@Yamachi & @Renata mine is life long that seems to go into remission sometimes but hasn't for several years now. They first found it over 30yrs ago when I was pregnant! Have since found was caused by Antiphospholipid Syndrome so it's a balancing act with my specialists for enough platelets mixed with blood thinners. I'm actually on immunosuppressants for it so yeah, it really impacts your life. But I refuse to let it run my life :) SO glad it can help raise awareness :D and so stoked it won!

I love this pet spotlight! I have ITP and it's the kind that doesn't go away. I was at a count of 1 and below when they first found out and it took weeks to get me back to a stable level and then months and months after of treatments to get me to where I am today. I didn't like talking about it, I felt weak and like I should of done something to take care of myself so this wouldn't of happened. But over the years I have gotten more used to it and how it effects my life, like having to explain to people about the transfusions and the infusions and why I can't go out and do things like play paint ball. It's sad sometimes, but it's more shocking that people don't even realise that this can happen to your body, short term or long term. Thank you so much for making an informative spotlight and I hope more people know about this.

Great pet profile! 'Love to see information being shared about ITP, too! I was super lucky and only had one treatment for mine to go into remission (and, so far, stay in remission for over a decade), but my count was 5k when I was diagnosed (likely childhood onset that never resolved, but was diagnosed around 20 years of age). I know people who have tried every treatment, including splenectomy, and their ITP only goes into remission for very short bursts then comes right back again. Everyone with ITP reacts so differently to the treatments. My heart goes out to anyone having to live with ITP and to those supporting people who live with it.
