, but I'm not sure of a clever way to utilize them.
5

Sigilmancy

@Werewolf

I know, it's just....eh. Like the original whiteout item is solid white, so if I want to have a background on my avatar I can't use it. Same thing goes for these because they are solid white blobs, I already did some testing in the wardrobe with my current HA. Sucks because I like the idea of being able to 'erase' certain parts of your avatar but it just doesn't work well in the case of existing items.
6

demon

@Sigilmancy sadly i dont think that's possible ): i'd love it we could erase avatar parts too, but with how body mods use excess fabric to hide the avatar i think it might be a technical limitation. with you on it though, it'd be rad for it to truly erase the avatar, since i rarely use backgrounds
10

Werewolf

@Sigilmancy I don't believe that's possible with how HAs work, they don't modify the actual avatar base. The Whiteout and Vanishing Cream both are actually solid white, too.
11

Werewolf

Thanks! Can we get a head one too tho'?
19

Sigilmancy

I appreciate these and trying to stay close to the original whiteout item but honestly they would be 100% better if they were see through or generally erased that part of the avatar instead of replacing it with a white blob. Makes it a bit useless if you want a background with your avatar, like the original whiteout item ):
16

Julie

This will be a neat item. I'm going to have to get them all.
1

demon

oh nice
0

julietstarling

Ooooo! Very handy for that tricky layering. Thanks, team!
3

pax

I'm a little bothered about the
Full Left Arm Whiteout Pen
still showing part of the avatar's thumb, but I suppose that part of the HA is very hard to "whiteout" without unfortunate side-effects when it comes to layering.
22

Lychee_277

Amazing!! I have wanted something like this for a long time!
0

Ligress

o_0 Im not sure how these will be useful, but now I need to figure out why I need them (bc i need everything) LOL
7

Reishi

wow so white wash.
1

Rabbit

Ooooooooooooh this is going to be so useful for those tricky angles.

We can all feel not so good now, Mr.Krabs, one limb at time.
