Gund was his owner's favorite toy and was always going on adventures with the boy. As the boy grew though, Gund went on less and less adventures and found himself tossed aside for robot toys, comic books, and video games. He would lay on the bed or the floor of the boy's bedroom wishing that his boy would come and take him on his next big adventure. Sometimes his wish was granted and he was included in playtime. But almost always he was the giant monster attacking the poor civilians and the robots would slay him, saving the day. The boy grew older still and thought he was too old for such things as teddy bears, so the boy took one last look at Gund and tossed him under his bed.

Gund found himself alone, under the child's bed with only dust bunnies to keep him company. They weren't much company, keeping to themselves for the most part but sometimes Gund would overhear them talking to one another. On one such occasion a dust bunny was rambling on about how if you wanted something bad enough and wished with all your might, it just might happen. Gund thought to himself about the days he would lay there wishing for his boy to come back to him but he never did. He grew very upset and if he wasn't just cloth and fluff and stuff, he thought to himself, he was sure that he would cry.

Gund laid under the bed for what he thought was a lifetime. The more he laid there, the more sad and lonely he got and the more he thought about how he wished he could go on one last adventure with his boy. He tried squinting his eyes and wishing with all his might... but again, like before, nothing happened. He instantly became the saddest he had ever been. Suddenly a flashing light appeared outside the bedroom window. It hovered into the room and traveled under the bed, stopping just in front of Gund. With a burst of light the glowing orb transformed into a small winged woman... a fairy! She smiled at Gund and with her hand she touched his face. He started to feel funny, tingly and then he realized that this was the first time he had ever really felt something.

"Could it be? Could I be alive," he thought to himself.

But then he realized he was saying it out loud and the fairy woman was brushing a tear from his warm fur. And just as fast as the fairy appeared she vanished in a stream of glitter and light. He pushed himself up off the dusty floor and crawled out from under the bed. The boy was nowhere to be found, but the fairy left the window open. A small breeze came into the room and wrapped itself around Gund. His fur felt alive and fluttered in the wind. He took one last look at the boy's room and then climbed up to the window and left on an adventure of his very own.
