I apologize even though honestly I had never said anything that was meant to be harmful or an attack to you in any way, Seerow. Some people just misinterpreted that very small sentence that I had typed out after trying to clarify what Wheatley had said and made such a huge deal about it that it blew up into this huge argument. I certainly never saw it coming, nor did I ever /want/ a huge argument to come out of it.

I still give you, Seerow, my sincerest congratulations, and again, I'm very sorry for all the fighting and arguing that has gone on in your pet spotlight winner's news post. No harm was ever intentional on my part.

Good day to you all, and for everyone else, PLEASE do not type up a retort that is intended to harm me or any of the other users. The entire argument was uncalled for and the harassment against me was also very much uncalled for, as again, I had never meant any harm towards anyone. If anything, yes, I was critiquing the rules under which pet spotlight winners are graded and selected on as opposed to this particular pet spotlight winner. This is not the right place to do that of course, so I will admit that I was in the wrong for commenting like that.

I reiterate, I was never intending to harm ANYONE, Seerow included.

Congrats on the win! I HOPE ALL OF YOUR PETS WIN THE SPOTLIGHT.

@Seerow
yeah, I totally understand. i do completely understand and respect your reasoning.

And again, I'm truly sorry for being such a dick down there. /: i really didnt expect that whole thing to have blown up so much and i really didn't realize how rude my comment was at the time of posting it. i'd go delete it if i could, i'm kinda embarrassed that i acted like that, lol..

Grats to Jeysca! Rather exciting that all pets from that main story line have won and now have matching trophies.

To everyone saying I'm lazy about reusing layouts: I can see where you're coming from, but I also don't think it's grounds for the rules of the competition to be changed or cause this much of a ruckus. I can't code to save my life other then editing very minor things. I can't stand how tedious it is and how very easy it is to mess up and people who code different layouts for each of their pets deserve my up most respect.
I /like/ my pets to all be matching however. I think it ties them all to my account if someone sees one of them and happens along another later. I like the uniformity of it, and the simple clean layouts. I'm sorry it bugs some of you, but I hope you can respect my reasoning for it. Just know I wasn't being lazy in my pets because I reused coding. Making those tiny tweaks from the base coding took me much longer to do then it probably should have.

Congrats!

I like the pet's profile. It's nicely organized and easily to read. <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />

I don't think it's "lazy" to use the same profile coding, with different colours, pets, TCs, etc. Not everyone WANTS to use an entirely different layout for each pet.

To the people dissing the owner of the pet: stop being so rude to the Pet Spotlight winners.

Not everyone is great at coding. And not everyone has the ability to commission or ask a friend to do coding for them. Seerow's coding is very clean. She color coordinates it for all of her pets. Everything about EACH pet is very different. Who cares if she's using the same coding? At least she -has- coding, and at least it is very well put together. It's a really, really stupid thing to complain about IMHO.

And I agree with other people here - this is NOT the place to complain about it. If you really want to pitch a fit, make a post on the Bragging and Complaining forums. That's what it's there for. Don't ruin someone's pet spotlight win.

Congrats on winning again, Seerow - you and Jeysca deserve it! Don't let all the naysayers get you down, your pets are lovely <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_heart.gif" border="0" />

For one, congrats Jeysca and Seerow. :3 I love her character.

Two, people, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. :/ Have you ever stopped and thought about how the petspotlight winners feel when people baww about their pets?
0

Jen

Congrats Seerow! I simply adore your pets, they're all so well crafted, the profiles are a pleasure to look at and read. HERE'S TO 18+ MORE WINS!

Goodness people. .-. This is not what I expected to see! Well at least it seems to have sorted itself out. It's such a SILLY THING to argue about. Some people like to have the same coding with just different colors/backgrounds - my sister has that sort of coding for her account! I meanwhile, plan on making all my profiles more different. That doesn't make her lazier or me any less lazy. :c I am actually very lazy.

