Angels are peculiar beings, certainly, and they act in very peculiar ways and have very peculiar abilities. One of which is to possess inanimate objects, much like a ghost or poltergeist might. When gravely wounded an angel may inhabit such an item to give themselves time to heal out of harm's way. This is precisely the way Ziva came to be in her current predicament: Trapped in the plush body of an orphaned jollin toy.

In her battle with the powerful shadow Vertigo she found herself facing defeat and ultimately death. He had attacked the child Ziva had been guarding, and though she drove him away initially she did not fare well in the ensuing fight and was now too weak to stop him as he slowly devoured the child's soul. She was crying and shivering, pitiful mews of fear escaping her as she clutched her stuffed jollin. Ziva reached out for her, but could barely move. The shadow looked back at her, a wicked grin crossing his face as he took the final bite of her soul, snuffing her tiny life out before Ziva's eyes.

The angel cried out, a wordless scream of anger and pain and humiliation. With this scream she felt a surge of energy, but she did not lose grip on her logical mind even with the rage flooding her crippled body. The shadow laughed and advanced upon her, licking his lips tauntingly. With a bloody snarl, Ziva affixed herself to the child's plush, abandoning her injured physical form for the safety of the plush.
