He's spent too much time cooped up inside to claim any sort of expertise on how people act (and quite frankly they make him a little nervous) but put him in a room with a parrot and he'll know exactly what to do to end up in the bird's good graces, and before you know it they'll be the best of friends.
Fred thinks this is silly and that like most animals birds are annoying and loud- and even though he's just a picky bastard we all know it's true. He puts up with the birds for Jeff's sake, though he won't allow the damn things climb on the furniture and thinks it's just plain icky when they eat chunks of fruit off of Jeff's plate. But everyday as soon as Fred shuts the front door behind him and leaves for work, the birds are everywhere. Finches in the kitchen and parrots all over the couch, nibbling on their human friend's fingers and climbing all over him until the work day ends.