Meanwhile, beautiful story, wonderful pet! Always did like the Glades, though Nightmare is still more my slice of pie~ ;3 Glad to see this nice pet win, Seerow! <3 Congrats.

Murdoc

-insert popcorn eating gif here-

the colors used for the profile are gorgeous! i never would have realized it was reused if some people had pointed it out. the style is simplistic, but very pleasing. personally, i can see why it'd be reused. so nice! of course, she's got a well written story and nice TC... congrats, seerow! you deserved the win. c: don't let the rainy butts get to you~

soren

Aw, it's so sad to see an argument on this pet's winning post. :c Poor Seerow, don't pay any attention to 'em. Your pet was very deserving of that win, and I hope your spirits haven't been hurt by all of the things said here. Congratulations to you and Jeysca! :3

Congrats! Maybe I'll win one, one day <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" />

i find it kind of awful that esbreeon is getting almost all the crap from this when she was actually rather mild about the whole thing in her first comment and i guess i'm the one who was an ass about it at the beginning. there's no reason esbreeon should be targeted for this /:

man, i'm sorry, i realize that that was a pretty dick comment from me down there and i really didn't intend it to be so aggressive. either way, there's no reason to turn it into a big debate and keep going, at this point, in my opinion. can we please stop dragging this out and just give seerow her happy congratulations comments this should be now? and i really i do mean it when i say its a deserved win. it's not always easy to express genuine feelings through the internet but i really do mean that 'congratulations' i've said numerous times now.

i'm out now, i really don't want to keep dragging this on

ITT: A very silly argument begun by ungraciousness.

Congratulations to Seerow, and darn it, Hearts, I am now reading all your pet profiles. :|
0

Esbreeon

@Icarus
NOWHERE did I insinuate that she was unworthy of such wins. Holy crap. I was NEVER meaning any offense to the owner of the spotlight winner.

If I ever came off as offensive, then I apologize. But I'm getting tired of people only half-reading what I have to say in defense of myself, putting words in my mouth, and acting as if they knew exactly what I was talking about whenever I typed back a reply.
0

finch

@Esbren @druid
You can say 'oh, but congratulations!' all you want, but that doesn't change the fact that it's a backhanded, passive aggressive compliment, if a compliment at all. Basically you're telling Seerow that her pets aren't as worthy as winning as others. You are allowed your opinions -- I personally enjoy giving my pets different layouts myself -- but you don't have to be a dick about it, especially all over someone's winning post. Tacking on 'congratulations' to the end of a long winded complaint about how you dislike this and that in winners doesn't make it any less of a douchey move.
0

Werewolf

@Icarus
lol esbreeon's won before dude, and thats not it at all. but go ahead, think what you'd like
0

Esbreeon

ITT: People assuming. None of the users who have complained in here are annoyed by the fact that they haven't won yet. And I have actually won once.

Again though, congrats Seerow. I do love your pet stories.
0

ITT: people butthurt because their pets haven't won yet.

Congratulations, Seerow! <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_grin.gif" border="0" />

@Hearts
...You're pointless to even have a debate with. You're turning this into a huge argument. Besides, it seems like your making this whole thing about yourself. This was never about you, and yet you reacted as if it were... and you continue to do so!

And critique is not rude unless it is actually attacking someone. I WAS /NEVER/ ATTACKING SEEROW. The things I suggested were ways that they could IMPROVE on their pet spotlight nominations' profiles. I never said that they were terrible. I never said anyone was lazy. Again, STOP PUTTING WORDS IN MY MOUTH.

Like I said earlier, it's pointless to try and debate with you since you just turned it into an argument. I don't approve of how you took what I said personally and attacked me over it, either. Whatever. I'm done with you.

@Vash
The general opinion that someone stated was that "... a user who has previously won reusing profile codes from a pet they've already won with, because, sorry, that's just lazy."

