"Come on little one, I have something for you."The voice was warm, soft and had an earthen feel to it. The small girl timidly approached the figure that was partially hidden from her view by a giant mushroom. Gradually she began to recognize the stranger as an old Paralix, like the one her grandfather used to have. This land she had entered was strange. None of her family members had come with her, but she was sure Daddy had been holding her hand five seconds ago. And she felt very light. like she was ... floating? Confused she continued to walk along the foret path, barely able to keep focused. It seemed so much like the magic place she'd loved to draw. "So it IS real", she whispered. Finally the girl stood before the dragon who extended one of his claws on which something small and shiny dangled. Upon further inspection the girl realised it was nothing else but a key. "Who are you", the child asked in wonder. "I am the one theycall the Warden of Keys. offer bridges to worlds old and new." "But .. but where are Mommy and Daddy?", the child continued to ask. "They've already got their key. You will see them again, I'm sure of it." Cautiously the girl picked up the ky. "And what do I do now?" "You continue onyourpath until you come to a door. That you will open with the key I just gave you." Being young and openminded about the fantasy infront of her, the girl nodded and rushed to follow the Paralix' wprds. She wanted to see her parents again after all. A blue shimmer engulfed her as she finally found her door. Excited she turnedthe key and - vanished.
Unseen by her, the dragon smiled. He liked the children and those who could still dream. Most people, especially humans, imagined him as a scythe carrying Harvester and became afraid of death, fearing that all would turn to black, once they were forced to leave the world they knew. However there were keys for each of them, sending their souls into another life, another adventure. The Keeper of Keys had no need for any deity and was content enough with letting them believe they were going to Paradise or Nirvana if that was what they wanted to believe. They would not remember the oldworld anyways once they had started living in the new.
