Don’t know where to start when it comes to battling? Luckily, I’ve just finished putting together a guide for all those who are new to battling.
Take a look and start battling today!

I think some brief adds like:
(I also think Bronze Quill should be replaced with any T1 healer, since the quill doesn't takes healet slot - Red Rreign Staff of Lore
suggested)
Code:
Code:
(I also think Bronze Quill should be replaced with any T1 healer, since the quill doesn't takes healet slot - Red Rreign Staff of Lore
suggested)
Code:
1) Next, head to the Armory and add those weapons to your default set! (Have in mind some weapons as Pea Bomb you can only have 1 equiped to each pet)
2) Some weapons can be used only Once Per Battle (also like the bomb), others can be used infinitely (the rod and the shield), or only once (potions).
3) You have 1 healer slot and 1 stealer slot between the 8 weapons you can have. Weapons like Red Rreign Staff of Lore occupies the healer slot, and others doesn't, such as quills. You don't need to care about stealers for now.
Also, about scrolls, no need to add a lot of info:Code:
You can also teach spells to your pet using a scroll. To learn the spells, your pet need to have the amount of Alchemy Points the scroll charges. You gain 1 Alchemy Point reading a certain number of books to your pet.
Scrolls can be made at Secluded Shrine and you can use one spell at each atack.

Maybe a intro guide to questing? We have a ton of quests, so maybe it'd be best to recommend the easiest/cheapest ones to do as a newbie until they're wealthy-enough to do the more expensive quests (Maleria, Library, Saggi).

def. needs to mention the 30 day transfer thing and how to get unstuck from battle if pet is happy/full

Ahh bless this! I also agree with @METROID about doing this for other features as well. I've been on subeta for 5 and a half years and just started being active again. Embarrassingly i'm feeling a bit confused with all the new bells and whistles, feeling like quite the newbie again.

This is great! I'd love to see more guides like this start to crop up around other various features. I hope this will attract newbies not only to the site, but to battling as well. x3

Looks really good to me for someone starting out! :) I think it falls in line with some of the other bare basic guides I've read on some games.

Amen to the common reasons a pet might not be able to battle (already in a battle, hungry, bored, 0 hp)! That question comes up ten fold whenever a plot involves battling, and I think that'd point a lot of people in the right direction since I have a feeling a lot of users looking at that guide might have starving/bored/0 hp pets.
Maybe mention pets freshly transferred can't battle for 30 days, too?
I like briefly touching bases about scrolls, too. If only to mention they exist-- point them to the shrine, and mention that you can unequip them from pets, too. Potions probably wouldn't hurt either, but equippables are just another layer of confusion that might do more harm than good right out of the box (they are far less important than scrolls, too) since they're kinda convoluted to explain.

It looks good to me now. We don't mean for this to be an in-depth guide -- if newbies enjoy their first few battles and want to learn about tiers, how to unlock challengers, what potions are, etc., they can find that info on the BC chat. This is just to give people the most basic info to get them started. :)

Yeah I was just thinking you could give a scroll away, because scrolls are a really important foundation to a battle set that can be missed. But then you have to explain intel and AP too...

Maybe a line or two saying potions and scrolls can be used on top of your weapons of choice, since the guide starts talking about weapons and then jumps straight to "lists of the most useful weapons, potions and scrolls". Causes a bit of the "wait, were potions and scrolls even a thing? weren't those just for coloring pets?" reaction, imo.
I agree with keeping it at a smallish/middle length so it's not too overwhelming.

The Healer didn't get a mention. You could drop a word in about her (especially if you just lost!)
Also maybe something about common reasons your pet can't battle? Because I see this all the time. Something like 'make sure you pet is fed and healthy, and not in an active battle' with appropriate hyperlinks to guide you.

Also needs the reason you may not be able to fight, pet feed, happy, and healed? Stuck in battle? I see that asked quite a bit.

Perhaps some inspirational talk about how they will be called upon at times to fight off hoards of not-delicious gelatin monsters and the likes. I think people would like to know that if they start right away, their effort will be put to good use throughout their playing time.

We're discussing how to expand this page without it getting too lengthy (that can scare people away). We'll touch on tiers and the other terms they'll see (limit one, once per battle, stuff like that). What else absolutely should be on a very quick-n-dirty newbie guide?

Ehh not to try to go against the tide, but I really think that just having a very bare bones guide like that is probably best, especially pointing them to the battle forums at the end as that really is the best spot for up to date information. Filling up an intro with a wall of information seems like it will help sort out any questions but I think it would probably be more likely to intimidate a newbie than help them. The way its written as a quick how to I think really works best.

This page is excellent, I think it's a really great start! :) I'm glad all our feedback is being addressed so quickly.

Working on the error! We think all the servers didn't pull, so we are trying to push them all again to get the page working for everyone. <3

Well, isn't this the best thing that has come out of battle day so far! I would love to see it get expanded and, at least, get links to useful sticky threads, so it could work as an index for the information that already exists but is "scattered apart" on the forums c;

Good feedback, User not found: tobiko! I'll talk with the Battle Admins about adding that into the guide. :)

Super cute guide, a very good start that I'm sure will be helpful to new comers. I would like to see a bit of weapon explanations added in there (healers, freezers, stealers) and how you can only take one into battle. Otherwise, nice!
Wait no-- tiers. It needs tiers, too. Yes.

Now that is excellent, quick and clear and a point in the right direction, very well done :).

I think it should be mentioned that you have to unlock some opponents, like the opponent Angry Angry Arnold that Kain suggested. If a newbie wanted to fight him after visiting this page, they wouldn't be able to.
