"Hhaah... hhhaahaha... " The dull, damp scrape of flesh and plush against a grouted tile floor. He draws himself forward with one arm and one leg; his left shoulder is an empty socket that leaks confetti like pus. "I'm... I'm... I'm... hhhahahahehehe..." He rolls ecstatically, writhes, and you step away.

"It's too bad we had to downgrade him so much." You turn to see Dr. Crusete, dressed as usual in a spotless robin's egg surgical gown, poised at the basement door with one foot on the first step down. "He used to be really very amusing..."

"Iiiii was a man." He whispers. Giggles.

"'I was once a man'." Crusete says, and kicks him lightly. Glittery stuffing foams out of his head wound. He smiles at you then. "Let me tell you about this pathetic attempt at a joke."

He used to be so serious, before the operations. They took place in this cellar. We spliced his nerves and veins through itchy cotton stuffing, we took out parts of his brain. Shraver raised him, I suppose. He was a blank slate with his frontal lobes mixed up like cake batter. He drooled, he laughed at everything. Shraver started doing things like dying his hair pink and shaving his bones and such... I looked up "gibbering mad scientist pink hair scar" online and I'm fairly sure he was trying to modify him into Dr. Candyfloss from this old kid's show. It would line up with his age the right way, and apparently lots of people had a sort of shameful crush on the character. He even cut off Delirious' right leg so he could use a striped walking stick.

But, wouldn't you know it; we left him too smart, somehow. The little rat was always getting blood infections, and when we realized he was purposefully poisoning himself- Well, and he had tried to kill Shraver a few times. [a chuckle] So what we did to him a second time wasn't unwarranted. It was just to fix a few problems in the programming.
