What if we weren't alone, you know? Like what if there were others?.. There was. You see everything changed fairly recently. You might have heard about scientists bouncing radio transmissions into space for sometime, but have you heard about us receiving them back? Humanity had a lot of hope when we heard about this discovery. The problem was that we couldn't decode what they said. For years science worked to find out what this mysterious language could be. Eventually we figured it out. The problem was when we decoded it. All hope was lost. It was as if our entire world lost it's will to live. The message had reached another planet. In fact, it reached another earth. The message said something along the lines of "If you are receiving this it means you are the last. At a time many planets flourished with life, however a long time ago before you were sent to the stars, planets were one by one being destroyed. Each of the lives that existed upon it were wiped from existence. If you are receiving this, it means you are the last inhabited planet." Scientists were so excited to have decoded the 'alien' language, which happened to be an earthly tongue spoken in a robotic voice, that they broadcast the message over every channel in the world. When the words came out dull and lifeless, it was as if the whole entire world collectively decided it wasn't worth being alive anymore because we were alone. There was no aliens, no future, man there wasn't even a god. This realistic hell seemed to shock so many people, that no one really cared anymore.

I knew she couldn't sing, but the sound was perfect. As I ascended into the heavens, I heard her hymn. She rocked me back and forth as life left my body. She sang about our future. About another life where our love could survive. I loved her so much, I was glad I could die.
