escape

Seven years ago, the Achroma Bioinformatics Laboratory was shut down, its experiments cancelled and eradicated by command of the director, all beings with clearance to access the files hunted down and executed. The institute was aptly razed, the flaming ruins that charred towards the celestial vault, smoking in anguish with the millions of tortured souls that were slaughtered inside wailing in unison, agony haunting the walls. One experiment survived, the only sole survivor of the level 3 classified project Chimera. The human Jaden Vaelor, hosting such a creature, had since then disappeared off the face of the earth, dissipating like the plumes of smoke radiating from the burning ruins.

What is it like being born into a hole and knowing that you will die in a hole? It feels like the most condemning emotion, from the moment your little baby eyes squint into the enveloping darkness of a laboratory, then wrenched away from your surrogate mother's arms and brought into the laboratory. Here is where nightmares will tug at the strands of sanity in your mind, threatening to lacerate your bleeding soul into pieces. It seems imposing already; vast tables of endless chrome and a sea of undulating autoclaved glass beakers and scalpels, pipettes with their nozzles wrapped in clean plastic baggies and people garbed from the neck down in a white lab coat and round black goggles that make their visage grisly and impersonal. This was where Jaden grew up, determined at a life expectancy of five percent, one of the only children in the new Project Chimera that survived birth. His life expectancy from then on grew to ten percent, along with one other individual that he never saw. Archroma scientists made sure that he knew how important he was, and just what he was, a mere animal test subject that they would prod at until they got their desired results.

He didn't stay long enough to let them.

emergence

Chimera is honestly such a beautiful name. I've always desired the name Chimera for quite a while, stalking it fervently and nearly giving up on it... until I saw your board last minute and freaked out just a bit. I have always tampered with the idea of a chimera as a character; going far past the traditional three headed beast touted in Greco-Roman mythologies. As a student that is studying premedical and genetics (with a focus in biochemistry), I couldn't help trying to give the myth my own modern take on it!

The concept that I would give Chimera would be taking that of a human standpoint, a baby boy named Jaden Vaelor (a self given name) who was born into a laboratory, specifically selected based on his genome, to be bred into a biological weapon. The Archroma Institute is illegal and underground, funded by sadistic billionaires who want nothing more than an exceptionally strong bodyguard or assassin that they could employ to their own devious means. Thus, the project was opened; powerful people with too much money to be touched managing to control a mass of individuals in order to perform such operations.

The general idea of a 'chimera' in my canon lore would be a shapeshifter. A creature that is able to generally take on many form, but through adaptation as further generations were created, had their options narrowed. Instead, based on how their personalities are, they choose or prefer a specific range of creatures that eventually specialize into one form that they can only take. In Jaden's case, it is the dragon-like creature I drew as depicted on this layout; obsidian scales of a snake with the tail structure of deep sea fish, the bioluminescent neon green markings of toxic animals, etc etc. Sound familiar? These ideas are taken from basic natural selection! Animals will adapt their form to whatever setting they are in; so the chimera generally viewed as a changeling in lore, would be a mish mosh of various animals.

Jaden specifically, would be a pretty toxic or poisonous individual. His color scheme will primarily be black and green; obsidian scales and glowing neon green markings that act as a visual 'warning' towards other individuals who approach him... like toxic animals in the wild.

concrete

I'm sure you're thinking something along the lines of 'well this is fine and dandy, but what about you?' If you're not, then you don't have to read this! This is just a section that will tell you a little bit about myself as Chimera's possible new owner and my concrete plans for him as well as what I do here on subeta. I'm sure you don't want to give away a pet you love to a total and complete stranger!

Well my name is Lace, I am also known as Era on here. I have been a subeta-er ever since it was created, but quit halfway in before rejoining later. I have been here for five years and will be here to stay; my pets being a very heavy anchor that just won't let me leave. They are the sole reason that I belong to subeta, and the sole reason that I will continue pushing forth and bettering myself/my account on this site! As an active individual here, I participate in both art, roleplaying, and writing. I take immense pleasure in breathing life into a three-dimensional, believable character that breathes, eats, and suffers like you and I do. I attempt at making their storylines compelling and interesting, yet being realistic. I generally make a lot of my own pet profile graphics and stories as well as art; occasionally commissioning art for my characters from some of my favorite people on the site (primarily Silhouette).

Aside from that, in real life I am a biochemistry major who works at a genetics/bioinformatics lab on the side and am building towards the possibility of becoming a medical student in my major. Art is a huge priority in my life, and I always find time to draw and design my characters!

false security

So finishes my application for chimera. I truly hope that you enjoyed reading my idea for him, and enjoyed what I had to say for his story. I'm sure that you're rather busy with life as well as a slew of applications you probably have to go through after this, so thank you very much for reading mine, whether it was partial or not. I know that they can be long winded and such, but I tend to go through intense amounts of details with my characters and their development. I tried to condense it as much as possible for you, so I hope it didn't drag out too much! Thank you very much for this opportunity, I hope that your day ends up being great!

Sincerely,
Lace.
