Subeta Anniversary!
A year ago we were building a different Subeta somewhere else. Project Kumos was a full rewrite, and after a long run at it we stopped. It was eating every hour we had and handing back a site that wasn't better than the one you were already logging into. So we came back to this codebase, the old one, and it's been a much better time ๐.
This site is 22 because people keep showing up for it: reporting the broken thing, arguing about balance, welcoming somebody who just made an account, running contests, and creating stunning pet profiles.
โผ๏ธ This year's anniversary item can't be claimed. Somebody has to give it to you.
Every day this week you get five Celebratory Sprinkle Seeds to hand out at the Gardens.
There are two ways to spend your five. Type in a username, or serve the looking for a seed line: click once and the site picks who it goes to. The person who gets it sees your name. You don't find out who you helped (but maybe they'll post on the forums or leave a comment thanking you).
If you're the one waiting, join the line. Emma sweeps it for anyone who's been there more than four hours, so nobody sits all day. You can take five seeds a day, and one person can only give you one.
The giving runs for a week. After that the seeds stop going out and whatever's planted still grows.

Creating all the OC's I'd never think of and going over their personalities, plots and life events with my friends is something that would never happen without this site - so Thank you, Subeta Team for lovely 21 years, 11 months, 4 weeks and 1 day here. I may not be on as often as I used to (life gets in the way) but I love that there's a corner of the Interent I can return to and it's prettymuch the same as it was (except updated graphics/items and tons new stuff to collect and do :D).

Hope to do the planting thing right, I don't understand exactly how we gift the seeds?
And is it totally random and there is no chance all players participating get the Subeta birthday gifts?

It would be helpful to link to the gifting page in the news post ^^ Also, it could be explained better - the seeds you might find in your inventory have been gifted by someone, and that information can be found on the gifting page.

I've been here for 21 of those years. My best memories are doing the plots. i really enjoyed doing those.
I'm very disappointed, I didn't get a single seed from the waiting list this (short) night! Emma did not keep her promise, either!

oh no, only a week is a very limited time for RNG-based items, I'm going to have to find some people to trade with to make sure I get everything I need...
There was a user who I spent a few years trading limited event items with a while back, but sadly she is no longer with us. I miss my trading buddy, we sort of bonded over helping each other out.

Happy Anniversary, Subeta. Favorite memories... this site has helped me through some painful experiences, health issues, and I have made some wonderful friends! Please stay around for a very long time.
I LOVE how this site has been around and been such a cool place to hangout for the entirety of the 19, almost 20, years i've been on! I've seen server crashes, celebrations, avatars be introduced, and brand new pet colors be release even to this day! I will always come back to this site even if i leave for a bit. This is the only site I feel happy paying a montly sub to it even if I might not visit for a bit. Keep on keeping on, Subeta! Luv yeah <3

Happy Anniversary Subeta. You are so much more than a petsite. It seems we are a community that cares about one another and shares joys and troubles as well. The jokes, the contests, the adorable pets, the resonsive and responsible staff - Subeta has it all. I hope we are all around to celebrate another 22 years of you.
My favorite part of Subeta is that it kept me sane during a bad time in my life and got me to focus on some fun stuff. Thanks. :D
happy 22nd Subeta. couldnt say i have a favorite memory, i just really love this place. I've been really struck lately by how many app games make their money off of creating something fun and then introducing the paywall behind which more and more of the fun is gradually locked away. or if it isnt that its websites like social media that are consciously programmed by people to get us hooked and thrive on/profit off the mindless propogation of misery...
and subeta just isnt any of that. its a fun little place where everyones working towards our own little goals, often acting altruistically in the process. theres stuff that costs real money but never anything otherwise unobtainable. when theres a problem with the site we talk to someone we know by name and it gets fixed (sometimes more "eventually" than people would like but hey thats life)!

My favourite thing about subeta, having been here almost the whole time, is all the names that are familiar to me over the years - who plays subeku a lot, who likes certain events, who shows up in my notifications for other events, who sends me random things, all almost-friends whose names I know quite well despite almost never talking! It's a lovely community, like walking the block and waving at the same people every time

Neo felt too...silly and basic, while Gaia was growing too big and trying too hard. In my search for other pet/avatar sites, I came across Subeta and fell in love with it soon after joining. If you had told my 16-year-old self that I would still be here 20 years later I wouldn't have believed you, but I'm so happy to still be a part of this great site and wonderul little corner of the internet ๐

I'm so glad to be back on Subeta! I've made new friends, relearned A LOT, learned to find my happy place on here, & that I love to just make people smile and happy for no reason on this site. I feel this new Pay It Forward is something Oreo would of absolutely adored <3 :')

One of my fave memories of Subeta is my first year of Survival, which checking back was 2009...gosh that’s a long time now.
I loved the suspense of when you might become infected, then watching the progression. I also loved how more detailed the artwork on Subeta was compared to other petsites, especially for a horror/gore fan.

