   The last time she saw her birth mother, she was a tiny cub. Her adventurous nature took her too close to the rainbow spinning vortex, and she was pulled in before her mother could do more than reach out a paw.
   The anyu cub tumbled through the sky, stars all around her, more exhilarated than scared. Her life might have been cut short had not a conveniently horizontal whirlwind caught her and slowed her fall. She landed on a busy city street. The woman who had made the whirlwind held out a pretzel stick to the tiny ursine with little winged anklets on all four paws. “You must be someone's pet,” she said, but she was wrong. She just didn't realize that anyu naturally have these bracelets.
   They became friends. The woman who made whirlwinds was also from another realm, and had been cursed and exiled. She had come to live in Paragon City where blue skin and weather powers were unremarkable, and made a life there.
   Meeshah and Crystalshadow became good friends and partners in fighting gangs, zombies, aliens, and villains of all sorts.
   One day they were talking about their original home realms. Meeshah wanted to find hers. She knew it would be difficult, but she had a craving for others of her own kind. Crystalshadow did too, though she was reluctant to try to go home because of her curse. She knew she would not be welcome.
   Meeshah convinced her that, now that she was a hero, it might be different. And at least they knew where the blue-skinned hero came from; the wing-ankleted ursine's original realm was still a mystery to them both. So, partly to vicariously enjoy a homecoming, Meeshah persuaded Crystalshadow to give it a try.
   It both failed horrifically and succeeded beyond her hopes. The storm sirens did not accept their cursed sister back in the least; they brought her to their matriarch, who immediately re-exiled Crystalshadow with the same banishment spell she had used the first time.
   The spell sent each affected person to 'the place you belong’ and Meeshah was sent back to Subeta.
   Separated from Crystalshadow, she reunited with other anyu, though no one knew what had become of her mother. It was difficult, since Meeshah had been too young to even know her mother's name.
   The first blue-skinned person she saw was Truffula. Approaching in her usual friendly way, because of the superficial resemblance to Crystalshadow, she learned that Truffula was new to Subeta, and became her guide and good friend.
