Storm Endeavor
It is time.
The Normandy has set course to Earth. It will be the first time Commander Shepard has been on Earth since the Reapers first invaded. Leaving the planet in its time of need was incredibly hard, but Anderson was right: Shepard needed to get across to the Council that the Reapers are real and that they are here now. Although he was reluctant, he ended up getting the galaxy ready for this war. He created allies he never expected to ally with. He created peace among species that was thought to be impossible. Above all, the most important thing is that he gave everyone hope. A fighting chance.
But it has been exhausting. His team has been on mission after mission to bring the galaxy together. Some were important and others were unnecessary distractions along the way. And yet, the next few hours will be the most crucial. The war on Earth. This will decide the fate of the everyone in the galaxy.
Shepard stands before the memorial wall to honor his fallen comrades before this final battle. His eyes scan the wall of names as he remembers each of the fallen heroes. Some were victims of Virmire or the Suicide Mission. Others passed away once the Reapers invaded. The list of names grew rapidly. The memorial wall does not even account for the brave soldiers who have died on their homeworlds or the innocent lives taken from this bloody war. Shepard was anxious to end this war, even if it costs him his life.
A hand touches Shepard's shoulder and he looks over to see Tali. "Their deaths will not be in vain," she says softly.
"They gave their all to end this mess," Shepard responds. "We will make them proud." He wraps his arms around Tali and pulls her closer. Once the team lands on Earth, it will be all business. He expects countless more people will lose their lives today.
"Uh, Shepard?" It is Joker over the intercom. "We've just entered the Sol System. It won't be much longer until we make it to Earth."
"Notify the team to get ready," Shepard orders. He then looks down at Tali and kisses the forehead of her mask. "Let's win this thing."
It is time.
