Quest-A-Thon: COMING SOON to a quest near you
Starting at 12:00am on Monday August 24 you will have until 11:59pm on Friday September 4 to complete 1,000,000 quests as a team!
Like always, the completing quests from the following quest givers will count towards the goal: Blue Building, Carl, Cinthia, Mori and Nori, Alexander, Maleria, Pete, Quentin, Saggitarius, Sarah, and The Wizard.
Don’t forget that regular users can complete 10 quests per quest giver and gold account users can complete 15 quests per quest giver a day. The only quest this does not apply to is Blue Building quests, which are 5 a day for everyone.

This sounds really fun... though I think I've already lost a lot of "rank"! While I can do all quests except Sarah, I've missed the first three days (due to inability to get online and lag). I guess all I can do is just keep doing them and see how far I can get!

Oh jesus. I love Quest-a-thons and I've been looking forward to this since I saw it mentioned somehwere on the forums, but theres an event on FR and Dappervolk right now too, and I've got a ton of work on top of that. Why do these things always have to all happen at the same time OTL

@Keith What if some kind of disaster happens while we transfer our funds to do our Sarah quests and said funds disappear into the ether - will you help us get our funds back? Alternatively, wouldn't it be easier to make Sarah available to all during this quest period, so nobody gets hurt?

You can use any tools on the site available at your disposal :P That does not mean that we won't fix things like that down the road, but you won't be in trouble :)

Can someone on staff please clarify whether or not we can use forum groups to store sP for Sarah quests again, before the quest-a-thon actuall starts since there's been radio silence for more than 24 hours for some reason

I don't understand why opting out something you could only benefit from. I also don't care about the prizes, I don't use the forums and I have more pet slots than pets; but I do those quests anyway and I like to see the site active!

For those who are concerned about the quest givers that don't give out good enough rewards, without ever skipping a quest during these, I've never come out of a quest-a-thon without a lot of profit and that's not even including it being one of the few times a year I stock my shop and autoprice instead of fragmentizing. Something's gone very wrong if you lose sP doing this.

Maybe I missed it before, but this is the first time I've seen people asking to be able to opt out of having their quests contribute to the total. As others have pointed out, you literally don't have to use anything you win. Are we going to see people asking for this in the next slime war too?

I have to be honest and say that moving all of my SPs into a forum account just to play Sarah's quests makes me a little nervous. It would be my luck that something would glitch and I'd be out all of my SPs. I hope there's a different option available.

@dude The NPC Drunk Carl is in the Omen Islands. To access this part of the map you need to complete the Uncharted Land Map Piece 1-9 by turning them in at the game Treasure Maps in the game room. These pieces have gotten pricey if you buy them from other users, to about 2.7MsP total. You can get them free from Random Events. but this is a drawn out slow process and you won't get them all by the time the Quest A Thon is over.

None of the Staff SPECIFICALLY STATED that that specific workaround is okay, and people have had their accounts frozen for doing that exact thing (and please note that Staff has NOT gone through and un-frozen these accounts since now what was considered "cheating" is now okay).
Also since I find it a particular kind of BS to ensure that blue users can't win without buying a Gold Account, I'll be doing a giveaway on the forums for some 1 week accounts. This should be a fun event for people WITH AN EQUAL CHANCE FOR ALL, not one where they're left out because they can't recruit safe friends to trust their SP with, or because they don't have the IRL funds to buy Gold with.
We already had to have the "equality" conversation last Morostide with Staff because a good number of users were unable to "fully complete" the quest due to the disability-inaccessible puzzle full of flashing lights and we got a very poor response in return. If "you can't win this part of the Subeta game if you're not a perfectly abled adult with a paying job and spare funds to spend on Gold accounts" is going to become a theme around here...

I have a question, since there's now going to be a ranking for who does how many quests, will this be public? As in, can we see how we are doing as compared to others? Cause I think that would be neat and it's going to be tracked anyway, so.... pretty please? ^^

I don't think there is a limit, I've not encountered one. However, I don't know how the system will react to transferring lots of sP at a time; does it work like items? Because if it does, you might.... Lose sP during a transfer. I don't know if this is the case....

