Do you know the saying "I've loved this as long as I can remember."? If so you know how I feel when I think of LotR. As a child I was often sick, one bronchitis left only to make room for the next , and sometimes it was so bad that my mom sat beside my bed the whole night because she was afraid I would suffocate. Due to my frail health I had to spend a lot of time in bed and there I learned to cherish both books and movies.

My parents owned a vhs recorder and a nice collection of vhs tapes, one of them having the LotR animated movie from 1978 on it – I fell in love with it immediately. I know that a lot of people hated the movie and yes, it has its flaws but nevertheless I adore it until today and connect many epic "User not found: henry and User not found: juice moments" with it. (Wait a second! Did Merry and Pippin just switch their wigs?)

A couple of years later I got the book from a library, to be honest the only time I had enough time and dedication to read the whole story but I remember enjoying that, too and thanks to my uncle who recently gifted it to me it is high up on my "What to read next"-list.

I was about twenty when I heard that there was going to be another LotR movie and, even though it sounded great, I was sceptical about it. Nonetheless I, the biggest cinema hater on earth, went to the cinema as soon as "The Fellowship of the Ring" was released in Germany and yeah, mind-blowing doesn't even describe fifty percent of what I felt while watching this movie. The only negative thing for me was that I had to wait a whole year for "The Two Towers"...oh, and Glorfindel was left out again but that's not new news.

To make it short I madly love the whole trilogy and cannot count how often I have watched it in the extended version. No other movie reaches my heart as LotR does and if I wouldn't fight against it I could possibly cry during so many scenes that my bed would be soaked afterwards. Especially scenes with Frodo give me a hard time, a VERY hard time even and this is ultimately why Hobbit is based on him as well even though I also adore the other hobbits of course.
