Now I will readily admit that I am not the most focused of individuals. That is one of the reasons I enjoy jogging. It's just me and the rhythm of my feet hitting the pavement in time to the music humming from my ear-buds. For me it isn't a exercise in... well exercise, but more a chance to be alone with my scattered thought processes.

A time to try an gather my splintered attentions.

So it wasn't really surprising when I tripped over the child lying in the middle of the park trail. At the time I was trying to get a glimpse of the beach through a break in the treeline and so I didn't see the him there. My first thought was, 'Oh my God, a dead body.' Too much TV crime drama I suppose, but you know it's always the jogger that finds them.

Then the body moved. Is it terribly sad that my next thought was, 'Zombie!?' You can't really blame me. Half starved and small for his age (I mistook the 14 year old for 10 at the most) the poor thing was quite the sight. I am not sure what possessed me to drag him home with me. I couldn't leave him there. Drop berates me over things like this. She swears that I am not going to be the unfortunate one to find a victim, but will be the victim instead. I think she underestimates most people though. There is a lot more good in the world than she is willing to admit.

Anyway, where was I? Oh yes, my little Loss. He didn't want to come with me. I practically dragged him to my apartment. And he didn't bring me up on charges of kidnapping, thank you Drop. I am stubborn and so eventually I got my way.

Islet cherishes those close her. She has a habit of taking in "strays". As a kid whenever a friend was having difficulties at home, she was often their haven. A prime example of this is her adopted brother Loss. She is even the one to have renamed him. She is friendly with everyone, but it usually takes a while to enter her inner circle. Once there though, she is fiercely loyal and tends to put her friends on a bit of a pedestal.

Issa is a talker and tends to say whatever pops into her head without thinking it over first. She can be a bit tactless at times and has been known to offend those who don't know her well. That isn't to say that she is ever intentionally mean spirited, she just has a quick tongue and can be opinionated. She loves to argue. It is a favorite pastime and one of the reasons she so enjoys both her boyfriend Aleksandar and her little brother's companies. They are both intelligent and will allow her to argue with them at length on almost any subject. Issa is at times known to take up a position for or against a cause simply to be able to debate it, not always necessarily because she truly wishes to defend a point of view. However, she does have a few "hot button" issues that no amount of arguing will budge her view points on.

Islet is a writer for a small local paper. She is a bit of a politics nerd and loves to cover government activities. She also writes short stories and is even working on a novel or two in her spare time. She is extremely touchy about these things though and won't let anyone see them. She doesn't think they are really any good, but she has a compulsion to write them.

Hair: Rich Chestnut in color with natural gold highlights from time spent in the sun. It is halfway down her back with some layering around her face. She likes wearing it in braids to tame it's wavy, unruliness. Usually in a single thick plait down her back, but at times two over her shoulders.
