Twin moons hung full and round high above the serene lake, casting hazy reflections on the tranquil surface. Lush fern branches and spindly trees decorated with rich moss tendrils rimmed the edge. A warm breeze gently stirred the inky water, causing large teal and white lily pads resting on the surface to slightly sway. The sharp sounds of crickets mixed with the harmonious bellows of chubby bullfrogs in a nighttime symphony, conducted by flickers of glowflies darting to and fro.

A lithe serpentine creature, feminine in her anatomy, floated just above the surface, her white robe fluttered wide around her legs, never touching the water just below her bare feet. Long fingered hands danced in an intricate pattern of sigils and runes, her voice clear and strong in her spell casting. Motes of magic burst into the air around her body before drifting downwards and fading away into the lake’s surface. The moonlight-touched water beneath her feet churned, forming ten large opalescence spheres that ascended before her. Inside each bubble was a large goldfish, decorated with iridescent scales in ruby, gold and silver colours that caught and reflected moonshine. Graceful fans opened and closed, barely touching the sides of the bubbles that contained them. Each goldfish stayed calm and peaceful suspended above the surface in their watery spheres.
In a brilliant flash of golden light, the creature’s magic vanished, leaving nothing but the illumination from the moons overhead and the glimmer of glowflies. Her hands fell slack to her sides, her chest heaving in exhaustion. With forced effort she raised her arms and cupped the nearest goldfish contained sphere. Drawing a single sigil upon the smooth opaline surface, she released the sphere before pulling another to her. She repeated this pattern on each of the ten bubbles before gesturing in the direction of the lake’s edge. The creature and her contained goldfish bobbed across the water’s surface in silence till her feet touched vegetation covered land. The critters resumed their singing as she slowly walked barefoot along a path leading away from the magical lake, beautiful bubbles following in her wake.
