Unlike most other Devonti, Llama was not blessed with a luxurious coat. For as long as he could remember his wool had been matted and sparse. The other Devonti loved to make fun of Llama, calling him cruel names like "baldy" and "stupid naked Devonti".

Llama's childhood was a lonely one, until one day on his walk home from school he met a lost hiker in the mountains. The hiker was scared and confused until Llama showed up, and helped him find his way back to the path. In return the hiker gave Llama a beautiful red wooly jumper.

"What is this amazing thing!?" Llama said, admiring his gift.

"It's a jumper of course" said the hiker, "have you never seen one before?"

Llama shook his head. He had never seen anything so soft and cosy in all his life. The hiker rummaged in his backpack and took out some wool and a pair of knitting needles.

"I don't know how easy it'll be to knit with hooves", the hiker said,"but you can give it a go anyway, and with all these Devonti around there will be no shortage of wool".

The hiker thanked Llama once more before continuing down the path. Llama was overwhelmed, he could hardly contain his excitement. He scooped up the wool and knitting needles and went bounding back to his house. Knitting with hooves was no easy task, but Llama practiced tirelessly and before long he had knitted his very first scarf.

Word soon caught on about Llama's new hobby, and other bald Devonti would travel for miles for a custom knit from Llama. He is the most fabulously dressed Devonti in the world, and even though he loves to experiment with different outfits, his favourite item is still that lovely red jumper given to him by a hiker all those years ago.

Art, profile and story by me.