Looking forward to this! I used to do all the quests daily. But the last 1-2 years my time spent here has been much less, and I've barely done any quests at all. I'll definitely try to do all of them again!
I just hope that there will be an official announcement regarding Sarah (if the Forum Group workaround is allowed or not).

we've got daily reminders with a super handy list of heeaps of threads you can post on, some in the public forums, but heaps also in the group forums if you're uncomfortable posting in the public forums (the group forums still count towards your overall total of forum posts, they just won't give you a chance at earning forum points/raffle tickets). in total, we've got over 100 threads listed and linked, so there may be quite a few there to boost your way into getting access to Blue Building before the Quest-a-Thon even starts ;)

Sarah is 15 quests a day for Gold account users (105 quests for a week) and 10 a day for non Gold account users (70 quests a week).

thank Grog i've got next week off work, this is great timing! personally i love Maleria's (and Cinthia's) quests for the very reason that they only give out sP. less junk i have to sort/frag/price lol! plus, Maleria usually asks for the same kinds of things, so i usually have some stuff stashed in my vault that she asks for, which cuts down my outlay. i never quit a quest (unless an item is in the millions) because i always need questpoints and at the end of the day i still make a profit. so all in all, this is a win for me! (although i've only got 6 pets so far so that's kind of a pointless prize for me personally, but i'm happy to work towards the goal for others :) ) we can do this team!
the avvie borders look like a cool addition, i'm excited to see what styles we get in the future~ (wishing for a cool gothic scrollwork one *crosses fingers* )

A Quest-aThon without a pet slot as a reward wouldn't be interesting to me. So I'm seeing a lot of posts asking for Sarah's restrictions to be removed and while that's very convenient, considering she pays really well, I don't think that's either doable or fair. What is doable is raising her limit. Sarah seems to think that 2 mill SP is "a lot" of money and it really isn't. Despite the prices going down, it still takes me a week and a half to earn 100csc via questing. I think 5 Million is a more reasonable limit. Sure, some people will still be put out but there are workarounds. Personally, I just don't do Sarah. If you scroll down and hit the spoiler, I did the math and our odds are still pretty good even without her inclusion. That doesn't mean I want her excluded from the competition, however, for there are people who can do her quests but not Blue Building's or Carl's and they need that option.

@Isilven however, you can make your own personal closed forum group where no one else will be able to enter and then you have absolutely no fear of someone stealing your SP while you are doing your Sarah quests.

Way to get me back and active on subeta as I've been offline way more often than not lately...just bored and waiting for CW lower prices to submit....and now I'm feeling obligated to come on daily through this to do quests. Though, this is the first time I'm super relieved to have a non GA account which means I only have to do 10 quests per quester instead of 15 LOL XD

Excited for this! However, I do agree with the people asking specifically for Sarah's restrictions to be lifted. Saggi is just a matter of collecting SP, Sarah could potentially mean the loss of all your SP if you have someone else hold it, even in a forum group. I personally have over 200 million SP in my vault and I am in no way keen to just hand that over to someone else. I worked really hard for that SP over the past 12-ish years that I've been on the site.
IDK. Just feels like not taking Sarah's restriction off is asking for trouble. I don't think Staff would want to be inundated with tickets titled "SOANDSO stole all my SP while I was doing Sarah quests!"

Normally I'm really excited to do Quest-a-thon events, and I'm always up for a new pet slot :D

...there does still seem to be a problem with shops restocking too little and I hope it's adjusted before the event actually starts, otherwise there's going to be a lot of price gouging on common items and that's going to kill a lot of the fun for me. I'll still participate and do what I can, of course. But I'm just saying, please don't just ignore this problem.

I mean, thinking about it, it makes sense, but I've had so much happen in the last 24 months specifically that I hadn't noticed. (As opposed to counting a year as January to December, it's specifically the past two years to this very month that I've had a crazy large amount of big things happen in my life.)

@Sopheroo what I was saying is there should be an option to opt out completely to an event, and yes, that would absolutely mean no benefits of prizes for whomever chooses to do so. Every event should have that option imo and it would cut out the notifications or alerts or anything involved, so then whomever chooses the opt out could be left to their own to resume the site as normal. Again, though, I have no idea how involved it is, but would be a nice option for those that don't enjoy these kinds of events or maybe pressure that might come from them. Kind of like a join the team button or something. Either way, everyone should be able to feel comfortable in their site experience during events. I'll personally be doing what I can, but the next person may not feel comfortable taking part at all and that would be nice to be optional

