Longcat is GONE. It has been removed from the site, and Draconis has taken it's place.
I'd like to take this time to issue an apology to you, the users. In the past month we have been handling a situation with multiple sites, over a silly 64x64 canvas filled with pixels. This was known to all of us as Longcat, and wasn't an important item on the site.
The item caused confusion, and most of all it caused controversy on Subeta, as well as outside of Subeta. We kept fighting for Longcat and Subeta in hopes that it would protect the users, and make Subeta appear strong, and able to find off any attack. Whatever you've been told, keeping Longcat was never about pride, it was about keeping the site safe from internet terrorists now, and in the future.
We weren't aware of the ability of one item to take down multiple fan-dedicated sites, and cause a legion of internet users to attack Subeta and it's users, not only on Subeta, but on other sites. We asked all users to change passwords, and make changes to their internet lives that could have been spared, had the item not been kept up.
Some will look at this as a loss for Subeta, while we are viewing it as a definite win. We are able to continue about our business and create fun, exciting new things for all of you to do, and you are able to play Subeta without worrying about what is lurking, and who is really your friend.
Again, we all apologize for any problems that you may have experienced in the past month due to this little group of pixels, and we hope that all of you keep playing Subeta. The site is about you, the users, and would be nothing without you. We also want to extend an apology to any community outside of Subeta that has been affected by this, including the communities we were having this problem with - all of the chans. Hopefully we can all move on to things that are more important :) We also apologize for any actions we took that may have provoked the chans, including taunting or pushing them to make sure they knew we weren't going to give up. All of this we accept as our fault, and we are apologizing to every party for.
Starting out the new features, is the Cult Revamp! Recoded to work much better, you can now create a cult and choose from a number of pre-made templates, which range from Angelic to Hydrus :)
We are leaving the comments on this post open, in hopes that everyone can play nice. We will disable that easy if need be.

NoirRaven: There's very many Anons who have pledged to stop attacking Subeta and it's users once Longcat is taken down. Right now on 420chan they are saying they are done. Sure, there will be some who will be stubborn and not give up yet, but that will peter out and they'll no longer get the support from the rest of their site. And if the admin of 420chan follows through with his end of the bargain, they won't even be able to make threads on his site pertaining to Subeta.
If we had longcats in our inventory or wardrobe, where they supposed to be replaced with the Draconis?

Thanks, Keith. For what it's worth, I don't see this as backing down to internet terrorists (which they very clearly are), but rather making a change to make the site more fun. I think the longcat wore out its use as a fun HA item a while ago and it's only use here became continuing the drama. In other words, users got all the enjoyment out of it they were ever going to get. Changing it into something new (and cool!) made it a fun item again and it was best for the site.

NoirRaven: I understand what you're saying, but I mean something a bit different. I'm lurking on the chans right now to see their reaction, and a lot of them are very happy. But a lot of them see the apology Keith has made as being very.. shallow.

I like the new item, but I think getting rid of longcat was ridiculous. Way to bow down to 'bullies'.
It is sad that people fight over pixels.... but I am very proud of the staff for handling this in the best way possibly... with maturity and respect to what the majority of subetan users asked for. In our poll we voted to keep the Longcat and at that time you gave us what we asked for. Personal safety and security far outweigh any little pixel that we may collect. So, while I am sorry to see the Longcat go, I respect the choice that was made. Hopefully now both sides can go about there business and we can return to doing what we love best... enjoy Subeta. Thanks Keith and Staff. Keep up the good work at making this a place where my family and I can enjoy a little fun together.

I don't mind it... at first I thought we should keep the item because we had done nothing wrong, but then as i came to know the chans, (yes, ew, but....) I saw that our version was a definite insult to them... in their culture, there is only one Longcat, a single, godlike being, and to have it draped all over everyone... yes, i see how they took it as an insult. Not that that makes what they did right, at all, and I still think the people who did some things should go to jail, but I also think removing it was the right thing to do.
Aphex2win: You're right you know. They won't leave us alone now that they know they can get to subeta's admin via tormenting other sites. :/ I definitely don't see this as anything more than a temporary solution.

You made the right decision. hugs spiffy dragon I didn't even know what the longcat was really and it's horrible that people are cruel enough to bully the players here just because of a bundle of pixels. I'm really glad it ended. Some chan minions were commenting random things about this 'war' on my profile and I was offended.

My son is very sad though. He loved the longcat. (He also lost his account during this whole war. :-/ Something I've been writing in to staff to see if it can be fixed. Somebody who would hack/rob from a 9 year old child is despicable.)