My pets all share the same base template code, but apparently, 'that's lazy'. Simple as that. So by default, I suppose everyone else who does the same thing, is lazy, too.

@Esbreeon
Then what was the point of you pointing out that you've seen "tons of complaints on a lot of other pet spotlight winners' news posts. If you look back at some of the previous news posts for certain pet spotlight winners, you will see EXACTLY what I'm talking about." So that whole sentence was pointless. So you weren't trying to justify your remarks in any way. Oh, okay. Point taken.

It's not whether you meant to do this or that, or whether you meant to start drama or not. The bottom line is, there is a time and place for critique and it's not on the news post of a Pet Spotlight winner, because it is really, really rude, no matter how you choose to phrase it. :/

--

But all in all, I think the whole idea that using a base template for coding for pet profiles is 'lazy' or is 'bland' or etc is just ... a worthless argument. I think it would offend a lot of people, because a lot of people do the same thing - including me. Many people know my pets and I think the last thing that would ever come out of their mouths is that my pets are lazily done - although feel free to prove me wrong! Does the fact my pets share the same base coding negate EVERYTHING ELSE that I do for them? Also, what Oddishness said is so amazingly correct, I agree 100% with her.
0

Werewolf

i'm not gonna argue about this <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_raspberry.gif" border="0" /> i stand by my point and that's that, no point in getting into a big debate. also i'm not referring to hearts or even seerow specifically with any of what i said, though i guess it does of course come across as directed specifically at seerow. i apologize for that

i also must say that i partially agree with what oddishness said! i think that all the aspects of a pet are pretty equally important though.

and i also will say it a third time -- congratulations, seerow, again, and i really enjoyed reading the story. you have a lot of writing talent
0

oddishness

Look at it this way, everyone. I prefer to have different layouts for each of my pets. It's just my preference. I don't draw or code anything on my pet profiles, so buying the coding and art is actually the easiest part.

The long process of forming a character and writing about them is what REALLY takes time and effort. If those of you who made a point of complaining had actually bothered to read the writing on the pet's profile you'd see that Seerow is exceptionally good at writing and the story on Jeysca's is really unique and well-done. As someone who pours the most effort into the development of my characters rather than just the aesthetics, I think that's a really big deal.

I'm not trying to call anyone out or make anyone feel bad, I just want you guys to know that Seerow definitely put PLENTY of effort into this pet. CONGRATS SEEROW~!

I also wanted to say congrats either way Seerow.. I do like reading the stories for your pets..
0

Vash

@Hearts who said you were lazy.. I think your taking too much to heart here yourself.. also you might code your own.. I can't be bothered too look too much Subeta's lagging like crazy but as I looked over Seerows .. The coding is done by someone else... I'm not attacking anyone here but I do think your just going a bit overboard by a few critiques.
0

Esbreeon

..continuing because I accidentally hit post. It's pretty much just moving numbers around. Not difficult at all. Sure, there can be a lot of trial and error involved, but really, it isn't that difficult of a concept.
0

Esbreeon

@Hearts
..I never said that the complaining was right. When did I ever say that? Please don't put words in my mouth.

And I was meaning to critique them on saying that it would be more pleasing to the eye if the profiles for each individual pet differed from each other. Since they're all coded the exact same but with only minor differences, pets winning by the same person multiple times can be seen as rather bland by other users. Again, I was NOT trying to be inappropriate or cause drama or any of that other junk.

Also, making adjustments is rather easy.
0

May

@Esbreeon
Your thoughts were rude. How would you feel if you won and someone came along and said the same thing you did? It's not appropriate, as Darling said. And again, just because other people have done the same thing, it doesn't mean that it's right.

@druid
I'm laughing that you're calling me rude when your negative comments on someone's news post is apparently A-OK behaviour. And calling them lazy is apparently not OK. But I can't call you out for it because I'M being rude.