Individual events should have an opt out, yeah. Quest-a-thon isn't individual, it's collective, so having the option to opt-out isn't really something I'd want, if only because people would opt out just because the prizes aren't *exactly* what they'd want.
It's not even about interest - last time, people would probably have opted out just because the fashion hoodie was account bound, even though they do use and like the wardrobe.
In a collective effort, you want as many people as possible to participate, so why opt out? There is no negative to the actual event.
Also, from a coding aspect, yeah, it might be complex. Not at first, but later on.
Considering that we're most likely gonna get boons for quests later in the quest-a-thon, it actually is a little bit annoying to code two separate quest pools for each quester, depending on who opts in and who opts out. That isn't 100% glitch free.
Because if you gotta opt out, you fully opt you. You shouldn't reap the advantages given to people who do participate.
Individual events should have an opt out, yeah. Quest-a-thon isn't individual, it's collective, so having the option to opt-out isn't really something I'd want, if only because people would opt out just because the prizes aren't *exactly* what they'd want.
It's not even about interest - last time, people would probably have opted out just because the fashion hoodie was account bound, even though they do use and like the wardrobe.
In a collective effort, you want as many people as possible to participate, so why opt out? There is no negative to the actual event.
Also, from a coding aspect, yeah, it might be complex. Not at first, but later on.
Considering that we're most likely gonna get boons for quests later in the quest-a-thon, it actually is a little bit annoying to code two separate quest pools for each quester, depending on who opts in and who opts out. That isn't 100% glitch free.

@Sopheroo Some people don't want to participate in events and that should be fine and acceptable, too. I personally don't see why there couldn't be an opt out option, but I'm not a coder so I don't know how involved that would be. But any event should have an opt out option, even if others don't understand why.

I would guess that somehow Sarah would be put on a temporary change to match all the other Quests, because otherwise there isn't a point to include her. This is also not speaking kindly to my lazy side in not wanting to be active and knowing I have a gold account in my inventory

Yay! Pet slot! And can't wait to see the borders. But I agree with @Lea! Don't include Sarah or officially remove the restrictions for the duration. So few can even do her quests its really not fair.

Consider: a "Quest-A-Thon Box" (like a Loyalty Box, account-bound until opened) sent out to users who compete, with options inside that users can choose from, like Pet Slot, CSC, CW Voucher, etc.. Plus the title and the avatar border. That way nobody is excluded and everyone feels the desire to participate.

I'm glad to know that it's OK to do a workaround for Sarah's quest, but at the same time it just kind of feels to me like with that one in particular, it would make sense to just temporarily remove the restriction? It's the only quest that people can only not do if they have *too much* sP from being on the site for a while (or being good at earning sP even if new), whereas the other quests w/ requirements are ones you actively work toward getting. It just seems like it'd be easy to justify by having Sarah agree to let anyone do her quests for the duration of the quest-a-thon, in the spirit of everyone working toward a goal together, newbies and older members alike?

I'm pretty sure it's mostly because those aren't part of the same questing system as the other ones. Those two types of quests don't give out quest points and the NPCs don't have special shops associated with them for questing like the others do so it would take some coding changes to be able to include them I think.

Yay, Quest-a-Thon. I love these, because items sales from my shop go up since there's more demand for items AND if there's need for incentive, quests become weekend quests or start giving out retired items. It's awesome. :D
I always do all the quests every day anyway, so that doesn't change for me. All it means is even more sP and items. ^^

@Ashei You could always make a closed forum group and deposit your SP into the bank there long enough to do Sarah's quests. The bank doesn't count that money to be in your possession. Unless this is also frowned upon and I missed a memo about it?

Kind of sad that my suggestion about picking your own prize (from a small pool of options and no not getting rid of the pet slot option) hadn't been considered. I'm all for a pet slot because lots of users do want more pets but having the option to pick a prize for those who want something else... Ah well maybe next time?

With the last two great exoduses and without knowing how many are actually active on here, I'm wary of our chances to beat this thing.

I'm not one of these people who needs ALL THE PETS and I just spent a loyalty box getting a slot about a week ago. :/ Really would've preferred CSC/vouchers over pet slots. The avatar decos are cute but not something I want dependent on winning contests, at least, not all the time.

We’ve discussed it as staff and we’re not penalizing people for working a way to do Sarah’s quests. That was something that wasn’t communicated greatly in the pass to the staff (which was my bad), so it was confusing for users.

And if you own a forum group, you can work around the sP restriction for Sarah by dumping all of your excess sP in there since we're being encouraged to find a workaround to being blocked from her. That will be safer than offering on trades and such.

Some of which people don't have time to access before the Quest-a-Thon starts. (EX: missing 100 posts for blue building? want to risk spamming the forums and getting a warning since they move at a snails pace...?)
And listen, I could care less about myself. I'm going to place. I have all these things... but like, how disheartening to everyone else who wasn't prepared with a chunk of csc or USD in their wallet for that GA + everything else they need access to.

@feral It's not that hard to make the sP requirement for Saggi, so I don't know why that would be one to be thrown off. Blue Building counts, and not everyone has access to that. Not everyone has access to Carl. If we start getting nitpicky, it really lowers the amount of quests y'all are able to do to reach the goal.

Really annoying to see Sarah as part of the over all total for this (specifically in regards to a top 100 prize) when you need to 'cheat' to do her quests by giving your sP to another user, which staff has told us they frown upon us doing... =/
