- Silverwing (Silver) has one sister, Evening Wing (Eve). Her parents (Ringlet and Supernova) and older brother (Day) died when a mysterious plague struck their homeland.
- Silver was born not being able to see colour - everything was grey to her. After the plague hit, she was able to see coloured auras around individuals. Eve was born almost blind but after the plague hit was able to see perfectly in darkness.
- The old Queen had died in the plague, and her heir ascended the throne, and took a tour of the land. When the new Queen visited the town where Silver and Eve lived, Silver saw a strong neon green aura surrounding her.
- Since the plague, the land has become increasingly corrupt. Thieves, scammers, monsters and thugs are all now common features of the once peaceful landscape.
- Silver can not see her own aura.
- Her sister took the loss of her parents and brother very hard, and has been turning increasingly to religion to soothe her emotion pain. Silver on the other hand is getting increasingly involved in an underground movement that is investigating the new queen, as they blame her for the death of the old queen and the decline of their home.
