Subeta Anniversary!
A year ago we were building a different Subeta somewhere else. Project Kumos was a full rewrite, and after a long run at it we stopped. It was eating every hour we had and handing back a site that wasn't better than the one you were already logging into. So we came back to this codebase, the old one, and it's been a much better time 💗.
This site is 22 because people keep showing up for it: reporting the broken thing, arguing about balance, welcoming somebody who just made an account, running contests, and creating stunning pet profiles.
‼️ This year's anniversary item can't be claimed. Somebody has to give it to you.
Every day this week you get five Celebratory Sprinkle Seeds to hand out at the Gardens.
There are two ways to spend your five. Type in a username, or serve the looking for a seed line: click once and the site picks who it goes to. The person who gets it sees your name. You don't find out who you helped (but maybe they'll post on the forums or leave a comment thanking you).
If you're the one waiting, join the line. Emma sweeps it for anyone who's been there more than four hours, so nobody sits all day. You can take five seeds a day, and one person can only give you one.
The giving runs for a week. After that the seeds stop going out and whatever's planted still grows.

I'm confused. I only got 4 seeds instead of 5 and I gave them all to friends. Where is the 5th? And did I get credit for the 4 I gave away?

Wow, 22 years and I've been here for 18 of 'em!
It's hard to choose one favorite memory but I'll go with 2012 Survival because that's what got me really hooked on the site as an active daily player. I kept my zombie infection (Crack Head lol) all the way until I was able to convert it to a removable skin and it was always a fun challenge to work around in the wardrobe. Survival is still my favorite event here. I find something to enjoy about all the events though and I even have plenty of fun here doing quests and dailies when nothing special is going on. Subeta is my comfy, cozy, happy place every day. Thank you for keeping it going! :)

I think I've posted the same memory every year . . . but it's because the people I've met here, the friends that I've made are just as precious to me as the friends I made when I was a little one on the first day of school. There's always someone to help you, someone to check in on you, someone to surprise you, someone to make you laugh. Even though I'm rather shy about posting in the forums or the Shoutout Box, the times that I've screwed up my courage to join the conversation, I've always been welcomed. And that's why I keep coming back to this site. It's such a sense of home to me. The people, the events, the community, the games, the pets, the HA to dress up, the gardens . . . all of it is my favorite memory :) I know the team behind the scenes is small, but you're all mighty wonderful at what you do. Thank you very much for making and maintaining such a wonderful place on the internet.

It's been such a joy following Subeta over the years. I've known of it for some years before I made my account, watching my sister explore the site. It was during covid that I finally decided to join the site myself. How is that six years ago already ?!

my favorite subeta memory...
ok as tempted as i am to go for the, idk, obvious 'haha lea is obsessed with pet slots :)' bit with my screenshot of keith saying he was all for 'massively' increasing the pet slot cap...
my favorite subeta memory is... well, probably of the meetup i went to. i'm super shy irl so i was mostly just hanging out listening to other people talk, but it was so cool to be there and i was happy to hang out. :) it's been so long my memory's kind of fuzzy but i remember we got to request a sketch from the artists that were there and i remember rah being happy that i requested a mallarchy instead of a more popular species, haha.
my favorite on-site memories are from past plots. perfectly understand why there aren't resources for them anymore but man, they were always fun and i loved how involved the community got!

God, I've been here nearly 11 years and I still remember the excitement of those early days of mine. I remember being so excited to give people gifts for my first Lumi and being given things in return, the generosity of people in this community is really something that's continued to astound me as the years have wore on and I've gotten, admittedly, a little more jaded towards others at times. The folks here are so welcoming and friendly. And the staff works so hard to make sure it remains that way. Here's to another 22 years to come!
I've joined 8 years ago, but still feel like a newbie. I feel like my favorite memory was trying to know everything there was to do at the very beginning. Mainly because me and my friend joined together and we're super happy to find a new place where we could bring back our pets "from the dead" (you know what I mean if you also lost your neopets acc after changing your password). Happy 22 years, subeta! I hope there are many more to come, I still need more time to develop my chars and their pet profiles, and more slots to keep bringing them back to life <3

Favorite memory...wow! That's always so hard when it comes to the Anniversary, but I guess I would say my favorite would be when Subeta did the floating goodie bag, but mostly the 8th year anniversary bags.

I've been here 20 years so I've been on this site for around half my life. Which is nearly as long as this site has been around =D

Congratulations on 22 successful years, well done.. I'm an old-timer here and have had so many great times... I remember the Holiday Shop, the first Lumi, and how exciting I found the Advent calendar... The first Black Friday—back then, almost everything worked without a 404 error... :) ... I hope you’ll stick around for a long time to come, even if it means it’s finally time for something new... I don’t mean individual items, but a complete update for all the shops, because I think after all these years, even the last person has everything there is in the shops… Maybe it’s finally time for a plot or something like that again… Well, you’ll figure it out… Subeta is just part of everyday life…

My favorite memories are also a lot of the old holidays and site events. Especially when there was a plot or something, everyone coming together to figure out the next steps and help each other, speculating about where the story would go, etc. I haven't been as active on the forums for the past few years or so, but it's still fun to hang around.
Also that cake pop hair is super cute!! (all of the items are nice of course, but that's my fave, hehe)

My favorite Subeta memory is how I used to through the backlog of pet spotlights on my commute home from school when I was a teen! It was (and still is) always so much fun to see all the creativity and love that gets poured into every single line of text, code and art <3

Happy Birthday Subeta!! I've been here a while (I think I just clocked eighteen years) and this is my go to place where I don't have to wear a mask and can just be me. And I come here all the time, I love to hide here. Daily. I can be absorbed into the site. It's home.