Gods, there's been so many great memories here. I think my favorite ones were during the launch of the Steamwork Masquerade and the whole plot throughout that. And I loved when we went back to it when the Rift was introduced! And when the Underground opened with the Zombies and there was that whole story campaign going on!
I love the events and the community here, and even if people sometimes disagree, we're all passionate because this is a great site with a great team behind it and we want it to keep rolling on. Thank you for making every year blessed here and for keeping things going all this time. ♥ I've had a great 19+ years here, and I hope that there's many, many more on the horizon. ♥

I am so, so, SO excited to see all the garden love. I remember cursing my adhd when it was the old way (all those poor, withered seedlings...) and this has been a highlight of my daily routine since the update. :)

Oh wow gardening is so different! I kind of like it? There's a lot more I can plant now :3 I always forget tho... also I don't really have friends so hoping people out there can say they want a seed for me to gift ^^;

Rebuilding my virtual pets here when Neopets treated me like trash is a fond memory.

@StarShadow Yeah the items will grow from the seeds and can be used as cosmetics/added to wardrobe or kept as flowers/collectibles it would seem! A very cool idea.

My favorite Subeta memory is honestly probably my first Winter with Subeta. The catalogue of wearable items was much smaller then, but it was so cool discovering all of the items with interesting designs, and especially fun ways to dress up for the holidays when much of the internet still had cute ideas. Bodysuits, corsets, backgrounds, various different styles of wings, the bright colors and charming anime art style... Back when I used to think we were supposed to play the games to earn sP, which was more fun than questing but did leave me baffled at how everyone else had so much sP to spend. I definitely thought the quests were a rip-off no one would go for lol. I had just come from Neopets and remember being so incredibly happy to see all of the bloody and bloodred options, too. I remember working hard to collect silly little items like all of the puffy hats haha. Seems crazy now knowing how cheap they are.
Nothing really beat the start of my journey with the site. Everything still had a sense of mystery, and it felt like I could find plenty of things to do that seemed worthwhile at the time.

It's been such a pleasure being on this site for a decade. I was so frustrated by another very popular pet site and when a friend sent me a referral here, it was such an upgrade and I was hooked. My favorite Subeta memory is being on a phone call for hours on end with said friend playing and sending each other funny items (poop foods were definitely top of the list back then lol)
My birthday isn't until next week, but this is what is making me feel really old. How is it possible that Subeta is 22 years old?! How is it possible that I've been here for 20 years?! I remember thinking that there was a decent chance I'd try to log in one day and find out the teenaged owner/creator had just dropped it without warning, so even though I loved Subeta so much from day 1, I tried really hard to prepare myself for the worst. And then to see you working to rebuild it was really the arrow to the heart for me to see what a labor of love this has been for you. So even though Kumos never really worked for me very well, I was still excited to read about every update, knowing it would keep Subeta going for even longer, but bittersweet because I knew the time was coming when you'd transition fully and that might be my slow Subeta retirement. So I think my happiest memory in these 20 years is when you announced the success of repairing the og site and moving everything back here and all of the changes since then. It felt like watching everyone leave the party, but then all of a sudden they kicked the door down and yelled 'surprise' to kick off an even better celebration. Not sure if that makes sense, but I get teary thinking about the little that I know about what you've poured into this site and how much it has meant to me through dark times and joyous times. Thank you for giving us the gift of this amazing site. It means more than you can know.

Happy anniversary, Subeta! There's so many fond memories but I think the stand out is always going to be when a few of us exiles came here, how we were welcomed and fit right on in. That and my first sojourn into the battle dome and not having a clue what I was doing, but that was more a lol than anything. Cheers and long may you run!

I have to say, I think my favourite memory was back when I was still working my old job and was really just in a great spot in life for finances, fashion, and a whole bunch else, and I remember making a thread just asking about what everyone's favourite thing about Winter was I think? That kind of marks the time in my memory when I came back to Subeta the first time after kind of making my account and then not doing too much with it. I remember a very particular morning when I was posted at my desk just enjoying the bright sunshine on a kind of coolish morning, enjoying some coffee and buckling down to try to make a nice outfit, hunting down desired pieces and finally making some big sP purchases, all while probably listening to some good music. I remember the blissful feeling was quite unmatched. Everyday I'm glad I can boot up Subeta and come see all the wonderful things the site has to offer, and feel like a part of something very special in this world. I hope Subeta goes on for a long long long time and we can all enjoy this lovely space as much as possible!
