Lauri Ylonen is the lead singer and songwriter for the Finnish Band, The Rasmus.

He was born in Helsinki, Finland on the 23th of April 1979. He learned to play the piano at just 5 years old and later also learned Guitar and Drums. His sister suggested that he try singing and he proved to like it more than being a drummer.

He met band member Eero Heinonen when he was eight years old and became really good friends with him. When they started attending Suutarila High School, they met Pauli Rantasalmi and then later Janne Heiskanen. Lauri and Eero started the band in 1994, first called Trashmosh, then Antilla and Rasmus and to the current day, The Rasmus. As the band was taking up so much of his time, Lauri decided to quit school and focus on the band.

In 1998, after recording 3 albums, Janne left the band and Aki Hakala became the band's new drummer and still is to this day.

The Rasmus now have 10 albums released by them and Lauri has one solo album called New World, which was released in 2011.

It's all been very quiet on The Rasmus front for the last few years, but there is evidence of them being in the studio recently.. recording some new material. I'm keeping everything crossed for a new album soon - its been too long and i miss the Fluffy Feathered Finn i know as Lauri.
