Reverence

Reverence acts and talks very haughty and self absorbed. He believes that everybody is below him and according to his words a 'heathen'.
Also he is convinced (or rather convinced himself) that humankind has lost its way and that faith needs to be restored desperately. Therefor he often and loudly complaints to his Key about this and makes her life quite miserable.
Underneath all of this seems to be some self confidence issue though as he is doubting by now whether he was picked for the position as a Key because he stood out from the other Seraphim or whether this was just a ploy to get rid of him for being so obnoxious.
He wants to be on the same level as one of the Archangels but he knows he'll never be their equal.

As a Seraph Reverence was one of the angels closest to the Creator's throne. Then he was chosen to represent the Faith part of the Balance and was paired up with the human Key Jean.

He's been her guide through the centuries though with time passing and every reincarnation Jean moved forward with her beliefs while Rev is still pretty much stuck in his old ways and a very medieval look on faith and sin.

Reverence loves all sorts of 'holy' places like churches and cathedrals, organ music, faithful humans and he does care about his Key despite his faults and sometimes hurtful attitude.
He strongly dislikes everything he deems sinful, especially everything sexual as he wants his Key to remain a pure virgin maiden for her place in the circle of Life and Death.
Among the Gates he only feels something akin to friendship with Law as he believes they share the same values while he completely detests Lock for his raunchy ways and loose tongue.
