Dear fellow traveler
Under the moon
I saw you standing in the shadows and your eyes won't move

or Tona

Or Tono.

You put your hand out
Opened the door
You said come with me boy, I want to show you something more

Traveler bird. Walking at length, legs and stride long, flying at length, great wings outstretched like the albatross.
Unphased by plains and oceans alike. Company is rare, not unwelcome. They never travel alongside for as long, as it is seen; someday they are lulled to stillness. Whether death or more settled lives claim them is of no consequence. Both have happened before. Both will happen again. It is alright; the world is wide and there are many in it, and many more to come. They will be welcome, should they take to the road.
Years and years and years pass, of no consequence. The passage of days is the only relevant factor. That traveling companions grow and age and settle or pass is understood and experienced at the same pace as they would see it-- it is only that such a being sees many such spans and does not tire, nor age.
Weather comes and goes, too, but it is just the same a traveling companion, and the wind over plains and rough seas come and go as any other. Thunder in particular inspires not a sense of alarm but a sense of self; little-known, for such a loud name hardly befits such a quiet bird.
Tales are told of this being, who wanders the whole world eternally, barely speaking and yet friend to all on the road or sea, all those who have wandered far from home. Many generations have encountered such a thing, at one point or another, though it is not much larger than they, and so in those great expanses it frequents is not easily spotted.
Any terrain may be traveled through, nor does settlement deter it. That which defines it is that it does not stop, ever-wandering. Forests, too, even the thickest, and mountains certainly. That wide and open places-- the sea included-- seem frequent haunts is certainly true, but they are hardly the extent of it.
