There isn't a child of Subeta that hasn't heard that classic nursery song but have you ever wondered at its origin?

It all started in the vast expanses of space. The multitude of stars shined brightly over a thousand newborn galaxies, providing their guiding light and whispering the secrets of the universe in the ears of primitive beings that would go on to shape the history of the newly-formed time stream. Where had they come from? How had they learned such a vast knowledge from their perches in the inky expanse? The stars themselves couldn't answer those questions. They only knew that each star had a very important purpose. All were assigned to a being of importance, a shaper of minds and events.

All except one.

Thedon was the youngest star in the sky. As with all babies of the family, his trillions of siblings adored him but none took him very seriously. It didn't help that rather than settling into a celestial palace and connecting to a life-form, he took a page from the lifestyle of bards and made his living visiting the palaces of others to sing their praises.

He had a voice that could cut the clearest crystals with its beauty. When he sang, new forms of life sprang into being and the ruins of ancient civilizations took on a new glow. At first, he was teased by his siblings for being the rootless star but as his older sibs realized how their worlds would thrive when his voice washed over the night sky, he found himself with more invitations than he could possibly honor with a reply.

Being the best at something tends to make one lonely after a few dozen centuries. One day, Thedon decided to visit the vast Star Bed, a field of magical dust where dying stars go to have their bodies renewed.

He plucked one of the immature stars from the Star Bed, naming his new friend Sparkle and keeping her always at his side. She couldn't sing as majestically as her dear friend but she added special little chimes and bell tones that enhanced Thedon's music, bringing out new color tones in the flowers that burst to life.

In not belonging to a single life form, Thedon belonged to everyone. He became a muse for the artistic, a guiding star for the powerful and a ray of hope for the humble. Every world has its North Star though the configuration of the constellations varies. He was and is to this day a constant amid the chaos.

Of all the stars, none has captured the imaginations of life forms like Thedon.

Thedon is that spark of resilience that kindles in your breast when you face impossible odds. Thedon is the will to keep trying no matter how many failures you've suffered. Thedon is a guiding light that will never be extinguished until the very last living creature perishes along with every star in the sky.

Thedon is hope.
