All the lands were ruled by two goddesses, one who controlled the sun and the other, the moon. The sun goddess was worshiped by those who deemed themselves the [Light] and the [Dark] gave praises to the moon. Both were peaceful sects relying on one another for different herbs, and goods.

Because not everyone enjoyed peace, bandits made it a habit of attacking during the time between the setting and the rising of the goddesses. When it was common for both sects to be performing the ritual of putting one goddess to sleep and awaking the other. [Neutrals] were set in place to make sure both sects were safe from harm of different bandits. [Neutrals] were inhuman or technological-modified humans that did not need sleep and could therefore protect the barriers during the changing of the skies.

Years passed with peace between both lands. Until one day a terrible storm appeared suddenly during the changing of the skies. It became cloudy and dark. The sun disappeared from view and the [Dark] awaited patiently for the moon to rise, to give their crops the much needed light to grow. But the moon never rose and the sun was never seen again. The two goddesses had fallen from the sky.

The war raged from that day on, with the sects believing the other was to blame for the missing goddesses. Everyone in the surrounding kingdoms picked sides as the land became dark and gloomy. The vegetation withered and dried; the animals scattered as the grass became dirt and then turned into sand. All [Neutrals] were sentenced to life in battle or faced the consequence of imprisonment or even death.

Teams scoured the lands for the missing goddesses. Years passed and everyone slowly gave up hope that their land would ever be free from war and torment again.

Valkyrie's were seen as small humans but with gigantic wings that could have a wingspan of greater than twenty feet. Their eyes were mainly colors of gold, yellow, oranges, and reds. Rarely a Valkyrie was seen to have blues or greens, although these were most common with Valkyries that were hard of sight.

Royal Valkyries were blessed, right after birth, with a symbol of royalty on the palm of their right hand. In the past this symbol protected the royals by allowing a small consumption of energy to be used to create a force field around the host if in danger. However it was more commonly used to distinguish a royal from the commoners in present day.

Amaleena was the youngest of her brothers and sisters. Her parents, the King and Queen, loved all of their own children and ruled their people peacefully atop their kingdom in the [Valkyrian] Mountains. They were fair and beloved by all, the people talked about how their children would become great leaders one day.

Years after the war was declared, when Ama had just turned 6, their supplies started to dwindle. Most of their stock was going towards their sects army, [Light]. With fear the Kingdom would soon fall the King declared a cutoff from the surrounding lands, destroying the only bridge that allowed non-Valkyries to reach their castle and ushered his kingdom to fall into the castle's own walls. The people were greatly relieved that the king was providing them with safety and all of the Valkyries flocked into the castles and shut the doors.

Here locked away from the horrors of the outside war, the castle was bustling with joy and feelings of safety. There, meals were shared and stories were told. They lived once again without fear, while the world outside was dying.

One night; or what was perceived to be night since the sky outside had since grown to a murky shade of gray; while the kingdom slept, traitors came in through the many entrances that were left unguarded. Here they mercilessly killed at least a hundred of people in their sleep until a bystander happened to open a dreamy eye and let out a scream. War raged within the castle. The King and Queen rushed to get to their children and were slain during battle. The royals were left without parents and the eldest male who would then ascend to the throne let out a battle cry running towards the murderers before his own head was sliced off.

Ama, being only 6, cowered in a corner watching the bloodshed and stared as her brothers and sisters were viciously murdered before her. It was then she heard a rumble and the castle walls shook heavily. Someone had planted bombs in the foundation and Ama could see the castle crumbling. Another rumble followed and another. The ceiling broke and chunks fell atop of innocents and fighters. One of the chunks landed on her sister her hand lay outstretched beneath the rubble, Ama ran out to help only to be grabbed by one of the traitors. Her royal symbol glowed brightly and her attacker was blown back, knocked over by her force field. He shook his head and ran at her again as another part of the ceiling fell, barely missing him and blocking the path. She screamed and ran, as he started climbing his way over to her, a huge bloody grin enveloping his face. She barreled through, her mind on autopilot. Everywhere she looked she saw everyone she loved viciously dying and there was no rescue in sight. Another rumble and Ama lost her footing, glancing back she saw her attacker stumble and look up with just enough time to see another huge chunk falling on top of him. Ama was pulled backwards as a searing pain went up her back. Gingerly turning her head she saw her wing mostly torn off, caught underneath a piece of the rubble.

She tried desperately to remove the stone, but it was no use. Her wing wouldn't budge and every movement created more hot flashes of pain along her side. She started to cry filled with panic and fear. Her brother, Thadeus, made his way over to her, took one look and drew his blade. Ama screamed and covered her eyes as she felt the metal tear into her. And then Thadeus, oh sweet Thadeus, picked her up and they were running. He held her against his chest as he opened up his wings to take flight. They were flying, they were going to be free.

There was a jerk, and a tumble. Thadeus let go of Ama and as she fell off the mountain, the last she ever saw of her beloved family, her kingdom, was Thadeus whispering "I love you" before his head was blown off.