And excuse me? Despite that my pets share the same base coding, I SLAVE over my pet profiles. Adjustments for you might take 5 minutes, but they definitely do not for me. Additionally, coding isn't the only thing you do for pet profiles. I put so much crazy work and effort into my pets that for someone to say that I'm lazy because I've used the same base template (which I coded myself from scratch) is really offensive.
0

Darling

That other people have complained in spotlight comments doesn't mean that it's appropriate behaviour, though. If you want to vent, you can take it to Bragging and Complaining. If you want to criticize aspects of the spotlight or suggest different criteria for winning, there are forums for that too. It's not the owners' fault their pets met our guidelines and were selected. Frankly, I find it rude and unfair to winners to express that kind of thing here if your beef is with the rules. :/

ANYWAY, congrats Seerow! <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_heart.gif" border="0" /> Always a pleasure to read about your pets, and a much deserved win. c:
0

Werewolf

@Hearts
wow, chill, man. you don't need to be rude, these are all pretty valid points being brought up. there's nowhere that says you can't make comments about the winner of the pet spotlight. i can think of winning pets in the past have gotten even more criticism than this, and much less politely than anyone has said here.

and, well, of course you think that if you, also, reuse your codes and have won many times as well. the coding is what actually takes time. i could take a profile i've coded for one of my pets and change the color codes and any images in it in less than five minutes to customize it for one of my other pets, if i wanted to, easy. yeah, it IS kind of .. lazy, especially when you think about the many awesome pets out there that still haven't won by users that have spent more time on them than someone who has simply reused an old code they've already won with. /:

but again, i said i enjoyed the pet story for this one and i do offer sincere congratulations to seerow, again.
0

Esbreeon

@Hearts
...dude I wasn't trying to offend anyone, don't start getting all pissy at me. And it's not just this user, I've seen tons of complaints on a lot of other pet spotlight winners' news posts. If you look back at some of the previous news posts for certain pet spotlight winners, you will see EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

I also don't like how you're taking this all out on me. Sorry that me just giving my two cents was too harsh for you to handle, I really wasn't out to rain on anyone's parade. Holy crap, I was just giving my thoughts. :/

Congratulations to Seerow, I guess. I meant to congratulate you after my first post but I ended up getting yelled at instead.
0

May

@Esbreeon
"One of my beefs is that all of their pet profiles use the exact same coding with colours, stories, the actual pets, and TCs being the only differences."

LOL basically I can sum your argument up as 'every one of their profiles is the same ... EXCEPT FOR EVERYTHING THAT IS DIFFERENT!!!' And excuse me, there is NOTHING wrong with using a profile template which you have coded yourself and also gone to the trouble of customising for your pets.

Have you people ever heard of NOT raining on someone's parade? Pet Spotlight news posts are NOT the time to complain about Spotlight winners. Seriously, deal with it. If you really have a problem, take it to the appropriate forum. I also think it's unfair that people have won plenty of times - I've won 5 times, myself AND with 'the same profile coding' - but it's THIS user that takes the flak. That's not fair.

Seerow - lovely pet! I really enjoyed the profile and the story. I like how your pets link together! You definitely deserved this win, and many more.
0

Werewolf

i kind of agree with wheatley and esbreeon. perhaps there should be some sort of win limit perhaps because there's some users that pop up quite frequently on the winners. i believe everyone should have a chance to win, and there's still a lot of users with amazing pets out there who haven't won at all. i also believe that there should be some sort of .. points subtraction for a user who has previously won reusing profile codes from a pet they've already won with, because, sorry, that's just lazy.

cute pet, anyhow. i enjoyed the story. congratulations, seerow!
0

god

I find the profiles a bit annoying as well.
Nonetheless, I like reading about ghosts, even though I'll need to re-read it because it was slightly confusing. Congratulations. <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />

I think what Wheatley was talking about is the fact that they've won 5 times now. One of my beefs is that all of their pet profiles use the exact same coding with colours, stories, the actual pets, and TCs being the only differences.

yes yes I realize that.
