The creature once known as Hesper stalks the halls of hell, a prisoner to his own wants. He hungers for the material, for the rush of silk and weight of coin, and yearns for the feel of mortal wealth. Inside him a void has birthed, a gnawing buzz louder yet than even his flies. He tries to fill it with plundered treasure, with bricks of gold and stolen pearls, and gorges on diamonds until his every breath becomes refracted light.
Still he finds no relief.
With force unmatched and hands unchained, the fallen prince claws his way from the womb of destruction to devour the world.
Onto rock and dirt he breathes hellfire frustration, reshaping continents, until whole forests become nothing more than ash on his tongue. He savors the burn, the charcoal taste of life extinguished, and quenches his thirst on the dusty rain of deserts. At his feet, civilizations tumble - dry husks and breathing mummies - while in his chest, the emptiness lengthens like hungry night.
It maddens him, this famine without end, and carves him open from the inside out.
He tries to coat it, suckling black fossil nourishment from mother earth, and turns his blood to tar. Stripping the paint from canvas, the words from parchment, he sharpens his teeth on the tree of knowledge and splits his tongue with electric innovation.
Through time unmeasured, Beelzebub feasts, imbibing on human riches, and slowly starves.
