I don't blame her for leaving me.
No, no, don't make that face! You see, I was not the only one. She had many in the same position: ones she adored, when she was small; I remember the night we played doctor back when she had the white metal framed bed. Her mother came in and yelled at us all, but we just giggled and hid under the covers with a flashlight.
I'll never forget those times.
I lived in a box for many years after that. It was like an apartment; I made friends with nearly everybody, and we played games every night. Even she doesn't know some of the stories we spun! But one day, some time later, she lifted me out without warning. She looked at me like it was the first time she had ever seen me.
And she was sad. She felt she hadn't done us justice, even though we'd made so many wonderful memories to be stored away in our minds. She was so sad when she put me into a new box marked "Donations."
But I wasn't sad. It was just like she said: I deserved adventure, just like all the other Favorite Toys.
I did not go to a new child. Not yet. Today, I rest on a shelf in the coffee shop. The smell of fresh espresso fills the air every morning, and sometimes, the people sitting next to me will look up at my little bed and say, "How cute, how cute!"
I do love photos very much. I hope you'll help me make even more good memories.
Maybe one day I'll find a new home. Until then, though, I'm quite happy where I am.
Just promise to stop by and say hello sometime!
